wartox
As everyone knows there has been a lot of issues about the multiplayer of GTA 4 on both 360 and PS3. Unluckily we, PS3 owners, suffer more than 360 owners. When I contacted Take Two support they told me to open ports on my modem and gave me some port numbers. I haven't opened ports yet but if anyone has done it does it really help or fix the multiplayer issues?
tootricky
"Does it help?" Depends. 1. Do you UPnP enabled? 2. Is your PS3 in DMZ? If the answer is yes to either of the above then..... No. It makes no difference. And the "tech" support at Take2 are dicks for even suggesting it.
wartox
I have UPnP enabled but my modem is not behind DMZ. I'm using a wireless connection and my modem is a router. Does it help if the case is like this?

Does it help if the case is like this? They usually only ask you to open ports because YES sometimes routers have firewalls built in, ironically default setting for this is that its disabled, so there's no use opening ports as chances are they are all open. Chances are sometimes its the modem software that can create a performance decrease, which can usually be helped by updating it, otherwise try using another router and see if that solves a problem.
