Comparing it with other games out there... It deserved a..... 10 No, it did not. Maybe to fanboys. To be honest, a game would have to have the graphics of Crysis, gameplay like a GTA, physics like no other, a really, really, Pulitzer prize winning story and a bunch of other sh*t to get a 10/10. Still last time I checked SA was a GTA game, so why it isn't valid to compare GTA IV to GTA SA? or VC? or III? or II? or the original? I find really close-minded the idea of love it or hate it? But now that I think about, love is blind. Maybe thats why so many of the GTA IV lovers are so offended by some of the complaints brought to the table about lack of missions, sub-par storyline and reality /= repetitivity. Multiplayer is now a big part of GTA but for some of us it isn't an option or appealing. So everything missing being replaced by Multiplayer is just an excuse for the shortcomings in the single player campaign. I find GTA IV to be a great game, but not worthy of being the last installment of GTA series cause in the search of "reality" and next-gen graphics/physics it lost some of its essence. Problem is, reality and technological capability sort of override these unrealistic desires of unachievable perfection. Most of the "flaws" I see being "criticized" are not even things that the game has, but what it doesn't. And what it doesn't have, apparently, is everyone's idea of what they wanted the game to be. Then SA came along, and with it, an entirely new section of the fanbase. GTA4 comes out, and it takes after GTA3/VC, and the entire SA fanbase gets pissed and starts thowing fits. I say f*ck OFF! Us true fans like the old style GTA better! SA also had an over the top ridiculous story line. I mean, whats more realistic? 1. An ex-soldier successfully taking on the mob by himself. 2. A gangster from the streets breaking into an aircraft carrier, killing dozens of highly trained soldiers, stealing a jet, and taking out 3 Air Force pilots all by himself? I like the game, but thats just my opinion, and everyone is entitled to their own. There are plenty of games out there that get critical acclaim that I don't particularly care for. It's all dependent on what you like - hair cuts, fatness, muscle building; expendable entertainment imo. Nice perks but it doesn't outshine the new engines gameplay ability when your flying around III, VC or SA with the same pre-rendered damage modelling and stiffened boddies skating over your car. Nevermind shooting a ped with that cardboard reaction and getting the same result everytime. As long as the franchise progresses, who can be dissapointed with the game? Just bringing a brand new engine and graphics with prospects of the future GTA's should be enough to satisfy anyone over the age of 7 w/o A.D.D. unless silverspoons were analy injected after birth. stealthmaster Posted May 27, 2008 Share Posted May 27, 2008 I think people are mad becuase some of the stuff R* said would be in the game isnt and to top it off some of the current features were changed such as only 15 weapons, no army, a completly different handling system and so on. these people are just upset becuase there favourite has been changed and i dont blame them becuase R* knew that most of the features from the past GTA's are what made the game so special. all in all, people are pissed that the game has changed too much. For the sake of 'argument', the smaller map size was supposed to mean more vertical integration by way of interiors, The amount of Star Junction's flashy stores and amusments, as well as Broker's Amusement rides being just for looks and to flesh out the scope, that more then anything is the biggest hyped letdown. I can complain about glitches, but those are common place, making a video game is not the same as God creating Mankind and the World... It's entirely within the scope of the previous games I feel.... augmenting with the tech available, but we want a major leap and this is just the beginning of that leap I feel. It had everything GTA3 had AND introduced Helicopters, Motorcycles, Plane (Skimmer), new weapons (katana, tools such as hammer, knifes, ect), being able to purchase Safe Houses/Assets, the option of wearing different outfits, enterable buildings and being able to croutch San Andreas came and introduced EVEN MORE things! It had everything GTA3 and VC had. It introduced airplanes, fully customize your protagonist (weight/muscle/haircuts/Outfits), even MORE enterable buildings, able to learn 3 different fighting styles (boxing, karate, wrestling), way more cars (Huge selection of new cars, new boats, new helicopters + go kart and mosnterr truck and 4wheeler bike! lol), fighter jets, a f*cking jetpack!, ability to use airport to travel from one city to the next, able to customize cars (colour,wheels,hood,bumpers,ect) being able to swim and not drown like previous GTA and udnerwater too! And the amazing big selection of weapons (heat seeking RPG, Satchels, DILDOS!! FLOWERS!! haha) and stats (stamina, sex appeal, ect) and weapon stats (dual weapons, walk while shooting ect), have girlfriends that you could eventually f*ck! being able to make bets (horse races, casinos) PARACHUTES! *takes a deep breath* Im sure I can list more. When GTA4 came... People didnt like it much because we we're only to assume that each new GTA is to bring EVEN MORE to the table. But that wasnt the case for GTA4: no underwater swimming, no parachutes, no ridiculous cars (tanks, monster truck, bycicles, 4wheeler bike, go karts ect) no airplanes. But what did we get?
