fug34
Hey, I was wondering if there is any differences between the two? I know the contents are mostly the same, but since most likely only own one of the two big consoles I imagine there will be a lot of people who won't know what is different on the other version of the game. I know there are a bunch of 360 vs PS3 threads going around but they seem to all boil down to people arguing over which is the better system, hopefully it won't spill out into this thread. I will list what differences I have read about in two different categories, content and performance: Content: I read on Games Radar that due to the bluray disk the TV shows on the PS3 version are of a far better quality and that they have an additional camera angle to get a closer view of the TV screen. The PS3 one also has six axis functionality and a tutorial built into the phone which can be accessed by pushing up on the D-Pad. On the 360 you have achivement points which are not present on the PS3 version. I read that the PS3 game will have them added later though when PSHome is out, I don't know if that is confirmed or not though, but as is that is a 360 only element. Performance: The PS3 version has a hard drive install which makes the load screen between missions about 1 second faster. The 360 version runs natively at 720p with 2 X anti aliasing while the PS3 version is a lower resoltion and upscales the picture with no anti aliasing, there is also a heavier depth of field artistic blur on the 360 version which makes background objects. I don't know if there is a 'definitive' better looking version, initially everyone said the PS3 one but now the likes of GameSpot and EuroGamer are saying the 360 one is slightly better looking. Is there an actual resolve to this? It ultimatly doesn't matter that much but I am curious about it now after reading so much about it for so long. Please feel free to correct anything I have got wrong and add whatever you know, again, please don't turn this into a "X system is better", despite asking which system puts out the best performance I don't wish to see people argue about their system and instead focus on how the two games differ. I hope some of you can contribute since I would really like to know of the little differences between the two, I know it is no big deal and all that but it is still a curiousity. thebritishbulldog
the PS3 version DOESN'T WORK WITH MULTI PLAYER. And C* are doing nothing about it.
Zump
Don't forget that Xbox 360 has exclusive Downloadable Content.

emigrating
Good luck with this thread not becoming a full on warzone like most of the others For all intents and purposes they are identical apart from what you have already listed. Yes, the 360 displays 720p natively which gives it a slightly sharper image, but unless you're doing a side-by-side comparison you really don't notice it. Especially not when you're actually playing the game because things are moving anyhow. Everyone keeps saying the lighting is better done on the PS3, but I've yet to notice this (yes I own both consoles - and have borrowed a PS3 copy from a friend of mine). Overall I think the 360 version looks better, but it really boils down to personal preference at the end of the day - and with tweaking the contrast/hue/brightness/sharpness etc on your display (on either of the two editions) you can make the two look even more identical than they do by default. The thing that was the deciding factor for me when deciding to purchase the 360 version rather than the PS3 was exclusive DLC (and to a lesser extent online gaming via Xbox Live - as I much prefer it to the Playstation Network). If there's one thing the Xbox360 release is missing (that is available on the PS3) it would be the harddrive installation. Constantly streaming everything from the DVD does put a strain on the drive and will shorten it's lifespan (sometimes quite considerably). This is down to Microsoft's moronic guideline that harddrive installations are a big no-no because not all 360's come with a HDD though - you would think they would allow optional installs, but alas no. mufakamills
the PS3 version DOESN'T WORK WITH MULTI PLAYER. And C* are doing nothing about it. Don't be a dick. Multi-player works fine on the PS3. There are really no differences between the two version except the things that you listed in the original post.
fug34
Wow so I thought some people might have had some more little differences, be it pedestrian spawn points or differences in textures or something. Glad to see that thus far it hasn't turned into a "X console is better". Another little difference is that there is supposedly a zombie multiplayer skin that is on the PS3 Multiplayer game that isn't on the 360 one. I was wondering if the wing mirrors on cars are reflective on either release? Trailer 2 had Niko looking in his car mirror and you could see behind his car, I don't think that is in now is it? Darrel
Multiplayer with Gta IV on the ps3 is a joke to be honest. Hope it gets fixed. Btw the Rage engine looks like it really struggles with glass reflections. I mean bully on ps2 had better real time glass reflections. Other than that the game is beautiful
