Is It Me Or Are The Missions ALITTLE Disapointing?

The missions were fun at first, but they were far too repetitive.

 

Also, the entire game (I've played through both endings and now working for 100%) required little to no thought on the part of gamer. All you do the entire game is exactly what the game tells you to do (go here, buy this, get a car, go here, kill this guy, loose your wanted level).

 

The Three Leaf Clover mission was the one exception. That was the only mission in this game that made me think "sweeeeeeeeeeet" the whole time it was going on. And part of the reason this mission is so great is because you actually explore a lot of the city. Other than this mission and the one where you chase the two motorcyclists, I can't think of a single time I needed to use the subway. Why didn't they have any missions where you had to go back into the subway tunnels and meet the "King of the Underground" or something like that and so some weird missions like steal a hotdog cart for the people who live down there? I mean, it's almost like they didn't even try to come up with interesting missions.

 

I really hate to compare it to other recent games, but I have to say that Bioshock was much more engaging game and a better example of how you can use the "moral dilemma" choices to make the game much more interesting.

 

Aside from 4 or 5 instances like that, there were no player choices to be made. And for the missions where you DID have to make a choice, there was really little consequence like at the end when you have to decide to kill or deal with Dimitri...it doesn't really matter which one you choose. Someone you know dies regardless and you end up playing out too-similar story completion missions

 

It was fun for a while, but on the whole, the game showed too much emphasis on the technical aspects and far too little imagination in storytelling.

Niko's cool, the graphics are great , the city is amazing , I like the gameplay alot.

 

But, the missions are real repetitive and a bit dull, ( compare 3 leaf clover with the san andreas and vice city bank jobs) If I want realism I'll turn off my xbox360 and walk down the street.

Also the races are SO easy, there aint nuthin to spend money on, nothing happens when you get 100% etc etc

 

Also it seems to me, that when they do a game set in the past they can condense the culture more effectively, ie the songs on the radio are cooler because they have to look back and see what still sounds good today rather than taking a chance on contemporary stuff.

Maybe it's because I've only done 2 assassin missions but I found that they've both been a case of "just rocket launcher or assault rifle everything" there's no planned sniping assassinations or anything. During the assassin mission where you had to kill the guys in the convoy I tried to be a bit more sneaky and put a car bomb on the targets limo but it wouldnt let me. Bit of a let down, so I just had to use the RPG and take him out that way.

I agree that some missions were similar but a lot of great ones are being forgotten here.

 

The bank job was easily the best missions but these were also fun.

 

Riding the top of the truck was fun

Sniping the guy through the window (having to find the number and ring his phone to get him to move)

Choosing between McReadys

Dumping the body (it kept falling out the car for me, well funny)

 

Im hoping the DLC adds a lot of missions as not many are good enough for me to want to go back and replay them.

In GTA SA you get a lot of bull missions. You get 3 racing missions. Al of which are frustrating and annoying. They are far fetched. A jetpack in a military base? Come on. The only jetpack these days can only go up, down or out of control.

 

look a real jetpack. It's not that unrealistic.

 

And for everyone who think the missions are little bit boring turn of auto aim, it makes the game a lot more intense (and harder). I like the game alot better with auto aim turned of.

 

BTW: Everyone should turn it of in multiplayer aswell.. please? kthxbye

The Missions wasnt the only dissapointment. I was happy at first, but once i got to the end.. i was thinking what a waste of money.

Full of annoying bells and wistle's and upbeat graphics.

Still is a Epic Fail Game!

 

When it takes me only 3 weeks to beat the game, and the older gta's took months to complete. No Challange what so ever. I suppose the 200 pigeons will be a challange but im not talking about completing the extra extra stuff just the normal stuff to progress in the game.

 

The Missions had no challange what so ever. go here.. duck.. target lock on while ducking.. shoot, guy dies. Make choice, doesnt change story much. Yeah if you free aim around corners the battles take longer, and you watch as they scurry around but im not wasting all that ammo and money i spent to buy it to free aim shoot at air. Im going to lock on and shoot them.

 

It lacks too much substance. Wouldnt mind a throphy, extra clothes, or neat awards for completing certain objectives like you would get in all the other gta's. I didnt recieve nothing special for doing any of the objectives. Just a phone upgrade and a neat vehical that i would lose in 20 mins and some crappy clothes.

 

My only likes are the bowling(disapointed not to get anything special for a turkey or a new bowling ball) The lighting Effects... wow.. that wasnt much.

Car driving-Too over done, but i can compromise

The races-Too easy no challange

Motorcycle driving-No fun anymore.

Lack of weapon-Weres the selection? I ended up using only 3 wepons to complete this game, granades, assault riffle, rocket launcher.

Missions were all Gun Battles that were wayyy too Simple to Complete

Gf Missions-Dull and Boring, Add some differences in what happens.

Characters-Annoying

Cops-Lame No Challange, Duck run, shoot, drive fast down a straight away.. there gone.

Subways-Pointless

The Cutscenes Went from Interesting, to very long and boring and i didnt care to watch them anymore. Im playing a game, if i wanted to watch a movie i'd put in a movie.

Seeing a bunch of Cool looking stores you cant go into.

The Comedy Club-Funny, till i found out its only the same two acts with only 2 bits a act.

Magic show place-Very Dull

Funland-Closed

Pool Game-Sucks

Dart Game-No Challange

No Gun Club

Internet-Neat but looses its use fast.

Cell Phone-Should of been able to call up all those adds on the internet or on the radio to get random crazy stuff. All we get is busy signals.

Auto Aim is still got its quirks. you think after 5 or more titles of gta, who ever designs the auto aim would be fired by now.

The Cover System was Flawed enless you were very careful.

The missions are not as in depth as they were in previous GTA games. Still, because of the physics and graphics, it really makes the combat in GTA IV spectacular. And with the duck and cover system, it really adds an effect. But yes, the missions are slightly repetitive in GTA IV. But I still loved the missions. I also enjoyed the fact that there were no missions in which you were timed.

When would you understand that this game is meant to be realistic and mature. According to R*, real life is boring and repetitive. Eastern europeans have no sense of humor and will never try new things, they will stick to the sh*t they know and learned from the old world to the end of their days. biggrin.gif

 

On a more serious note:

The set of missions I really enjoyed where the ones for Gerry, specially all the missions related to the kidnap. It was something different, atleast. I loved the dialoge between Niko, Packie and Miss kidnaped during the change of locations. I felt more sorry about losing the diamonds than the assassination of Roman or Kate. The diamonds were better characters and where involved in more missions.
