Bellic_Enterprises
I dont know if this has at all been discussed, in anyway ... but i think a GTA themed movie, would be great.... say for instance in followed the plot of GTAIV .. who would you have playing the charecters? ... ignoring wether or not they are English or American or indifferent, or what they have done before ... who would you have? I would like to see Ricky Gervias as Roman .. the two are very similar in appearance, and R.G could fly the flag for England in a film what would be likely to be made in the USA What about you guys .... blitsbebop
No, just no. Video game movies never turn out any good. If you want a GTA movie go watch Scarface or Ocean 11.
the all seeing eye
video game movies never really work out because they try to hard to base it on the game..... they should look at it as if they are making a movie not a movie based on a game
ItWasntMe
No. The whole point of GTa is that its supposed to be a movie that you make yourself. You make the action. If it was a movie then it would go against everything R* have worked for since the first GTa. As said, watch any of the moveis that the games reference and you will have a better time in both cases. Playing VC after watching scarface is great and I recommend it. Heat, Oceans 11 not so much... Goodfellas, Casino... The Departed... All great films which can put you in a GTa kinda mood. mcleod_69_69_69
There is a film called Grand Theft Auto made in the late 70's (77,78) it was Ron Howard's film he directed. It had something like most car crashes ever in a film.
explicitmo
No, just no. Video game movies never turn out any good. If you want a GTA movie go watch Scarface or Ocean 11. Yeah, well as always there are some exceptions to the rule... (I did like Resident Evil for example) But in GTA's case, they used elements of so many different movies in their games storyline or theme (f.e.: a lot of people loved "Vice City" the most and that one is a straight up copy of Scarface most of the time, it even copied almost the whole soundtrack), that they shouldn't make one out of a game! Just keep on doing what you are doing and everything gon be fine!!

Bellic_Enterprises
I think it is possible for game to make the transisition to a movie, as per Resident Evil etc .... I think also with the correct backing of directors and cast, it would be fantastic .... i see others of you are not in agreement
TinPotRay
It's not gonna happen. Not no way, not no how... Dan Houser has already said it like a MILLION times... The reasoning? As Dan puts it (and I'm paraphrasing here) R* are only interested in the interactivity afforded to you in videogaming, and don't see any attraction in throwing a story at an audience. It's not what GTA is about. Having said that, (I don't want it to look like I'm flaming the thread, which I'm not), I think if there ever was a GTA Movie it would be made up of so many celebrity guest slots and walk on parts that it wouldn't really work. TinPotRay
I see what your saying, .. its almost already "to famous" to be a successful film.... Exactly... Sort of... I work in the film industry and IMO it if was to be done it would have to be done with totally unknown actors rather than the likes of Tom Hanks etc. This is because of the way that GTA stories work. If the main character was an already very famous actor, it would detract from the power of the character, if you get me. But it would be in keeping with GTA if some of the other characters were famous... Sam Jackson springs to mind... But again it would have to limited to walk on parts and side characters for a striaght film story to work.

Inertiatic
No, just no. Video game movies never turn out any good. If you want a GTA movie go watch Scarface or Ocean 11. True that. The whole game is based upon giving you an interactive version of these sort of films. Hour and a half+ of Cutscenes done with real actors...even directed by scorsese / tarantino would be sh*t, GTA is a world to explore ourselves, that's the joy. Think about it. Now slap yourself for suggesting this. And again.
