Stevie NEVER texted me! 98% done with game...

Recommended Posts

Two days ago I completed the mission "Smackdown". Since then, I've been waiting for that text from Brucie about car thefts, and I've also been waiting for Ray to call about my safehouse in Alderny. 3 game days have gone by since I finished "Smackdown" and I still have not heard from either.

Here is what i know.

My like % with Brucie was down to 60% and I had lost the ability to call for a chopper, so at one time it must have fallen below 40%

One of the prerequisits for "Smackdown" is that you have already completed the mission "Actions Speak Louder Than Words" I did not complete that mission until after "Smackdown"

I have not done any missions for Ray since I got to Alderney

My Brucie Like% is back up to 70% and I have the "call Heli" option Back. Two game days, and still no call.

I have never used a cheat (in any GTA)

ANyone know If I missed something. Missed some trigger. I thought I'd get the call from Ray about the safehouse immediately after completing "Smackdown".

My problem is solved. As soon as I finished Ray's first Mission "A Long Wat To Fall", I got the call from Brucie, a text from Stevie wanting a voodoo, and a text from Ray with my new craphole appartment.

I just did the same mission and got a call from Brucie about Stevie. What's weird, is the phone call seems familiar. I think it was one of those phone calls when it rang I got into a car... pressing Y, which rejected the call, or fell off a bike or something. So that's why in my first game it never happened.

So to get the call, you have to do

No 1. > SMACKDOWN > A LONG WAY TO FALL

...and Stevie's first txt just arrived.

Can i ask how do you guys check what's the relationship level (seen people typing 60% etc) with your friends? thanks.

dude dont quit yet. try this maybe it will work. go to the francis international airport and follow the signs to the multi level car park enter the car park and go right to the top. there will be a brown bobcat. get in, once you sit in at the bottom of the tv screen it will say you have found the car stevie is looking for. if you have the garage icon on your map then it means stevie must have sent you a text message you must have deleted it by mistake. with me what happened is after the third race i won for brucie he hooked me up with stevie and when i got the first message then the garage icon showed up on the screen.

try the francis airport option, maybe that is the first one. i will try to remember others that i have done and maybe one of those will be your first you never know. another is a sultan in alderny city in the drive of a big green house. the car is blue in color maybe try that.

My phone text message inbox is EMPTY. And I do see the garage icon on my map, it is located to the right of my savehouse on the island to the north.

if your at 98% and your messages are empty, then youve deleted it at some point without knowing it!

...and you need to go and check all 30 locations carefully. AGAIN. I've done 16 car thefts so far and found one that was pretty far away from the location given with the guide. It was the PMP600 in the far south of the second island. There may be more, so check them all carefully.

I am currently in the same situation. Stevie has never sent me a text message and I'm sitting at 98% completion. I know he has not sent me a text message because there is no option to delete his text messages when he requests a car. I have looked at multiple guides (text, picture, and video) detailing the location of the thirty cars in hopes of jump starting the process. Nothing has worked.

Has anyone encountered a solution for this problem yet?

Hello everyone I'm back. Just to give you guys an update, I still have no luck with Stevie. sad.gif I have re-checked all 30 locations, more than once. And I did what somebody here suggested, walking away and coming back to the location to see if a car appears, but no luck.

I'm using the official strategy guide and I'm using the map listed on this website, but no car for Stevie sad.gif And FYI a couple of locations in the official strategy guide were a little off from where they were supposed to be.

So I have decided to upload my save file to whoever wants to help me. Here is the link: http://rapidshare.com/files/120726215/GTA_IV-98_.rar.html This save file is using slot #12, so please backup your own save file if you wish to overwrite it!

Maybe I'm looking in the wrong place then? I sure hope someone can help me. If you do find the car, please let me know which car it is. biggrin.gif But if you can't find it either then I know that I'll never get that 100%... sad.gif

I know I am a new member, but this intrigued me enough to look into it (don't have anything else to do), so I downloaded the save file to take a looksie:

-Giga does have the Stevie garage on the mini-map.

-The garage wouldn't open for me (I am not sure how this works, because on a mission, I took the wrong car to him and it still opened and told me inside I had the wrong car).

-No text messages at all on phone (I'm not sure if those would transfer with a save or not? I'd think so, but I don't know).

-No emails (all deleted, unless same case as phone).

-Being very bored last night, I opened up an online Stevie guide and notepad and drove around looking for cars. I've done them on my own game, though my memory isn't the best, but I did not find any of the cars (I'd just write down the one I had looked for on Notepad).

-The entire time I looked for cars, I only received one text (left phone on) and that was from Kiki.

-When all of that failed, I did a Brucie race just to see if that would do anything and when I shut the game off, the only other text I had gotten was from Alex.

I'm gonna take another look at it after I get some food to eat, but there is a Rockstar email ([email protected]). Have you tried directly emailing them about the problem?

And Giga: do you own all of the clothing items in the game? smile.gif I know you have a lot of Russian store stuff at least smile.gif

You said the garage actually opened for you even though you had the wrong car? Please tell me how you managed to do that! Or are you talking about your own save file?

And thank you Sprue for trying out my save file smile.gif Yes I have all clothing from the game (also all ringtones and themes etc biggrin.gif ). Anyway I deleted all my texts and emails so that is why they didn't carry over.

The Grove, it is a PS3 save file (sorry to all XBOX360 owners trying to help). Just put the save file on a USB memory stick and put it in your PS3. Then copy that over to your PS3. Very easy! tounge.gif

I want more people to post back their results from my save file... colgate.gif

It opened for the wrong car on my own save file, not yours. Yours won't open (I looked inside the building using the first person/hood view bike trick and the arrow you drive into for the cars isn't even there, either, like the game is waiting for you to get the text that or doesn't appear until the door opens? I'm not sure, but I figure either/or).

Having all the clothing must be fun to scroll through...I was daunted by just your Russian shop selection O_O

And also, Grove: you can transfer save files with your PSP (if you have one). That's what I use for mine (have to put it in the USB connection mode for the PS3 to realize it's there).

Anyway, right now I'm just out of curiosity working on Brucie's like/respect, just seeing if that will help any (probably not, because I'm not sure I had either maxed when I got the Stevie stuff). We're at the strip club right now, lol.

i am also new member very curious about this post because i almost had the same problem. i read thru it all and would like to give some insight that wasn't given. i got the text and found the first car i needed but didn't know where to take it, so i ditched the car at my house and kept on going with the missions. I went thru the rest of the game and never went back to the stevie thing until now. i also ended up losing the first car that i found because i thought it was worthless and i didn't save it. Wanting to complete the game I remembered about the stevie car thing and fortunately i still had the first text. i went back to the location where i found the car the first time and it was there again, but when i got in it said nothing about being the car stevie needed. i took it to the garage anyway and luckily it opened, so now i'm on the way and recieving texts. Also worth mentioning, i had no idea why that garage was on the map for a while during my game progress, and it had never opened for me for any reason. Only until i got the first car he was looking for there did it open.

I have a PS3 as well and if i can figure out how i would like to give your status a try as well. So in all 30 locations not one car was there? or not one car entered said it was the car stevie was looking for, because that might not matter

*edit. I have tried to put it on a usb and then on my ps3 and i don't think the ps3 is reading it but there is other stuff on the usb. does that matter?

I checked all 30 locations and didn't see any car.

You have to unpack the .rar file and put the folder in it onto your USB memory stick. Then your PS3 can read it. And it doesn't matter if you have other things on your USB memory stick. And thanks for helping. smile.gif

BTW you need an unpacking program like WinZip or WinRAR. This is what I use http://www.rarlab.com/rar/wrar371.exe

I did notice something rather odd with your game save, though: sometimes I'd flip through the phone to look at messages and have no messages at all, even though I didn't delete any (had this happen yesterday, but thought it was just me being tired and not remembering I had deleted the Kiki message myself, but I can now confirm there is definitely a problem with the text messages saving on this file).

On your own save file if you do the first person/hood view bike trick, can you see a yellow arrow inside?

Since I'm done with the Stevie missions, the garage door opens when I'm near it now. I can try looking in from the back of the place, but it most likely does appear (the arrow). And on my save near the beginning of the game, the door is open with no arrow inside.

...and have only found 2 people including you with this problem and of course no definitive answer.

Make that 3. I received a call from Brucie, saying his friend Stevie may send us a Text message soon. That was last week. Have nearly finished all the story missions & still no text from Stevie.

I think I found out one reason why people might not be texted from Brucie about Stevey. I restarted my game, (saved over the complete game by accident cryani.gif ) And I did all of the Brucie missions AFTER Niko found out Dimitri is a trader, and you are sent to Bohan .

I am almost positive this is a cause of the glitch.

Is that what you did thegigabite? (Do Brucie missions after you go to Bohan)

Q&A

Q)Is it reversible?

A)I am trying to find out how to reverse it. (I will probably wait to finish my game then try and reverse it.

Q)What causes this.

A)Brucie is a jerk and if you don't do his missions right away he wont share his friend Stevie with you.

Q)Why was I an idiot and accidentally saved over my complete game?

A)When ever I saved I got into a motion so that as soon as the "pick a save slot" thing came up I would press X right away. I was so pissed off!! sign-clinton.gif < HaHa you didn't make president ass hole!

Have you accidentally turned on Sleep Mode?

Because this makes all mission based texts and phone calls go away until you turn it off again.
