Lit3
I have advice for all three of you. Don't go turning this thread into a PS3 vs X360 argument. But on topic: I don't think there has been any 'real' solutions to the online problems yet. Just ones that help a few people but not others. I have the problems too, but I am just going to sit back and wait to see if a proper solution pops up, or if Rockstar find a fix for it. I don't want to go buy a new router or do something that might mess it up only to find that a new patch is released with a fix for it.

Awesome not to sound bad mate but at least its not just me having the problems Have rockstar even put out a statment about it yet or are they still keeping quiet? I know the last thing I want to do is fork out some cash for something that is totally not needed. Thanks for the help man.
gxc999
Message to retard fanboys, shut the hell up. None of you are internet experts as per occupation, are you? Okay, then. It's either your connection or Rockstar. Everyone has complained about BT, so that's a possibility. However, we also know of Rockstar's repeated problems, it's likely a combination of both. Here's a funny problem of mine from two days ago, I was fine in playing Hangman's Noose and Bomb The Base etc, but team deathmatches were nonstop booting me, although single player deathmatches went fine. This probably was a server problem. If none of the games work, I'd guess it's on your end.

wartox
I think you can use the port forwarding for PSN and GTA IV servers. The port numbers can be found at Take Two's website. I'm having the same problems, I've contacted the Take 2 support and I was advised to use the port forwarding too. I haven't tried yet but I'll go for it - may be a solution. Arthur Hucksake
Hi there folks, i'm new here but this online mess is driving me bonkers. Does having UPNP enabled / disabled have any positive / negative effects? I always thought having UPNP enabled meant you didn't have to forward ports? EDIT: Found these on the TakeTwo site. In order to play GTA IV via the PS3 network you will need to open the following ports on your router or modem: UDP ports: 6672, 28900 TCP ports: 8001, 27900 Edited May 24, 2008 by Arthur Hucksake

If you have UPnP enabled it DOES THAT ON ITS OWN ACCORD AS THAT'S WHAT THE PROTOCOL IS SUPPOSED TO DO!!!!. Opening manually is just retarded... I know... rockstar suggested the same thing to me and it hasn't worked; still can't join 95% of games I want to. I can host though.
CukyDoh
Just posted this in one of the other threads about this issue. And you're definately not alone in still having issues unfortunately! I'm starting to wonder if it's PS3 hardware specific. I've tried many, many times in my house with 2 PS3's to connect to GTA IV multiplayer. Now, both of them have the exact same settings on the consoles, and I've tried various configurations with my router, forwarding some or all ports to each, cables or wireless, etc.. One of them, no matter what the settings can play in well ove 90% of games. The other less than 10%, if that. Tried having both or just one connected to the network at once, and settings up ports, etc. etc. to deal with just that one. It makes no difference though, and one still connected nearly always, whilst the same one as before, nearly never. Both PS3's play plenty of other games online flawlessly and GTA is the first game to present problems. Temp Fix: The only way the not working PS3 can manage to get into a game consistently is by hosting a game itself. That way it never gets kicked (so far!), but means we do have to wait for a long time for players to appear.
thebritishbulldog
http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=350863 Please complain to rockstar as they don't know there is a problem. ALl of us having issues are having exactly the same issues: We can not join many MP quick games ("connection to one or more.....") We can not join invited games ("that game session is no longer....") We CAN host games only! If we don't start complaining, nothing is going to be fixed. Phone them NOW!
wartox
don't forget that it cannot match many players at the same time like the CoD4 did at first ( PSN ). The patch should include the ability to make 16 player matches easily. All I have is 4 player matches.
