GTAIV is a big step backwards in gameplay

i cant beleive people complain about such stupid things. san andreas was the worst game in the series for me. gta 4 is the best, and i hope the series keeps going in this direction. i definetly wasnt disappointed with gta 4, but i will be with next one if its like san andreas. gta 4 is serious. getting fat and giving niko a mohawk would ruin the feel. in san andreas everything was a joke. but it wasnt funny. and it wasnt what i wanted. to me gta is about being a criminal, its about commiting crimes to earn money. its about driving and shooting, not all that extra useless crap that sa had. if you want a game like sa play saints row because its supposed to be like that. the other gtas besides sa were much better. gta 4 returned to that style with better gameplay, and graphics and new features that add to the gameplay. youre not a real gta fan if small unimportant things that have no place in gta like tattoos and basketball are more important than the actual gameplay.

Well none of the reviews for SA seem to agree with you or the the sales for SA don't seem to agree with you because as to date it's the 2nd highest rated GTA and is not only the highest selling GTA game but also the highest selling game of all time with 21.5 million copies sold.

 

But people have different preferences and me along with alot of other people enjoy SA more just like you and others enjoy IV more.

Well, I just did the math, and $500,000,000 USD sold, divided by $60 USD for each game, gave me like 8.5 million copies sold.

Actually we're both wrong. It sold 3.6 million WW day 1 but by the end of week 1 is sold 6 million WW. Lets not forget those overpriced Special Editions were 89.99.

 

So all we know so far the game has pushed 6 million WW by the end of week 1 so I'd guess it sold another 1.5 million so I'd say IV is currently at 7-7.5 million WW and by years end it'll probably be at 10 million but I doubt it'll pick up much more after 2007. Maybe an additional 2 million more which would make it beat III by 1 million by the time III's run ran out.

Kotaku had the article when R* reported that IV made 500 million by it's 1st weeks end and that was about 2 weeks ago and the only other source is wikipedia.

 

Also I already disclaimed my 4 million copy theory my last post so why bring it back up?

Tanks would be insane. I really wanted the SWAT tank in San Andreas, the blue thing you used in like one mission to break a wall or two....

 

I even got it back to my safehouse, saved the game and it had vanished

 

I remember it as feeling faster than the tank but really just as strong. It also had a watergun I think? It would be so much fun online especially if other players could shoot from inside/on top.

 

Imagine having tanks online with people sitting on the sides/inside shooting!!!!!

Everyone, simmer down. Some of the SA features rocked, some were dumb. We all seem to agree that planes, robberies and purchasable property need to come back.Those three for me are by far the biggest. Everyone obviously can't love every feature and every version, because if we did that, we'd literally be lemmings. There's a little thing called personal preference. Overall, SA has a higher replay value IMO because of the wider variety of missions. The games are very

nearly equal but I'd give SA the small edge. Remember, this is the first game with a new engine!

I don't know why people keep complaining. GTA IV is the GTA 3 of the next gen world. The Next GTA will have more features, like vice city did and the one after that will blow our minds like San Andreas. The point is, this GTA is fun as and rockstar made it very similar as far as gameplay goes, to GTA III. The money in GTA 3 was TO EASY, so is this game. The ability to buy houses didn't exist in GTA 3, nor does it in GTA IV. The Ability to do all the fun sh*t will come in later installments.

 

This game is killer. Stop bitching and realize that it will only get better, JUST LIKE the first lot of 3d GTA's did.

Ok so I know all you real GTA fans are pissed. I am. It seems that GTA has lost it's epicness. And to blame it on the character?! Thats bullcrap. Anyways I put together a little list of things you can do in san andreas that got forgotten.

1. skydiving (was my fav. jumping out of a plane at high altitude to fall directly on your destination... epic)

2. tatoos (It shows freaking tattoos in the opening crappy drawings load time thingy)

3. graffiti (I see fat chicks getting up and i cant...)

4. fly an airplane (simple mechanics that just should have been added)

5. basketball ( I miss playing hoops and multiplayer online gun toting craziness woulda been amazing! )

6. gang wars ( I understand Niko isnt in a gang but he is a freaking gun for freaking hire! I might be wrong but I think New York might have some gangs. and pledging your allegiance to one might have been a brilliant addition. or maybe even creating your own hitman gang woulda been nice ? )

7. drug dealing from the tastee freeze truck (ok i know what you are thinking. tedious 30 min missions by the docks. It still woulda been fun to make money off all the crackheads in LC.)

8. customization of cars ( i dont think i need to say anything other than pee on rockstar)

9. real estate (WTF i have to kill friends to get a nice place to live?!)

10. owning your own business (again. pee on rockstar)

12. Krav Maga is the ulrimate self-defence style. So why the f*ck would Niko start learning some f*cking ninja moves? And you don't just "learn" a new fighting style. Niko was trained in the army, where they used Krav Maga.

13. Mmm, you have a RPG-7, don't you?

14. The gambling was one of the most idiotic things in San Andreas. I tried that only a couple of times. Besides, there isn't a lot of casinos in places like that (New York). But maybe an online poker would have been nice... Or is there a one already?

anyways GTA IV is in my opinion far less fun especially in replayabilty after beating it but it's still 1 of the best games of all time to me. Honestly I don't think any game has matched SA in terms of scale, fun and replayability yet. And yes SR was an extremely fun game despite it's lacking storyline, repetitive missions, corny dialouge and f*cked up difficulty on certain missions but I can't wait for SR 2 just because it's going to be all out fun like the 1st.

i am not of the mind to gripe about what GTAIV is lacking until all of GTAIV is released.. at least 60% of us are getting two expansion packs in the next year, remember? it's not unlikely that a lot of features & side games will be unlocked with DLC..

EDIT: except for one thing - planes? all you can do is fly in a circle or crash into something. there is exactly ONE airport in Liberty City. they only make sense if new territory is added to IV or we get a bigger landscape with whatever GTA V is.

It's only "removed" if it was in IV in the first place.

 

What you would call "removed" was things they officially announced, but never put into the game, such as duffel bags, etc.

 

However, the things they SAID they would put in, but ultimately didn't, are so minor that nobody should really care.
