GTA IV - MAJOR GLITCH [MINOR spoilers]

There are a number of times in the game where saving before receiving certain phone calls or text messages can leave your game stuck "in limbo"...I just started over after having put 30+ hours into the game. Let me explain..

 

Minor spoilers, but not really:

 

There's a mission called The Final Interview (Pt. 1), where you have to apply for a job online, and wait for a phone call from a Lawyers office. I made the mistake of saving before I got the call (I could/should have called them, as the number was in my phone). When I returned to the game, every mission icon had disappeared...forever. I was unable to make any sort of phone call to anyone - no one would answer, except one girlfriend (Kiki). No, sleep mode was NOT on in my phone, I am sure of this). No one ever tried to contact me again. I was now unable to select Little Jacob, Brucie, or anyone else for 'friend activities' in my phone. Or missions. They were not an option anymore. No one was on the map, and I was not in the middle of a mission. I was able to meet a few "random" pedestrians, and do their missions, but that was it. Over three in-game weeks passed, and nothing changed. I tried saving a bunch of times to pass the time...but nothing.

 

In fact, even more proof that the game was "stuck"...

 

On my last date with Michelle before the glitch, I got into a major car accident with her in the car, and she fled the scene (hilarious)...naturally, the first couple times I called her for another date, she said she needed time after what I did to her. But it really wouldn't take almost an in-game month for her to get over the bad date..whenever I called, she said the same exact thing. for WEEKS!!!

 

 

In any case, I've seen a few other people with the same problem on other forums, and it seems like many of them are just starting the game over...it really sucks. Just in case Rockstar patches it, I made sure to keep a save file...

In another thread, here, someone has a very similar problem with the phone. There is obviously a major bug that needs to be fixed.

While I was d*cking arond for a week I went out with michelle and got bored with the same old sheeit and puched her to see what would happen. she got pis*sed off and ran home too, guess I better check back with her and see if i get the same results.

Glad I didn't save when I beat it. Thanks for letting us know about this glitch though, cause the next time I beat it I could've done it.
