Another graphics comparison between the xbox 360

Actually, I have to say...I have 480p and my PS3 looks better than those shots. I don't know what they did to those pictures, but...whatever.

Those pics seem exactly like what i see on my HDTV at 1080i.

When you set the output to 480p, then the blurry look is removed, since it's not being upscaled.

The PS3 version is rendered in 640p and upscaled to 720p, and that's one of the reasons why it's more blurry looking.

I've heard that. I've had an EDTV forever, and I've been saving for HD...The only issue I have with 480p is that you can't tell what car something is from a certain distance, but in HD you can.

I play on composite 480i (Interlace vs Progressive) and there is NO blur, that isn't intended. The graphics are just fine. The color is what is somewhat surreal in it's make up, the effects are obvious depending on the time of day. After seeing all the Xbox content reviews I can say the PS3 version still delivers on the promise. Don't worry about choosing which version, you'll like both. OPM claims the PS3 version is better, but I think they neglected the actual faults it DOES have like freezing on intense game action scenes. That is most problematic. There is also the frame jitters with cameras near walls and close ups on Niko

HAZE<----AMAZING!!

MGS4<---- WILL KICK ANY OTHER GAMES ASS ANYDAY!!

MGS4 will be a great game, i'm sure of that one, but thankfully i rented Haze as it's not a good game.

haze is brilliant, yes it takes a while to get into but its a truly amazing story line!!

So far, U N C H A R T E D is the best graphic and easy to acclimate into gameplay PS3 Must-Have game. I don't accept the "it's too short" argument, a lot of time went into making it work effectively and look lush and interactive in it's 3D and integrated cut-scene work. The palette of the two color wise is interesting to note. The tree leaves must be taken into consideration as well as grass.

Graphics are graphics.

When you play old skool video games back to back like I do graphics don't mean as much anymore.

That's only when you're concerned with B/C, AKA Backwards compatibility and the PS3 has you covered with video upscaling capability. All in all a purchase of PS3 should depend on what games you hope for in the future, not just those announced for now, and the features lists which is QUITE high, and is more then just BluRay thrown in for the price. In the end BluRay will come down to storage...read Rolling Stone on newstands now where Neil Young plans to issue all of his back-catalog on BluRay, not only for videos but High-resolution audio, forsaking the DVD Audio and SACD to use BluRay for the same results. Rolling Stone says other musicians are championing the cause for better audio and embracing BluRay as a result!

It's rather exciting to have this affordable edge.

I was stupid and got a 40g PS3. No backwards compatibility, but I was smart enough to plug in both the PS3 and PS2 at the same time.

Good thing I got component cables. icon14.gif

I really don't care if I have HD or not. I just put in my old Driver game for PS1, and I was just amazed at the progression of graphics through the years. I'm just happy I have PS3...

From what I see. The 360 is all aliased with tons of artifacts; the PS3 is smooth. There is a subtle colour different between the two. The 360 is way less populated.

you are all talking about the orange effect of the ps3 ver and the grey dull thing about the 360, u can tweak it in the display options and f*ck around with your t.v. display

there u go problem solved no more fanboy arguements colgate.gif

Do you have both versions?

Well i do.

And i'm sure you do not, because both have the same amount of ped's and cars on screen at the same time.

Myself i have a PS3. In half of those screen shots i prefered the PS3 in the other half i prefered the 360...

But IMO it is a very simple. I choose the PS3 because of one reason only. Blu-Ray!!!! I wanna watch Blu-Ray movies on my massive bloody plasma, and the PS3 gives me that exact option ontop of playing awesome games with incredible detail

In the end if someone wants to say "Mine looks better" congrats on you, does it make u feel better?

Well actually 360 has more and better games on the market than ps3. But i do agree that MGS4 will kick everyones ass. Im considering buying a ps3 just for it. (if it doesnt come on 360, i wish it does *fingers crossed*)

Does anyone actually have any comment or comparison on the controller feel and gameplay on either system? I played all of the previous games on a PS controller and find the Xbox controller quite a bit different.

I used to think the original xbox controllers were waayyy too big when i had my ps2, but when i bought a 360 (they're a bit smaller than original) i could never go back to ps controllers. My hands are too big now biggrin.gif ps controllers are so small.

People with PS3(me included) Think it looks best on PS3 and are happy.

People with XBOX 360. Think it looks best on XBOX 360 and are happy.

So if we are all happy with the way it looks regardless of the console we have why the flames of fury. devil.gif

By the way I have yet to see a good comparison. Most are srcuffy looking, diffrent time of the day, not to mention video option were never shown.(Whether they are identical).

One thing is for sure the XBOX 360 without a hardD makes it is easier to spot the pop-up in game. But that is understandable.

Re: The blurry and color/darkness prob on the PS3.

When I first played the game, it was way too dark, and was blurry too.

Just go in the display options, there is an option which is on by default which I turned off and the blurry is gone, and also I turned the contrast/brightness up a bit (70-80%) and the sat. I turned down to 30% which fixed the color exageration.

I can't comment on the XBox 360 version as I don't have that (My sister's b/f has one, I can ask him if he got GTA4 next time I see him)

While one of the 4 reasons I chose PS3 over XBox 360 when buying a 7th gen console for this game is "I have moral issues with contributing to Bill Gates's wealth" I'm not really putting down the XBox version or anything.

Both look alright to me and honestly i couldn't care less about which one is better.

Also, has anyone tried turning off the flicker filter on the PS3 (not sure if the 360 has it)? In my oppinion the game looks sharper and better like that.

where is this 'flicker' option in the PS3 options menu, I have not been able to find it......

It's interesting that GTA IV shows much more differences between the two than other games. COD4 looks almost identical on both. Where there are differences the PS3 always looks a little softer/blurrier, I guess Sony likes soft edges.

It looks like Rockstar hasn't totally mastered PS3 porting yet

The reason its blurry is because of the flicker filter. If you want to try and turn it off its under the display options ( where you have other options like contrast and saturation) I've always played with the filter off and now i tried turning it on just to see what difference it makes, i cant stand playing with it, everything turns blurry because of it :S

People the 360 version looks a little bit better why don't you ps3 fans admit that?

They made the PS3 pics look way bad on some of those. Sometimes it is blurry but not bad enough to confuse you, and the thing is I play my GTA4 in HD by component cables and in 720p, and it looks a lot more sharper than these crap pics.

Comparisons taken at different times of day= Utter Fail icon13.gif

He is right, this comparison is a complete failure... should have taken screen of the water roads and landmarks at the same time of day....lmao too many variables in those pics as well.

I wish I would have gotten an Xbox 360 if I knew how sh*t the graphics were going to be on the PS3. I guess I just didn't want to pay for multiplayer on 360, but the multiplayer NEVER works on the PS3 anyway so it doesn't even matter! F*ck me.

I do like the internet browser on the PS3 though. I don't think the 360 has that.

I prefer the warmer colour of the ps3, but that's just me. They're both the same basically. Why fight over it. Boring and pathetic.
