I am getting annoyed with the same tired excuses as to why R* left so much stuff out. "Oh the story wouldn't make as much sense and be as believable if Niko had a pink mohawk and big muscles and a car with hydraulics." "Niko is a lost soul torn by the horrible ravages of war, he wouldn't want to pimp his car out and get the bling bling." I find it hard to believe he really cares about sparing lives when I kill everyone I want to. Even Scarface did better at that, you couldn't even shoot the innocents.

 

The more features included, the more small stupid little things you can do, the more customization available, the more believable everything becomes. In real life I could go on a shooting spree, I could go on a shooting spree naked and with a mohawk if I so choose. Why do people think the story would be unbelievable if SOMEONE ELSE playing on a DIFFERENT TV in ANOTHER LOCATION that would NEVER BE SEEN by you (you being whoever it has to be) made a CONSCIOUS DECISION that they thought was the MORE ENTERTAINING way to PLAY THE GAME.

Could someone just answerer one question i have.... WHY??? why do you want customizable cars? Haircuts? tatoos? giong to the gym? Flats ect... i cant understand why youd want to waste time on that crap, when you could be shooting a cop in the balls at close range!!!. i'm to busy diong that stuff to make time to do it AGAIN in a bloody game. GTA has always been a pick up and play title, i think the new realism angle of IV is great, and the deeper the story the better. Adding these 'sim' traits would turn a gritty game into a flimsy title... 'Squids Row!'. In my opinion IV is the next gen version of the original game, those after, the sims version of GTA, (in my opinion) are looking for a game to exist in rather than a game to have a FUN with!

i can't argue with that... considering the art assets in the game, there are many non-functional objects in the city...

 

* driving range

* skatepark

* go cart track

* all the carnival rides

* mini golf course

* basketball course

* and i can't buy booze at the liquor store

 

i really wish i could control my level of intoxication and use all that cash to play through the game drunk.

 

oh well though, the games is genius as it is without all the silly stuff.

No, they just wanted to go back to the basics, what's wrong with that ?. Iv is some what like Vice City but with a few more features in set in LC. I loved Vice City and still play it to this day. (Tommy is badass btw)

 

If you can be happy with Vice City chances are you are happy with Iv. IMO IV is old skool and people who came in around the SA stage won't like it since they are use to SA...but hey that's just IMO.

As for planes, there is the point that LC is too small for planes, but I think it has more to do with Rockstar playing is safe. That might sound strange, rockstar playing it safe, but with 9/11 and all that, they would have gotten more negative attention than they wanted. If you want to blame someone for planes being unavailable in GTAIV, blame bin laden.

but basketball would have been something easy to improve on and woulda been uber badass multiplayer. seriously. guns and basketball woulda been sick or they coulda just gone realistic with it. either way they coulda included it. and that is a hilariously sad point about the bin laden and no planes in lc. i wonder if that is the reason. that would be so crazy.

Many are actually more pissed off about the lack of interiors, the lack of innovation, lack of interactivity. A new feature in GTA IV was relationships. The system is boring and fairly stupid. Yea you can take people out to eat but you don't even get to enter these restaurants, you can't walk into a bar and get hammered. When you drink and drive Niko complains and cops instantly cover your ass and run your car off the road. It's lame. And if you want 100% you have to deal with it.

 

If they were going to have this big, huge, relationship feature, why not make it cool. Why can't you call a bitch over to your pad, throw parties, something. Instead we get these little, sparse, empty safehouses that are almost pointless.

 

Why no 24/7's to buy crap in, shoot up, or more importantly rob. There are no interiors when R* preached there would be a lot. No banks to cause havoc in, WTF. No office building, no shopping centers, department stores, nothing except mission related interiors and fast food.

 

If I had it my way we would be able to interact with pedestrians more. Maybe invite them places, rob them at gunpoint, talk to them. Just new and innovative sh!t, not the same exact formula.

People keep saying this. But do really think were going to see GTA games as often as we did on the PS2???

 

I doubt it. There's too much attention to detail now.

 

We might see one more installment on these consoles, but that's it. Don't expect a Vice City and San Andreas. That's way to much work for any development team to handle. Think about it.
