New Engine - New era - eurphoria proven success?

Euphoria and RAge seem to work well together -

backnote - Im guessing R* have played the DLC card and given us a skeletol GTA platform - decreased the main scope so that they can get feed back of the community -and more importantly industry sales - feedback - and decide where they want the series to go in terms of direction outdise the main story which carries the game through - Only the commmunity made getting 100% such a big thing ! most other games u dont care for collecting everthing doing all side missions etc.

So back to Topic - There are not many Posts that critise new the physics engine, the community actually seems to love it so much - its pretty much left alone ... I also think it works really really well esp, on peds and vehicles - not so much on random objects such as trolleys, bins but they still are fun and believeable to some extent - "def NOT half life 2 gravity gun, or crysis" type of physics -

But on a new platform the "real time" rag doll - car damage is very very welcome -

what I wana know is how much is real time - and how much if any is pre coded animation as to the falls - etc .... even then its not really noticable !

and to make it clear to the FANBOIS - I REALLY LIKE EUPHORIA AND ITS USE IN GTA IV

I love Euphoria, especially when you shoot a guy off a ledge or blow someone up. It really has me hyped for that new Star Wars game comming out since it's using it.

If it were used on more objects, then I would enjoy it a whole lot more.

For example, at current I can smash completely through a Fence, but not a Tennis Net?

I mean come on.

If the Euphoria engine was used on everything, it would be better. IE, you could possibly smash trhough a wall with a patriot. It would be difficult and stupid, but fun.

My only complaint is that we can't hang onto moving cars. That would have been so much fun.

bit weird how you can smash through a telephone pole that is like 3" diameter but a tree that looks like a twig stops you dead in your tracks often resulting in ejection through windscreen

Actually you can - allbeit like the peds do when you jack their car.

Next time you jack someone, and they come to take the car back, hit Y (or triangle ) to jack it back. If done fast enough, Nico will hang from the door just like the peds do.

according to the euphoria site, the engine only works on people, such as niko, peds, etc. euphoria gives the person a different reaction every time so the reactions are never canned. for instance, if two peds were standing next to each other and you were to shoot them both in the chest, they each react differently. the reactions are not canned. whereas with ragdoll physics, they would both react the same exact way because ragdoll physics are canned animations,

as far as objects go (such as vehicles, trees, lampposts, bins etc.) i think their physics are based on the rage system and not euphoria. the new star wars game uses an engine a lot like euphoria, but for unanimous objects called the dmm engine. whereas the euphoria engine serves to make people more lifelike, the dmm engine makes objects more lifelike.

Nah, I always end up stealing the car, or falling down. What i am talking about, is hanging on the side of a truck.

Euphoria is a pleasant welcome to the series.

I can't wait to see how the next GTA improves on it, even though it's pretty good at the moment.

This might seem stupid, but my favorite part of Euphoria is changes in the walking pattern to accompany the terrain (IE, going up a hill, he bends his legs, or walking ON THE STAIRS instead of floating.)

just thought I would add a bit on here before people ask. I wouldn't expect the DMM engine to appear in GTA or any other game any time soon. It appears Lucasarts has exclusive rights to the DMM engine for the foreseeable future.

Euphoria is truly awesome. And the Rage engine is superb. The graphics are amazing. Kicks the sh*t visually out of most games.

Giant street poles should not fall down when you walk into them. Have a car bend damage system on them and I'd sh*t bricks of happiness.

(yes, that was a brilliant description of emotion and you know it xD)

The euphoria engine makes running over peds a whole entire side mission in itself. I enjoy jumping in a patriot and going on a safari of destruction down the side walk. The best part of this is when you hit someone just right and they get pinned against the front of your car and then you ram them at full speed into an oncoming car. As for the enviroment i would love to see dmm implemented because it reall pisses me when i ram through a fence and a giant steel street light only to be stopped dead in my tracks by a newly planted sapling that should be able to be easily run down by a sanchez.

I'm think you mean Endorphin. Euphoria is just lines of code, so unless you're a coder, I don't think you would understand it at all.

Yeah I love Euphoria, although it unfortunately interferes with car surfing. Being able to make Niko hang onto moving objects at will (and make him stay on there until his health runs out) would of made it even more kick ass.

Euphoria is great.

I find myself amazed with the different ways peds get ran over everytime.

It's just so much fun.

the new star wars game is using euphoria for character animations, havok for character physic and digital molecular matter for destructable envrionments.

i like the cops that feign death only to be met with a shotgun blast in the family jewels.

it may seem sadistic shooting what appear to be dead people but not all of them are dead, its great.

i love it, but i don't like how as soon as people are knocked off balance they look drunk. it is amazing technology though. it's kinda a let down when you're trying to car surf aswell; it's like niko doesn't try and stay on his feet, he just falls... and they should implement it into running into things aswell- like walls and small fences.
