Look guys, I know many have tried and asked to stop these damn threads complaining about how IV might've been a step back, and how its missing so many features SA had.

I just thought i'd explain a few things.

My MAIN POINT is;

GTA IV is the start of a new GTA series, one on next-gen consoles. GTA III was also the start. It had hardly any features, but managed, with its sequels/expansions, to build up to many more. The same will go with IV and its (hopefully) sequels and expansions. Its just GTA tradition.

In my opinion they should have brought the same style GTA into the next gen console era, instead of creating a new one

But for smaller ponts;

BMX's: Do you want to see your awesome, tough serbian mobster riding around on a bike when he could be taking a fine, posh car? No. It suited SA because you start out as a ghetto youth, and it suits the environment. But for IV its irrelevant.

I'm not too fussed on BMX's, though its annoying when you see certain things in GTA4 that are plain pointless, such as all the funfair stuff, the golf course, and the skatepark - yea you can use a motorbike but on the point of realism, you wouldn't see a tough serbian mobster riding round a skatepark on a motorbike.

Car Modding: It would've been nice and all, but seeing as that GTA IV took a turn for more realism, it would

1) be hardly realistic at all to just take any car you wanted into a shop, press a button and BAM! Spoiler/Nos/Sideskirts/whatever on your car. Kay, you might say something like 'well maybe they could've made it so that you wait until your car is done', but

2) it wouldnt fit IV anyway. SA had car races and more of an underground racing scene; whereas LC doesnt.

1) They could have made it so you can see what it looks like first then if you buy it time passes by so many hours (like the pay and spray).

2) IV does have street races and with Brucie as a main character it would have suited in quite well.

Jetpacks: yeah they'd be fun, but like i said; IV took a turn for more realism

Not too fussed on Jetpacks but they do exist and it would be nice to explore in detail the lovely city they created

Parachutes: Now i'm not sure why this was taken out. Would've actually been relevant and useful in the game, but perhaps not all helicopters contain parachutes in them, and R* was being realistic and this is why it was taken out. But hey, you dont see me complaining.

I don't care for parachutes, planes however...

As for the other elements; haircuts, muscle building, gyms etc., with SA, R* took a beautiful game and turned it into a character building game. I'm guessing they came to their senses and realised that that's not how GTA should be, thats why these features were taken out.

Half of this stuff was annoying but alot was good, it wouldn't be so bad to put in optinal stuff like haircuts or more clothing etc. Also I enjoyed alot of other elements such as the driving schools, it set a nice challenge and sense of achievement to it which just adds to playability.

If you dont agree with me as to why those features were taken out then read my main point ^^.

And if you're going to whine at me and flame me, then make sure you've at least taken the time to read what i've said.

edit: sh*t, spelling error in my topic title. DAMN. lol.

My thoughts...

Haven't we learned anything from GTA, and America? We have freedom of speech, and with that comes the right to complain and state our opinions. Which in turn causes people to complain about EVERYTHING and ANYTHING even when there is no reason to! If you gave 3 people a million dollars, I bet at least one of em would complain that the other guy got his first. Thats why I say if there ever was a 2nd American revolution it wouldn't work,  there is no way you can get anyone to agree on anything. The American dream is to complain about everything, and get real fat off fast food. While the rest of the world sits back and waits for our mighty American Superpower empire to crumble. In good time onlookers.....

Just my opinion which I'm entitled to.  Does it have ant relevance to the topic... well whatever you want you think.

I like the OP's post. He's not saying "GTFO GTA IV HATERS", he's presenting them with his side of the argument.

hell, let people complain all they want.

@ peter_g, if you edit that quote people will think thats what i said.

maybe next time post your thoughts underneath my quote please. just might give people the wrong impression.

The minute they reintroduce things like going to the gym, gettiing hair cuts, tattoos etc, jet packs, and all the rest of the useless and pointless crap out of San Andreas I will boycott any future GTA or Rockstar game. Seriously I wanted GTA, not Boyz N The Hood meets Bratz. And with IV I got GTA, not some gangbanging OG Barbie dress up game, some plastic gangtsa Fiddy Cent wannabe with a jetpack. IV goes back to it's roots, and yes this is just the 1st step for GTA on the next gen ladder and there is only so much crap and coding that they can fit onto 1 disc.

Lets see what dowloadable content is released over the next year, maybe people will get more clothes to dress up their Little Niko, or skateboards or jetpacks etc etc. Remember the game has only been out 3 weeks and I'm sure Rockstar will be paying attention to the San Andreas fanboy feedback they are getting.

makes sense. hopefully this logic will stop the complaining.

Thats what i'm hoping for too.

sadly though, i doubt it will work.

but i thought i'd throw my too cents out there anyways.

I agree with the main point. Im sure R* will add elements to the game as new ones get released. But I think they will always from now on maintain a level of realism.

Nice, OP. Naturally, you can expect your attackers to start coming out of the woodworks. I do miss parachutes...they would've made for some memorable escape sequences (at least they do in my mind)...
