GTA_Emilio
Hi , My pc is running very slow, and so I decided to re-install my windows xp home edition. well, I searched for it and relised I never had the cd. lucky enough my neighbour got a windows professional installation cd. he used it for like 4 times, and no problem. till I used it.. the cd copied files and sh*t but when the blue screen came on to really install windows, I got a window saying :cyclische renduratiefout: in englisch somting like cyclisch renduration fault or somting.well, anyway, my computer is still crap. So I'd like to format my partititions or dsk drive WITHOUT losing my windows. any suggestions? I'm counting on you..and you and yeah, you too. Girish
I don't think you can get rid of the partitions without gettting rid of Windows first.
[CTD]LaBan
If you have any improtant stuff in it you could back it up with placing drive into another PC, but formatting without loosing Windows isn't possible.

If it's like HP/Compaq you will have a separate partition for recovery so you won't need the CD. You might also have the option to make your own recovery disk(s). If you have this option it will be located at: (recovery manager/recovery disc creation) for HP systems. For Dell they will provide a restoration disk, drivers disk, and additional software required to set your system back to original state. The CD that has the redundancy Check error can properly be fixed withe CDCHECK if you still have it. And last but not least try to repair your current installation if still bootable run adware/spyware programs scan for viruses defragg your HDD and empty out the prefetch and temp folder. Run a registry cleaner turn off all unnecessary process that load at start up for a super gain in boost run PowerDefrager after windows own. You be surprised a little maintance sometimes makes a big difference. Good Luck!

GTA_Emilio
ok, now i putted the xp prof back in and didn't install it, but i checked for compatibility. it said my version of xp is newer than the one on cd. could that be the error: 'cyclisch enduration fault'? and if it is, how can I remove my previous windows and install professianol ?
