PS2 (version) SNP via PS3?

I'm just throwing this out there to guage interest in such a service...

 

I have a PS3 80 GB (which plays PS2 games) and moved my saves via a memory card adapter to my PS3--

 

After doing so, I realized we do now have a "relatively" easy method for a PS2 Save N Play.... especially if we can figure out how to upload/download the saves directly from the PS3 hard drive.

 

One fly in the ointment, is the various versions for the PS2 not being completely compatible-- which means we would have to differentiate between the various versions for the PS2 (the later versions may be compatible with each other but they are NOT compatible with my 2002 version).

 

Before doing any research/testing on this, thought I'd guage interest in this.... there seems to be a resurgence of PC SNP use so was wondering if the PS2 people were interested.

 

The PS2 card adapter I bought (Pretty cheap on ebay) does connect to the PS3 via a USB cable but when I tried to pull a save off my card with my PC, my PC did not recognize the card adapter so I don't know if anyone that does try this without a PS3 could get their saves off the card with out a PS3-- perhaps there is a a PS2 card reader driver available for PCs

 

If not, then this would only be limited to PS3 players with PS2 game capability (the 40 gb ps3 does not play PS2 games)---

 

(Why would anyone with a PS3 be playing Vice City)

 

So anyway, just want to know how many people might be interested in this service-- via PS3 or via PC if we can figure out how to get the saves off directly???

Good thinking, but I think it's too complicated and wouldn’t work. We will start to see more and more topics asking what, how and where to buy, and how to make the whole thing work. Even if we had a pinned topic explaining everything we will still see people asking the same questions again and again. People still ask question in Mod Showroom forums even though there’s big red text saying that they shouldn’t.

Fair enough (and very likely true)-- I haven't messed with my PS3 capabilities too much-- if I ever get around to it I will try and see how hard it is to just see if it is even feasible-- and if so may host some useful saves-- with tedious stuff done already.
