Hey, remember the E3 06 video (it's on YouTube), where Baker gets glass in his arms? I think that's out. I hope not, that was awesome. If a cutscene replaces it, I'll be cry.gif and cryani.gif and suicidal.gif and angry.gif.

Would it be better if I play the previous Brothers in Arms first because it has a storyline or do you think it doesn't make that much of a difference? Thanks turn.gif

Well the 1st 2 all have a interlinking story and I think Hell's Highway is the same. You play the same guy in the games so you may need to play the 1st 2 Brothers In Arms

Er wrong. You play Baker in the first (Who you play in Hells Highway), but on the 2nd game you play Red Hartsock who is under Bakers command in Hells Highway.

It's not a necessity to have played the earlier games, but to understand their emotions I would advise you to buy it. They're pretty cheap anyhow.

Hey, how's Red in Baker's command? He's leading 2nd squad, Baker's got 3rd, I think, and they're both staff sergeants. The only one above them is their platoon commander - and his superiors, of course - and he's a real guy.

 

I also remember reading we get to see Lt. Col. Cole die.

Well, Lt. Col. Cole's death is part of the history. Didn't think of it as a spoiler. tounge.gif He did exist, y'know. Sorry. To make up for it here's a preview:

 

"A new trick meanwhile is the Rainbow Six-esque cover system that let's Baker drop from the first-person view into cover, popping out to shoot either in third or first person. it's such as logical development that I wonder how it was missed out until now, and it fits like a missing piece of the puzzle into the strategy of the WWII game."

 

"Drumming up enthusiasm for another European WWII campaign is a little difficult, but it's phenominal how well Hell's Highway works. Unlike many squad games, where you comrades feel llike useless sidekicks, you to rely on your men to supress the enemy, blow up gun emplacements or cover you you try for the headshot."

 

"The annoyance in the slightly overdone subject matter, but BiA covers this a Band of Brothers style TV veneer, complete with a "Previously on..." that opens the game. There are well-acted cutscenes, dramatic special effects (like blood and dirt spattering the camera) and even history lessons for those interesting in seeing the reality behind the game."

Good vid Gronf, at around 0:30 to 0:35 you can see how big the wide open areas are going to be, hopefully there'll be no invisible barriers, it'll probably stop when the forest starts or some barbed wire fences.

I didn't like the fact that a bunch of Kraut bodies stopped me from moving back into [town name] in RtH30. Invisible barriers suck, 4 feet of barbed wire wouldn't stop a soldier. Well, they've gotta limit it somehow, and that's the best way I suppose.

 

This is gonna rock. Hope MP will work for me this time.

Well I guess. In the town levels, obviously buildings and vehicles are going to block the way, so there has to be a limit in the countryside. Like I said maybe a forest or something. That other vid where theres a windmill at the start, you can also see hedges, which you seemingly cant get past.

Is that an old video? Looks worse than the other gameplay vids we've seen, like Baptism of Fire which looked amazing.

 

Also, they allow characters to pass through each other so you cant get stuck in doors etc. Some other games cleverly do it aswell.

Ohhhh! I thought that was a glitch. You can just order them to move. And yes, I think it is an old gameplay video, I think it said "copyright 2005" in the end. My bad, that year EiB was released. It's still old, I think, but it was new to me.

I enjoyed the killing of the sheep. I'll bayonet one, and leave it there. No more killing. They're peaceful animals, and Baker's killed enough.

I won't embed it, because you wouldn't be able to watch in HQ then, and the video is of sh*tty quality. The rally in the background doesn't make it much better. In the end, Paddock kicks up the door. The view switches to cutscene. I expected it to be in FPA mode, but it goes to show how much GBX has removed it. It's not totally gone, but... Yeah.

 

Another thing. I just downloaded a Garand mod for Day of Defeat. Basically, it changes the rear sight to a smaller, more life-like version. The one you will see in Brothers in Arms and Call of Duty: World at War has a huge f*cking ring. I never though about it until I read about it.

I think one of the devs said "Baker takes care of the recoil, so that you don't have to". It makes some sense, but being able to hold that MG42 down must be a bitch.

 

The DoF is something they can fix in no-time, unless it's meant to be that way.

nervous.gif I just saw that it only says PS3 at the end. What happened to PC and 360!? Even if that video was running on PS3, it should still say the other formats.

You need SP3 to play the goddamn game.

On the video: Holy sh*t! Thats violent! When that grenade blows up those guys, legs and torse rip off! Not just fall off, you can actually see the skin rip. You can see bone aswell. And guts. This. Will. Be. Awesome.

Yeees, you're right, and I'm hoping this will draw some people that haven't played the game before.

 

Goddamn, the realism is awesome. This game is probably gonna be my GOTY (GTA IV's alreayd been spoiled for me...). f*cking hell what an awesome gore system.

 

 

...Don't get me wrong, blood is necessary at times to get a point across or for impact, but from what I see here, someone is always being dismembered in a less than tasteful manner.

Knowing the BiA series (even though I started this year with it), I can say it's not gore for sake of gore/coolness. It's for realism. And even if it weren't for the realism, I'm still surprised someone's complaining.

 

Imagine that gore in multiplayer!
