visionist
OK, GTA IV's graphics are beautiful, right? We can all agree on that, BUT: Every window, every storefront, is FLAT, PAINTED 2D. Look what I found: R* are you watching? The potential to turn EVERY SINGLE flat window texture into something ALIVE.

Tony Mozzarelli 80
But i wonder if they would look so good if you could view them from all angles, rather than just zooming in where they want you to, if ya see what i mean
visionist
Clearly, the technology needs A LOT of work in order to function properly in a GTA game. But remember who is making the game...
Effy in Chains
Now that I would like to see used in the next GTA. The current storefronts and windows look terrible. Please use this.

unoleian
A video != a realtime gameworld. Intensely memory intensive. It has to be. No indication that it would even function in a true 3d environment. No info on how long it takes to calculate the pseudo-3d space in the first place. And so on goes the raining on this parade.
Mentality
clever-ish, just something about it that makes it actually look no better than the 2D store windows when you look from a distance. Even when you zoom in on those pictures, you can still see they have been manipulated and look very tatty. Obviously this is some form of beta version (I'm assuming) I would like to see it some time down the line when it is more advanced and has more of a professional look. Because as it is, I think with some time on a 3D rendering program I could create something similar. (not that I'm going to, I have work in the morning so I don't have the time.) ishouldntbehere
first of all, that video is over a year old at least. Second of all, it is a 2d photo that is being bent into a 3d space, which is what any 3d video game does. This is nothing new. The only thing that makes this video impressive is that the computer can recognize how to do it automatically, and that would have nothing to do with video games because programmers create their 3d spaces, they dont need a program to simulate a 3d space on the fly. It's not a big deal. If you want a revolutionary technology for video games, try THIS instead:
