wayninja
they are only ridiculous for you - others find the city to be immersive, and whatever else your quotes have in them.you're pretty much saying something similar to "no no no - the game sucks, and you can't tell me I'm wrong" that's the image I get from you. "I want gloves/planes/haircuts" is also an overused statement - don't see it being mocked on sigs though Well I did say ridiculous AND over used. So some are ridiculous (technological limit/realism) and some are over used (living, breathing). But you are just seeing what you want to see. I'm not basically saying "The games sucks", I'm saying there seems to be a bunch of fun stuff missing and listed below are the reasons I usually get for the missing stuff. If you think that means I hate the game, then you are just wrong. As for other sigs, I don't really care. Is your universe out of wack because there isn't a signature mocking things that haters say often?
Tony Mozzarelli 80
That's not what I meant... I'm just saying all this hating is annoying people who like the game - really, it's pretty rare to find a fun topic on here if you're pro-IV. And if you don't like the game, bring it back to your store. There, everyone's happy? For example, lookie at wayninja...Even his sig 'hates' IV. Is it REALLY that high of a priority for you to say how much you hate the game? My sig hates IV? If pointing out ridiculous and over used statements to aplogies for flaws is 'hate' then you make a good point. But since it isn't, your point sucks. We don't need to apologise for these non existant flaws you just made up. And i'm glad you brought up San Andreas, because why would Niko wanna Pimp his ride out like some wannabe gangsta? Can't you see that if Rockstar put all that stuff in now then the GTA series would be at an end, because there are no more features that they could possibly think of for the next games, then you would be hating that they didn't put extra stuff in GTAV And remember the game isn't complete yet, there's still DLC to come. The fact you payed full price for it is irrelevant. because they had no space for all this extra content anyway Where is the source that they had no extra room? I don't buy that one bit. Oh...... a source........ to actually bacck up my argument? No you misunderstand me i didn't mean the actual disc space I meant this is the first time Rockstar have ever used the new engine, and they didn't have time to add all that stuff, stuff which by the way is useless and only 12 year old wannabe gangstas like. this aint the f*cking sims, this is raw GTA this is what GTA is all about

Yet you still label anyone who likes and enjoys this game a "fanboy". What is the point about trying to tear apart any arguement that is pro-GTA4? Are you really that angry that you haven't recieved 60 (90) dollars worth of fun? Hell, I don't find this game "perfect", but I still have a blast playing it. One can whine and complain about the finished product, but therein lies the fallacy of the complaints; the product is in front of you and non-changing. So to all the complainers, unless you can port it to your PC, and break into the sourcecode, your just going to have to deal with what is there. No point in repeating yourselves over and over again, just makes you look silly on a forum. I do? Where? I only label those who are fanboys as such. If not, I would have to label myself a fanboy because I do like and enjoy the game. Just not as much as it could be enjoyed if it were really a 10/10 game. The point to criticism is let whomever reading (hopefully someone influential) know why and how I think this game could be improved upon. Is that really so hard to understand? I understand the game is finished. I didn't think I had recieved a beta copy or anything. But that doesn't mean I simply accept anything handed to me without questioning it's value. If you do, good for you! As for looking silly on a forum... I dont' think there's a better place to look silly...

Is your universe out of wack because there isn't a signature mocking things that haters say often? This is how I tend to feel. I love this game and have been playing it consistently since launch, but as I drive around admiring the amazing details of this game, I really really wonder why there is so much unused stuff. I don't need to get into it, we have all covered it ad nauseam. In my opinion, it HAS to be dlc (which is the buzz-word-excuse for everything not in gta of course). I just cannot accept that R* created these items to be left unused. I also have a hard time swallowing the line "well, they just scrapped the idea and didn't go any further with these items". No way in my opinion. Maybe you could make the argument with the fire escape stairs, because Niko can't even climb these without "jumping" from step to step. They don't have the "stair mechanic" if that makes sense. Finally, I love your sig wayninja. I have to admit, that the stuff in there are spot on as arguments used. I see it time and time again and you even called a guy out on it in a post a few days ago where he said the exact thing you put in your sig. The realism argument actually sounds good to me...Houser said he wants the realism. as for over used..well i guess its so f*cking awesome i guess and you never gave me an impression you liked something of the game - so i assumed you hate it all...as for the fun features taken out, they've been replaced with similar ones and clothes are still in. It's just not that much fun when used as an excuse as to why you can't somehow find a tank and roll it through times square. In that instance, at least for me, realism headshots fun. There are more examples, but they've been kicked to death. I never gave you the impression? Well to be fair, I didn't know you were looking. How many post of mine did you read? And not NEARLY all of the features have been replaced with similar ones. There are plenty of lists if you want to see for yourself. I'm sure DLC will bring some of this content back because it makes economic sense. You don't need luck when you have capitalism, you just have to pay for it. No truce needed as holding a grudge is not something I'm capable of. Edited June 2, 2008 by wayninja

Peter_G
Personally I feel that the lack of unrealistic "features" (i.e. jetpacks, tanks, etc.) makes IV better. Why? Well because IMO it shows that GTA IV is the part of the series that seperates the TRUE fans from the bandwagoners. We true fans see the game for what it truly is: an epic masterpiece that captures the essence of a crime simulation game in all of its gritty glory. No "silly" bells n whistles (like haircuts, tattooes, car customization, etc.) here folks....what we have is a straight up, action packed, adrenaline fueled game that captures the true spirit of what a GTA game is supposed to be. I mean look at the original GTA's. They were 2D, had no NPC's to interact with, and the only "things" we could do were visit a Pay N Spray, crush cars at the docks for $, etc. But whatever. The point is...we LOVED the games. T'was only when SA started spoiling us with car customization, haircuts, jetpacks, dating, and all that that people started to bitch and whine. Plus (the majority) who bitch and whine about Ambulance and Firefighting missions being removed in IV are hilarious. Ever stop to think that maybe Rockstar did this for our benefit? After all, many of us were frustrated with how annoyingly hard these missions were due to the handling and cornering of the ambulance or firetrucks. And really, in a game like GTA these side missions were pretty hypocritical when you stop and think about it. I mean come on....we are supposed to be playing as a CRIMINAL. Not someone whom guns down a bunch of people in an instant, only to rescue and revive them the next. Silly no? Really the only side mission that was actually worthwhile was the Taxi one. Why? Well because we could drive around (and subsequentally learn the layout of the maps, as well as where important places in the game were, which was hightly beneficial when you stop and think about it). In conclusion, I feel that R* did the right thing by going back to their roots for IV and delivering us a bare, stripped down yet highly amazing installment of GTA. And to all the naysayers I say if you don't like IV, then go back to the SA forums where you all belong. Let us mature folk enjoy our game in peace. Hahaha separates the true fans... It doesn't even feel like a GTA game anymore. If Saints Row was GTA 4 and many people disliked it due to it being too different you would probablys say the same thing. And what does being mature have to do with liking GTA 4 or not? You truly are a c*nt. Hmmm 1. If it doesn't feel like GTA then tell me Oh Wise One...what does it feel like? 2. How dare you use Saints Row and GTA 4 in the same post, nevermind comparing them in the same sentance. 3. You just proved my point about the maturity. Tis obvious that you do not like IV and your immature resort to childishly calling me a c*nt proves just how immature you truly are. But what I had previous meant was you don't see us IV fans clusterf*cking up the SA forums with "0mg this game sucks" threads now do you? 1. A different game... 2. I wasn't comparing the two, I was saying they are both completely different to the previous GTAs. 3. I do like GTA 4, I just don't think it as good as all the reviews say. I called you a c*nt for thinking that everyone who is mature has to like GTA 4 otherwise they are immature, which is way more childish.
Rich Rosas
And not NEARLY all of the features have been replaced with similar ones. There are plenty of lists if you want to see for yourself. I have come to realize that most of the features mentioned that are missing are interactive ones, that requiere the players input for them to serve a purpose. On the other hand the new features that ppl feel are worthy of mentioning are not interactive ones. Player input is not requiered, just its presence. This may be a dumb generalization of most discussions, but I have gotten this impression several times already.

blitsbebop
IV is the same as all the other Grand Theft Auto games but with better graphics, hard-core GTA fans will love it but others will say "been there, done that" Olny thing that stands out is the next gen graphics and Euphoria that makes the city feel more alive. Pretty old skool and which I like but just with a new make-over. As far as missions and features IV is pretty old skool which we the fan (well I am a fan) should love. shat_kat
Im sorry, but that is going way too far... "how dare you", you do realise they are games? Games are not that offensive unless your name is Jack Thompson. who are you kidding? of course games can be offensive... sh*t, anything can be offensive... it's dependant upon (wait for it) THE PERSON BEING OFFENDED the only problem with people being offended is that they fail to view the offense within the proper context... ie... the offensive actions of an in-game character, in a fictitious virtual world. a small offense compared to the thing you can find in classical american literature Yes but this guy seems to be offended by the actual title of the game... Tatertotts
In my opinion, it HAS to be dlc (which is the buzz-word-excuse for everything not in gta of course). I just cannot accept that R* created these items to be left unused. People have said that this is the first installment of a new GTA, like III was, and that my criticisms should wait because I don't know what the dlc will be like. Ok, fine. I paid approx $120 for III, VS, and SA. So far, I've paid $60 for GTA IV. If there are, let's say, 3 installments of dlc for this game, at $20 each, and they make the experience of this game anything close to my III + VC + SA experience, I will edit every single post I've made complaining about this game to say I was a stupid gay retarded 12-year-old noob. Not that anybody will care, but there it is in writing. PS: Tony, the Full Metal Jacket comment made me laugh out loud. Kudos, my friend.
