Free Mode is not Deathmatch!

Quite simply because they are narcissistic, juvenile idiots with no other way of getting their proverbial "rocks off".

E-Street Runners? Is that some sort of a GTA4/Bruce Springsteen related clan?!

Well I always kill everybody in free mode because I want to and I have the freedom to do whatever I want.

In co-op I always kill the people on my team and start arguments with my team member at a crucial moment in the mode. Then I just end up shooting them. It's funny as f*ck.

you are seriously one sad person

In theory, although the idea never went past the conceptual phase. So, the sole "Runner" in this case would be moi.

There is a good way to avoid this. Fortunately, the idiotic people who think free mode is deathmath are the same people that have no idea what strategy or skills are. The second they spawn they just start shooting at the closest person nearby.

Just yesterday this pink guy kept killing me in free mode for no reason whatsoever. So when I respawned I ran away and found a car as fast as I could. Then I loaded up on health, armor, and weapons. I drive over to his location, get shot at twice, then blow his head off with an AK-47. He respawns nearby, charges me with the pistol, and I shoot him full of lead again. This happens 3 or 4 more times. When my armor gets a little low, I just drive off, find more armor, then come back and kill him.

Another good way to solve this problem is to turn friendly fire off. If you do, nobody in free mode will be able to die from other players. They can only die from cops, falling, etc. This will usually force the deathmatchers to cooperate with you. Now this is not always the case, I have had a few instances where one guy follows me around and keeps trying to kill me while the bullets go right through me.

yeah i know what you mean are they that braindead that they have to use all there bullets to realise that they cant kill you?

also 1 or 2 games when i have friendly fire off they have just kept running me over or firing RPG's at me so that i fly and roll all over the flace untill i die... even on TEAM deathmatches when there surposed to help me!!!

I can recall one such case that occured about a week ago; I simply ran circles around the individual. They continued to fire rockets, and eventually ended up annihilating themselves in the process. I did not escape without injury, but I wasn't wiped out, either. They left soon thereafter.

The world is full of trollops.

This topic is fu**ing lame. It's free-mode, therefore you are free to do what you want. In my case, that freedom entails finding you whinging little bitches and killing you all in free roam mode!

Yeah, because that must make you feel all tough inside?

This may seem retarded to some.. but the more you bitch about them killing you in Free Roam, the more they will do it. They see it bothers you and like to feed off your anger.

Just a thought, carry on.

I'd prefer free mode with friends to single player.

i mean, its practically

single player + your own character + alot of weps + with friends.

anyone else think that?

as for people killing you, you cant avoid the occasional noob every now and then.

i'd suggest play with Higher Rank people or your friends.

Usually I don’t care, as I always go to the opposite side of the map to where everyone is playing. Last night I was at Cluckin Chicken in The Triangle trying to get the invisibility glitch (jumping through the wall at the toilet) because I had no one online to help me hold the door open. I was using motorbikes.

Spent a good 10 mins driving around in circles to get a motorbike, I eventually found one and headed inside. All of a sudden the free roam death match started getting closer and closer to where I was. I ignored them and kept trying to jump through this dam wall. I was sooooo close. The two of them come running through the door armed to the teeth with rocket launchers. I put all my weapons away and started tapping the L1 button (To say hello, they did not have mics)

Did they just go about their? No the c*nts blew me up, so I tried it again. Same thing, they just kept shooting me. I thought by putting my guns away and not even attempting to run or shoot back, that they might take the hint and f*ck OFF. Nope, in the end I just jacked out of the game and found another quiet free roam to test.

Yeah that's the issue. Some people really think it's a literal deathmatch, in which the goal is to kill every single person you see.

They don't think about the fact that they're playing Free Mode, so it doesn't really occur to them (and/or they're just assholes/kids, most are) that not trying to combat them means you want to be left alone.

The only way to be safe is to constantly move around, host your own game with FF off, or play private games only.

Too bad. (and I wish they'd at least put a spawn protection on)

No, not tough inside, I just find it fun, which is the general idea of the game in the first place. Seriously, this topic is beyond me. As I said, it's called free-roam, therefore I roam freely, doing what I finsd amusing. If you stopped taking things so seriously you may have some fun too. You should try going out to get a girlfriend!

I hate that.

Then they just blast you. I hate that.

Most try to make a distinction between, and keep separate, the virtual and real world.

Or are you like that 'IRL' too?

Exactly. You'd think they'd get the hint if you put your weapons away and press L1 to greet them. Invite me if you need someone to help you do something.

I couldn't agree with this strategy more; I usually find myself in the Acter area of Alderney (in a desperate act of self-preservation), as this seems to be the most unpopular section in all of "Free Mode". I've never, in the entire month of playing this title on-line, seen anyone stick around in that particular section of the island for more than a cursory moment. It's strange, really. Most of the action occurs in central Algonquin, so I tend to keep away from that area as much as humanly possible.

I don't know if it's the superficial glitz of Star Junction or the smell of greenbacks wafting from the Exchange, but it just seems to draw the idiots.

I've noticed that too. That, and Middle Park. I guess it's because all the nice weapons spawn in easy reach there, and it's probably the most recognizable area of the game. Lots of glitz and straight roads just begging to be driven on.

I don't go in FM anymore. If I wanna explore, I go to party mode.

I tend to do the majority of exploration in single-player; however, "Free Mode" is fun if you want to kick back and take on a small army of Liberty's finest with a friend or two. Besides -- it's nice to see Liberty City through the eyes of a common (native?) thug once in a while, and not through those of a hardened Merchant Marine.

But, I can understand your reluctance towards the mode.

the other night i entered free mode, and the morons had the spawn rate set to Near, and they just kept shooting each other. it was rediculously stupid and boring... SPAWN, your behind the guy, shoot shoot, kill, shoot, kill, get shot, die.

i had my mic on so i asked them what the hell they were doing? at this point i even stopped shooting, just stood there, and they were still shooting me like they were making money.

they had mics, but weren't responding so i said, "Hey moron. What the hell is the point of this? What are we doing?"

then, talking as if i didn't even exist, he told his other buddy.. "Oh, he's just being gay and whining."

wtf...

so i grabbed a car and got out of the spawn range... on my way out clipped one of the morons but didn't kill him, he says, in that lame juvenile sacarsm tone.. "Oh, you're so cool, you're hitting me with a car."

??? what the f*ck does that even mean? is hitting people with cars considered showing off now?

anyway... loaded up, grabbed stuff and a helicopter. then proceeded to snipe them from rooftops, dump grenades, and RPG them to sh*t until they got frustrated and left.

not bad for a whining gay noob

Sometimes you get sucked in... I always do horrible and die so much more than I kill. Why is that? In TDMs and DMs with the same amount of targets, I do so much better, but in free mode turned DM, I get my ass severely handed to me by 90% of the people there.

.Up&Coming.

Yeah, it pisses me off. My brother, who's older than me at 21 takes my game and plays on my PSN name (because I'm a loving sister). He goes into free roam, and starts blasting everyone. I tell him that it gets people really mad, and that there's death match for that, and he says, "I like free mode better."

He's such an idiot. So, if someone sees my name PanzIV on PSN blowing people up in free mode, that would be my brother. He's obsessed. Sorry.. He's getting a PS3 soon, so there you go.

Perhaps they've some true-life experience when it comes to ambushing? I, too, have found that the tables can be turned almost instantaneously in "Free Mode". Why this is the case is as much a mystery to me as it is to you, friend.

oh no... one videogame player just alluded to another videogame player being a virgin dork. how ironic. i guess in order to be a badass straight cool videogame player you need to have the lexicon of 15 year old highschool linebacker.

nice going douche sack

i think the bigger lament here with free mode is just how goddamn uncreative people are in it. playing Carebare Deathmatch in Free Mode is just a waste of time.

i usually play free mode to try something weird or just to grief care bare deathmatching douche bags. actually, it's probably just to grief Carebare Deathmatchers.

my favorite move lately is if somone is being poor trash, and is either arguing with their fat girlfriend/mom or playing music loudly while their mic is on, i'll turn my mic on and stick it in front of one of my babies. i have 2, so one is usually crying. sure, i'm used to the sound but other f*ckers find it annoying.

Brick i hope you have a PS3, i would love to snipe you from a rooftop while you hear crying infants.
