What, exactly, is so good about the extras in SA?

 

What is so good about all those ridiculous clothes? Be honest.

 

What is so good about going to the gym?

 

What is so good about any of the other features that got removed?

 

I'm not trying to start a flame war, I just want to hear why people believe that the removed features were so effing great. I personally found the gym, car customisation and most of the side missions to be pointless distractions that distracted the player from the fact that the character was an annoying little bitch and that the missions were very boring and too cartoony.

I could chop people up with a columbine. I could take mountain rides on a bike. I could fly a fighter jet and rock people. I could parachute after I rock people. I had 1000s more cheats. I Could chill in the city then chill in the country. The city had much more variety.

 

The thing isn't whats so good about them it's THEY GOT REMOVED. What do you do when you build on a series. Last time I checked it was not remove things. I guess they lived up to the name GTA IV because it was a step above III.

There are so many more clothes, so there is more of a sense of freedom, and you can pretty much make CJ look however you want him to look.

 

Going to the gym is fun, and fun how it is kind of realistic and how you have to train your muscles to look better and be stronger in fights.

 

I don't think all the other features were a distraction from CJ. I liked CJ, he was funny, and i'm sure a lot of other people liked CJ too.

I think all the other features just added more to the fun, and added more to the sense that you can do whatever you feel like doing, which made it that much of a greater game and made it so you were never, ever bored with it. In my opinion.

 

And so many people are saying "Maybe they shouldn't have put all the other features in SA if they were going to take them all out for IV". Well, what would that achieve? It would make IV look better but people would still want to do all those things, they just wouldn't be able to do them at all, not even in SA, which would make it that much of a worse game and the GTA series wouldn't be nearly as famous or successful as it is now, meaning they would have a lot less money and GTA:IV would be even worse.

the truth is it took me(and most of u all) like 6 months to get bored of gta 4, and even though it bored me I kept playing it for another 6 months.

Some people are so delusional that they won't accept the fact that this was a step back. They sit there and go OMG I HATED SA when 5 months ago they were licking their chops expecting IV to be a huge expansion on SA. Now they try to say they think SA was worse the VC?! It is like when people hate homos; they are usually hiding something.

No I haven't. Funnily enough. I'll be honest, I don't have much time for gaming these days so I reserve my time for games I know I'm going to enjoy. I like games that are about more than just combat.

 

I'm sure those games are great and that their controls are very, very solid, but I wasn't comparing GTAIV to them. I was only comparing it to SA and other GTA games.

 

So, can you agree with me on my actual point, that it's more solid than GTAIII, VC and SA? I'm not too worried if you can't, it's all opinion.

I'll agree with you on that the story makes things feel more solid and with meaning. It may not be as fun as SA...but yes, I do find myself pondering the story and the meaning of all of it more than I did with the other GTAs. That to me is pretty solid.

I agree to the thread creator. I went out and brought call of duty 4 today, I sold cod4 the day before GTA 4 came out because I thought I wouldn't need cod4 again and there would be new games out by the time I'm bored with gta 4. I was so wrong!

speak for yourself...I played San Andreas for a full 2 years before I got bored with it.

 

This thread is no different then all the others...you basically WANT to play san andreas so why the heck don't you go PLAY san andreas? Instead of saying how different GTA IV is...of course it's different! It's a whole different game!

Analogy or not it's still just one opinion. You see GTAIII era as a basic car GTA IV era as a striped car with a fresh coat of paint.

 

I see GTAIII era as an old car that was good in it's time and was slowly ugraded to keep with the times...but it's been upgraded as far as it can go! GTA IV era is a compleatly new car that is basic now but has alot of potential!

 

 

In other words making GTA IV like GTA III but with better graphics WOULD just be a new coat of paint. Sure it would be good right now but it doesn't add any potential to the series!

 

GTA IV could have had quantity or quality...it had quality and will slowly get more quantity just as the GTAIII era did! Don't judge it for what it appears to be...judge it for what it can [and will] be.

Completed the game twice. The second time round in 20 hours!... The games over now. I can mess around a bit now. Its not boring as such. Just lack of things to do. Playing pnline doesnt really faze me. I played online and its okay but its not ground breaking.

This is like more my point of view and i'll try no to screw someone around.

 

It's dissapointing, yeh, cause i see no future for this GTA for being on PC ( no as we saw VC or SA 1.0, cause eventualy R* didn't allow Modding or Modifying in latest versions), so that means limited or simply not modding, not great deal at all if we take in count the multiplayer mode, but it's a game that can survive only of it's multiplayer mode? no GTA that i know did that, can be a new era as GTA or GTAIII, but they where exiting from the begining, on it's respective times, pretty much crap of games like Driver were released following (or at least trying) the formula of GTA, and i played driver too at the pair of GTA, even "Scarface" where better, but that isn't the point, the point is that this GTAIV is not as exiting as III, it is not so involvent as GTA, at the times of PSX, when all the games tried their best in a 3D enviorement, R* (well, TakeTwo...) did a master piece with 2D graphics, at the times of GTAIII, games like Quake or some nice of Race (sega had it's own too) worked based in the best of 3D graphics, R* did a master piece taking in count more than graphics, they really knew how to take us into LC, but IV... IV has nice graphics... but what about the fun factor?... is not like just making bad things or beating peds, it's nice to get a ride around the city or shot at your friends on the head, but for how long?

 

now, i read a comment "why you just don't go back and play your old GTA's?" HELL!! cause i'm a GTA fan and i can't leave pass a new GTA, i can't avoid felt dissapointed that after a great progress in GTA SA, this game comes back to the Basic sh*t!!, then what where all the R* team doing?? many around, me included are modders from heart, we made modifications for free, R* earn bucks for make that, how it's possible they didn't learn of us a bit (specialy recognized modders, this time, me not included)?! and heard this, i may not be a experience coder, i have like 3 months playing with SAMI, but a code, a simple mission doesn't go far than 500kbs (and that's pretty average), in a disk that uses Gigas, GIGAS!!! they are not PS One disks, so then, why not they added something else? why not add the latest funtions and funs that made many of us still turn back the sight and want to play again that game? Graphics are nice, but have you seen SA GFX mod? they do not ask anything to IV!! and ye, for the fun factor and the old faces i'll keep back to SA, where the true future of the GTA still, i feel no lose if i forgot GTA IV, the true feeling of loose is in the fact that if in the future will be more GTA's, there are a great provability that they will be just as IV, i mean, another game to make money for a big of the games, that sold they reputation just for make more money....
