Is It Me Or Are The Missions ALITTLE Disapointing?

Other than the missions, I think that this game is awesome and will still continue to play it, no matter what. But compared to the other GTA's, the missions in this title are very drab. I mean, around 87% of missions are "chase so and so and take him out!". The only two favorite missions of mine is the Bank Robbery and Truck Bomb ones. All the rest are really boring. In San Andreas you'd get missions where you'd have to jump off of Airplanes, set houses on fire, ect... I think the missions are a little let down, anyone else agree?

yeah I feel that way too. But hey give R* a break this was their first GTA game on next gen consoles. Besides the missions not being "real" fun, I love the game. Imo, Three Leaf Clover was the best mission in the game. It was epic.

I agree totally. I have just finished 3 leaf clover and it was really cool. But other missions in previous gta's seemed a lot better. A lot more fun and original. I still love the game but i was disappointed with the missions so far

Best mission in the game was The Bellic Cousins. And you know what you have to do to lose the sense of repetetivness (Spelling). You should complete side missions along with story ones.

Sidemissions are just as bad. Take Assassin missions for example. Those are ALL "go and take out so and so" missions and so are the Police/FIB missions.

That's the type of game this in. I like the missions more and more each day. A lot of people haven't played the past GTA's, and they probably find these missions downright amazing. The old games had some farfetched, stupid missions in my opinion. I like these a lot more. It ties in with something you would have to do in real life, not something like stealing green goo or flying a jet pack. icon14.gif for the missions.

It's what Rockstar totally wanted. They wanted the game to be realistic. And thats what it came out to be.

Some of the missions in SA, were ridiculous.

The earlier missions are a bit boring but once you get further on in the game, such as after Alderney is unlocked, they get more interesting simply because the story gets more interesting. I'd much rather do missions for the mafia and random sociopaths than for a small time Russian crook.

In GTA SA you get a lot of bull missions. You get 3 racing missions. Al of which are frustrating and annoying. They are far fetched. A jetpack in a military base? Come on. The only jetpack these days can only go up, down or out of control.

I didn't see what the big shock was over the 3 Leaf Clover mission. Seemed more like a horrible Rainbow Six rip-off in my opinion. CJ did the same sh*t with a casino in the last game, and it was more fun.. you actually had to do other things besides cover and shoot.

Spoilers ahead. Be warned.

The only missions I thought were revolutionary were the kidnapping mission, the "drive Francis to the graveyard" mission and the mission where you had to drive Manny's body. Only because of how things interacted and reacted. Those of you who played the missions know what I'm talking about. Too bad those missions were 3 out of 90. The rest was GTA as usual.. go over here, kill 50 people, done.. or go chase him down and kill him. Same sh*t, different game.

I figured with all the new sh*t in this game they would have came up with new ways to make money and new ideas about missions. I mean, how do you have functional in-game internet and not consider adding some identity theft to the game? This is 2008.. they should stop relying on missions that would better fit a 1980s action movie.

As I've said before, nobody robs banks with automatic weapons anymore. Even in the movies they have to have some elaborate scheme where they go through a wall, the floor, etc. Nobody walks in the front door and gets away without a scratch. If your gonna make a more realistic game, then you've gotta get more realistic missions.

I think that its not as mixed as san andreas but I think the story line itself makes up for that, which I compeletely enjoy. Hopefully for DLC or the next gta, they will mix up the missions such as being forced to hangout or doing things you normally wouldn't expect from a gta game.

Funny. Thats exactly the opposite of what I thought. I really didn't want to see the mafia return in this game because its been played out. The end of the game seemed more like they were running out of ideas and just said "f*ck it, lets go back to what we know." In fact, the last 15-20 missions seemed like more of a chore to me than having fun. I just wanted to beat the game for the sake of playing it so long, not because I actually wanted to get to the end.

Well said.

I was shocked too on how much the mission felt like previous GTA's.

I thought Rockstar was more creative than this.

Oh, it would be so much fun if R* would make robbery something like Oceans 11. Like this:

1. Find partners.

2. Use internet to order explosives. ^___^

3. Plot, scheme and re-scheme everything.

4. Rob a bank just the intellectual way.

WTF with my English today...

The other thing I hated about the missions, was how linear they were. Never once did I have to stop and think my way through a mission.

This game took almost zero strategy to complete. That's NOT what next-gen gaming should be like.

i agree, the missions are too repetetive. i remember in past games, there would be missions with specific physics or design features that were only needed for that specific mission.

hopefully now that the foundation is set, they can get back to more diverse mission types.

It's weird how R* told us the exact opposite. Remember the thing about how you have to call the guy to see who picks up? And that's who you kill? I haven't gotten to a mission like this, but I'm guessing it's either a one-time thing, or the guy had an arrow over his head anyway. Was R* afraid the game would be too difficult for certain gamers? Boo f*cking hoo. Give us a challenge please.

I still love the missions. inlove.gif

True. I mean, there are just a lot of different things they could do with the missions in addition to what they have. Like instead of having Niko run in, kill three people and leave.. have him kill three people and have a set time limit to clean up the crime scene before the cops get there. We have CSI.. put it in the game.

Are there any missions with a timer in this game? I've only just unlocked Algonquin. I realized this about this game. I know there's stuff like "catch this guy before he leaves town", but is there actually a mission with a timer?

Actually alot of the missions in IV were boring compared to the other GTA missions. 3 Leaf Clover is easily the best mission ion the enite game.

Most of the driving or chase missions are more frustrating than anything because of the dumb ass car controls.

Also I hated the fact that most of the early missions were so easy and had less action compared to the early missions in other GTAs.

I completed the game twice, and only missions with actual timer is missions for Jacob, I mean drug deliveries (There message like "Deliver by 17:45").

I don't understand, why every mission has to be shooting... I really would like more mission with your bare knuckles... and make it a bit hard... like fighting 2-3 guys at the same time with your bare knuckles. They should have made a variation of that, cuz to be more realistic there should be more street fighting. Well that's just what I think smile.gif

It's a one-time thing, he didn't have an arrow over his head. You simply called his number, saw who picked up the phone and then proceeded to kill him.

That's your problem. Car controls in this game are amazing. Very realistic.

and that was a disapointing mission along with other things. But the previews were hyping this mission up so much when it was just a simple call that number, when he answers the phone begins to static when you're close by then he sees you and runs. Then obvioulsy you shoot him and get a 2 star wanted level.

Actually the previews were hyping the so called super improved and better wanted level system which in my mind is worse than the last wanted system and is far from realistic.

the majority of missions in gta4 are shooting missions, which are a million times better than the shooting missions from previous gta games thanks to the improved cover/aiming system aswell as euphoria.

i like them, there's enough variety thanks to euphoria.

thats an assassins job what else would you do?

take the guy to lunch before you kill them?, no you go and kill people for money what did you expect the assassination missions to be?
