PS3 online question

Before anything, I am a noob at GTA 4 (I got it today). I already want to try going online, But I can only host events, (Can't join other games) and there is only Invites, player model, tutorial and the start game showing up on the multi player menu on the phone, nothing saying ranked or anything.

 

so my question is, How do I actualy join an event?

instead of hosting a game, you go to quick match i think and select from there ans you should be plonked into a more active game.

I've tried that, but when I click on a game type I want to play, a question comes up saying: "do you want to start a ... event?", I choose no (because If I says yes I become a host and I don't want to), then it just goes back to the multiplayer menu.

You go on the phone > multiplayer > quick match > select the game type and you should be in (say yes to the notification message). I hope this helps.

hmm weird, i have no idea how to make myself a host unless I make it with private slots or party mode, sorry no other ideas coming from moi.

 

Hmm, i do this...

 

Multiplayer > Games > Quick Match > Free Mode > Then all it says for me is "Are you sure you wish to start a multiplayer game? Any unsaved progress will be lost." Yes or no, and that is as soon as I say yes, i get put into a random game.

They used a wrong word with starting, it actually is joining.
