hsacic
In the intro to GTA IV, you can see the chef of the Platypus look at a big diamond, and then slip it into the soup.. Can anyone tell me what it´s all about ? I suppose it´s smuggling, but is there anything else to do with Ray Boccino´s diamonds ? Thanks.

thebritishbulldog
It wasn't soup, it was a cake mixture. The dude is baking the diamond into a cake for smuggling purposes.
AntiPersonnel
it means a lot of shady things are about to happen in this game. or maybe the chef works for bulgarin. and the bikers stole it from them. i remember bulgarin claimed the diamonds were originally his or soemthing
cadm9410
the whole diamond story will probably be in the DLC
RandomAlec
Brilliant, the DLC will be a story on diamonds, you guys are too funny. Anyway, it's just showing how the ship "Platypus" is doing more than just bringing foreigners like Niko into Liberty City, it's smuggling in diamonds and even bringing over cars (as they also show in the cutscene). No big deal.

DODdeed
There is already a diamond mission in the story mode. They get lost on a truck.Later on you can read in the newspaper that a bum finds it and now he is a millionaire. Once i jacked an Infernus and a bum was in there lol. Tatertotts
I thought the diamonds at the beginning were the same diamonds that turn out to be at the center of the entire story. Edited May 23, 2008 by Tatertotts

Dolemite500
On the weazel news updates at the beginning they spoke of mysterious deaths revolving around the platypus ship. So it's not mentioned, but it could be possible they were stolen by ray's men or someone else.

Wow, you need to play the game again, that's definitely not the center of the story.

Wow, you need to play the game again, that's definitely not the center of the story. Maybe you're right; "central" was imprecise. But they play a part in the stories of Bulgarin, Demitri, Ray, Pegorino, Phil, Gracie (and Packie), Luca, Issac, and Nico only finds Florian because he helped Ray with the diamonds. So there's that.
