Seeing as most people hear speak clear english, I say we figure out how many people speak ther languages besides english.

I started learning French this year, and next year I take French I. It is quite an easy language once you learn the alphabet and is good if you plan on moving to Europe after college.

So lets hear it!

Non, je ne suis pas l'francais. (for anyone who knows French, contradiction much?)

Just finished French II this year, and, believe it or not, I only know a few phrases in French. We mostly just watched random movies in French.

El caballo es un fuego.

^two years of Spanish right there^

Didn't care much for it. I'd rather start learning German, when I get time off work to go to college in the future.

English, Hindi and Marathi. I can also understand Gujarathi a little.

I think I should have opted for French as the second language in college which I didn't. confused.gif

My teacher must know less about France than we've been told. She told us it was "No, I do not speak French."

Not surprised though. I live in Tennessee. Here, if you can read and write, you've got a high school education. Ba-zing.

It's French anyway, I wouldn't lose sleep over getting it wrong.

I guess I could say I know a bit of German too, go their on a 6 monthly basis for weekends and stuff.

"No, I do not speak French." - Non, je ne parle pas francais.

What your teacher probably told you was "Non, je ne sais pas francais" which means "No, I don't know French." You perhaps got confused between "sais" (conjugation of the verb "savoir" in the first person) and "suis" (conjugation of the verb "etre" in the first person). Also, "francais" doesn't require any articulation and the l' only applies to words beginning with vowels. /nerd

Oh, and I speak Bengali, English, Hindi, French and learning Italian at the moment. I might try my luck with Spanish, too.

Je parle français et anglais, mais, je ne parle pas française souvent. Well, not very often at all. I took French up to grade 12 and never get a chance to use it, probably would've made more sense to learn Cantonese. Representin Hongcouver all da wai.

Other than my native English, I speak French, German, and a smattering of Russian. I can also read and translate Latin, and I can read and understand basic Spanish and Dutch, although I can't write or speak in those two.
