Sizely Posted May 18, 2008 Share Posted May 18, 2008 I've been playing GTA since they all came out and i really love GTA4, especcially with the online features. Now when I try to play, it syas theres an update I have to do in order to play. This update is called Version Update 1.01 or somehting like that, when i click OK, it goes to about 2 or 3 %, never past 13% and at the bottom it says "you cannot perform background update" or something along those lines. Does anybody know wtf that means? why in the f*ck can't i download it....my internet shouldnt be a main problem, i havent had any problems with it up until this update. This problem not only restricts me from being able to play GTA online, but I cant even play the real game to do missions and just play...it wont let me without doing this update. So anybody with a ps3 that knows wats wrong or has had this problem, please help me out... Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Crymzen Posted May 18, 2008 Share Posted May 18, 2008 i get this problem on the 360...i dont think there anyway of solving it realy.just hope to god that it ends up working.lol when i got mass effect i put the disc in it said it needs to update or i cant play...would get stuck on 30% every time i put it in for a week..so i just played somthing else and decided to put it in again one day and it worked. Sizely Posted May 18, 2008 Author Share Posted May 18, 2008 See, I dont get this, I mean ok my online before this problem wasnt the fastest or anything, i lagged just as much as everyone and got disconnected as much....but still I never had a major problem up until this update... So I think its got to be the update, i mean that sounds logical right? How the hell would i "not be able to download the update" that just doesnt make sense to me..so anybody else got any ideas? bbllplaya1111 Posted May 19, 2008 Share Posted May 19, 2008 I have a very similar error, only it happens to me when I try to download a patch for any game, period. The download never passes 1% before it gives me an error message reading "error (followed by a code) you have been logged out of the play station network" Then the download fails. I restarted the game twenty six times and I still had the same problem. I'm still able to play single player though, as this error disconnects me from the internet. Unfortunately, that's not an option. None of the patches are up on any websites. The only way to install the patch is to launch the game and wait for the prompt. I had this problem too getting the ps3 firmware update, so i just plugged the ethernet cable into me ps3 rather than using the wireless connection. Ema_James2315 Posted May 23, 2008 Share Posted May 23, 2008 Yo i had this same probblem.What I did was go o NETWORK SETTINGS and DISABLE my internet conection and then ENABLE it again.Then I signed in to PSNetwork and was able to do the update.And if you are not conected to a Network you can play single player without doing the update.
