Forcefield
Can someone please explain why the f*ck 8 Ball runs onto the ship before I fire a single shot? He gets killed before I can even aim the rifle. Been stuck on this for weeks on end.

Forcefield
PS2 version I'm afraid.
Mince
He shouldn't run onto the ship until you fire the first shot. Do you use the 'peds riot' cheat? That could be the reason. If you can't think of any solution, then ignore the rifle and run onto the ship, and kill the Cartel before 8-ball gets there.
Forcefield
No peds riot cheat. I think its because I drove too close to the boat and attracted the Colombians attention. The game interpreted that as shots fired and 8 Ball ran onto the boat. I'm trying alternative methods, you see, as i'm rather crap with a sniper rifle. Haven't tried actually going on board the boat yet, but surely I'll die in the explosion/drown?
Mince
Maybe if you just kill the first two Cartel at the entrance to the ship, run up there, and only go far enough to kill the farthest guards. Once you do so, run off the ship as fast as you can. If that doesn't work, you may want to drive up onto the ship and run over the Cartel so you can escape faster. lloydo
Get on top of the big factory via stairs and snipe, have to be quick though, once you shoot any Cartel member they all know where 8-Ball is and will blow his ass off.
gtamodder
Firstly, kill the 2 next to the Cartel Cruisers, and when you start shooting the ones on the Boat, start shooting from left to right, when you kill the Cartel on the boat. I remember I was stuck on the mission for about 2 weeks, when I did it this way I passed the mission every time.
rollerball34
Can someone please explain why the f*ck 8 Ball runs onto the ship before I fire a single shot? He gets killed before I can even aim the rifle. Been stuck on this for weeks on end. What i did was went up to the buliding across from the ship(the stairs are at the side some where). Next i snipe the first two guards the then the two on top. Next i started to shoot all the barlers on the ship and then they were all dead 8-ball blew up the ship and thats how i pass the mission. Flesh-n-Bone
That mission requires sniping skills. And on a side note: Why are the Cartel attacking me from the very beginning? I went to Staunton by the cheat "chittychittybb" to Staunton during the mission and when I came into their turf they started shooting me. It's just stupid. Been stuck on this for weeks on end. It's because you used too many cheats too early in the game. The same thing kept happening to a couple of my friends years ago, and that was the reason why. crazymodder
please dont getting very, very off topic. now we are helping a person in his mission, not discussing Cartel's sh*tty assh*les. anyhow, drive a truck or van and block 8-ball. then, fire the first shot and he will try running up to the boat but he get blocked. how could he run? then just snipe off the two Cartels who are next to the Cartel Cruiser. then you run up to the boat and kill the other Cartels. if 8-ball still get blocked, get off the boat and drive the truck/van away. you will MISSION PASSED! $150000
Mainland Marauder
you see, as i'm rather crap with a sniper rifle. Sorry, but this is still your problem. Don't get in a rush while shooting. Just move the center of that crosshair over each Cartel guy and fire. I know I make it sound easy, but it's something you've got to practice. I know it gets annoying to fail over and over again, but maybe you'll get better at sniping. I think last time I did this and passed I ran in from behind the warehouse nearest the ship, then climbed up to the sniping position. I tried to avoid the area immediately in front of the boat before it was time to get on, so as not to set anything in motion before I was ready to start killing Cartel members. Sorry to bump a kinda-old topic but this was a mission that gave me a lot of trouble too. "You tell me exactly what you want, and I'll explain to you very carefully why it cannot be." Radrew
this mission is easy, as Marauder said, you just have to be calm when aiming the sniper, heck i don't even think you have to train too much, if you still can't aim it fast enough try using a difrent controller or something :S
Michael Hunt
Here's how I got past it...playing on the original PS2 version, for the record. Not sure if that makes a difference, but just in case, right? After 8-Ball gets out of your vehicle, get out, turn around, and run in the opposite direction from the way you drove in. Run the long way around the warehouse with the rooftop stairs to the trailers, where you find the adrenaline pill. After you make sure you have a sprintable weapon (like an uzi or whatever will work that's close to the sniper rifle in your rotation), take the pill. Immediately haul ass to the stairway, staying as close to the wall as possible so as not to draw the attention of the cartel people. Once at the stairs, you have the option of going to the roof, though I managed it from what I might call the mezzanine section between the ground and the roof. At the time, I felt it better to save time spent under the influence in case it wore off before I was finished. From the corner of the mezzanine platform, I did what everyone says by taking out the ground-level cartels first, then moving to the ship and taking them down from left to right. From my position, I was further aided by the guard rail as a visual tool, though others may find this a nuisance. As it happened, I had more than enough time, even with the added wait between shots, to line up the red dot and take them out, which is why in retrospect I suppose you can go roofside before letting them have it. Funktipus
I tried something different the last time I played GTA III. I just ran on the ship, gunning down Colombians left & right. First time I did it this way, I got shot in the back. Nailed the mission on my second try.
Vanzant
Am I the only one who just runs up there with an AK-47 and takes them out on the boat one by one? I'm not gonna be One that says the mission is Easy, just takes some runs thats all. Once you have done it enough times you master it.
Imotti
In PC version, the mission is very easy, but in the console its damn hard. I remember when i played it on ps2, i played that mission like 30 times over and over again, because i failed everytime. I have never tryed run to the ship and take out the enemy before 8ball, maybe next time when i start new game, i will try that way.
lloydo
I wonder what happens when Claude stays on the boat after the explosion, probably just spaws on land i'd say.
BlueHero711~
Columbians firing I do not believe would make 8-Ball get on the ship, main.scm uses this: if 02D5: player $PLAYER_CHAR firing_weapons_in_rectangle 1610.563 -614.5625 1340.875 -1074.5 0 *Blah blah blah* Self Explanatory
Flesh-n-Bone
Actually yes, if the Colombians start shooting 8-Ball will all of sudden run up to the ship. I remember driving too close to the ship so the Colombians started to attack me.
Bartleby
I wonder what happens when Claude stays on the boat after the explosion, probably just spaws on land i'd say. Yeah, he just spawns around the area where the ramp to the ship starts.
Steve Crook
Yes, I just did it He spawns again on the dockside after the ship blows up. The advantage is that you get to keep all 30 shots in the sniper rifle. That can be useful. The disadvantage is that the Cartel Cruisers don't seem to be there after the ship is blown up. I used to always take one. But there are other ways of getting one when you get to the next island which you'll be doing quite soon after this mission. 8-Ball follows you onto the ship as soon as you start firing. But he is sensible enough to stay behind you and wait for you to clear the way. As the Columbians are firing at you they don't seem to hurt him at all. cyanide95
At the top of the ramp there are some red drums if you shoot them they will blow up saves you from aiming at the Cartels right beside them
