The Killa
The story was mediocre. GTA SHOULD NOT be about a story anyway. Holy sh*t, this was the most idiotic thing I've read this entire week You didn't like the story? Because you didn't pay ANY attention to it at all, didn't you? The voice acting and script are A+ quality. No wonder you love SA so much. Because it had no story for you to follow, except for some black dude who rises to the top and has 3 mansions. What a great story. And the characters were all sh*t (exception: Mike Toreno. Inb4 someone calls me racist) and it just gave you a long list of worthless boring sh*t to do. Anyone who says IV was a step backwards isn't very sharp either. Better graphics, better characters, a beautiful city and a GREAT story compromised for bicycles, working out at the gym and getting fat? OH MY GOD WHAT A f*ckING STEP BACKWARDS. nnnngggGGGHHH rockstur u guys sure dissapopointed me!! Oh well. I'll enjoy this great game. You can go back to getting fat or exercising whatever. Typical fanboy bullsh*t, reads one sentence, sees read and spouts a bunch of mindless drivel about how much better this trite story is to another trite story. Brucie is such a groundbreaking character. Super original, A+ stuff there. And Bernie/Florian is fantastic! Your leaving a LAUNDRY list of things out that were in SA and not in IV too. Better graphics? I should hope so. I mean this isn't the PS2/Xbox is it? A beautiful city? Sure, beautiful and detached. I'll just let you get back to re-reading the story. Hell, maybe in GTA V you won't even need a controller!
meth.
Packie was the only likable character in the game. He would have been a more suitable protagonist. That is the real step backwards in the series...a main character that is hard to connect with or root for, and a supporting cast of whining pathetic losers! I don't know what you found more appealing in SA that makes it better than GTAIV. Tanks, diving, skill progression (it was an okay idea at first but I grew to dislike it) were out of the ordinary and took away from the "feel" of the city. Territory could have been improved massively, but in GTAIV you don't really assign yourself to a permanent gang, so theres no point in turf wars. I DO agree however that there could have been more stuff to buy in the game. It seems you have more money than you can spend (this is the popular trend for every GTA). Also: skateboarding? I don't remember that. There is a skatepark if thats what you're referring too.

I understand WHY some of it was removed (no idea why car customization is unrealistic), but I still think this means taking a step back in the series. There is only so much realism that I want in a video game. I don't want to have to justify to my self why I can't do something cool or fun in a video game because it's not realistic enough. It's a poor cop out at best and really bad design choice at worst.

Algonquin Assassin
It is a step backwards. There is no real sense of any kind of accomplishment when you unlock a new island and the city really isn't all that big. Each area is distinct, but it's on a very subtle level... the areas are very similar. Isn't all that big? Buddy almost all of Los Santos would probably fit in Dukes/Broker alone. Yeah it's not as big as San Andreas, but we are comparing 1 city, to a entire state. Compare any of the single cities in San Andreas to the new LC, and they get dwarfed. That in a game based around ranged weaponry having 6-7 different melee weapons that look different but have about the same speed and power is POINTLESS. Knife and Bat do the job fine. EDIT: No genius, it doesn't apply to cars. Cars have differing top speeds, handling, braking, acceleration, etc. They are quite different to something that has a universal constant. EDIT2: If you played the original and to a lesser extent, the sequel, you would know Grand Theft Auto is primarily about vehicles. Hence the title. LemKo
I haven't yet got the game (waiting for PC version), but surely going from a whole state (including motorways and countryside towns) to only one city is a bit of a step backwards? After having all that area to explore (and cause trouble in), surely going back to a single city, even if it is huge, is a bit of a letdown? When I heard that it wasn't going to be set in London, but in the USA (again), I was disappointed, but I was expecting it to provide us with a nice big slice of country to cause mayhem in, not just one city. Oh yes London instead of NY that's so good, what a terrible city of crime.
