Why are all the roads straight?

Just wondering what all the roads are straight is it like this in new york or something?

 

Where are the roundabouts, ringroads, curvy roads, cul de sacs etc.

Yes, many roads here in New York are straight. They follow a grid-pattern, especially in Manhattan.

It's like a grid. You should visit New York. It's pretty awesome.

There are rounded roads all throughout the game, though. You just have to look.

Thers's rounded roads and there's a round-a-bout in Bohan. But as they mentioned NYC (Liberty City) is built in a gridlock pattern, as is Los Angeles, Chicago, and other major cities in the US and around the world.

What are you talking about? There are curved roads everywhere in this game, just play and you'll see. There's a big roundabout in Broker not a minute's drive from Roman's apartment.

im from the uk but new york & america's road system an layout differs loads.

you can rent/buy used Spiderman 3 for a fairly decent replication of new york's street layout.

 

there's also a true crime new york - GTA style sandbox game that's suppose to be really acurate, but it's not a 360 game.

I would be sarcastic and say because the romans built them. But to be honest from what i've seen of pictures from america in general i stuggle to think of any roundabout. It's just been easyer for them to design the roads in america due to it not being allready built and needing to be protected and everything like in the UK if you catch my drift.

i think we build our cities different here because we really started expanding after the industrial revolution, and we could easily add much larger sections of cities with the mass production of steel and the invention of the car soon afterwards. they were cheaper to build in grids, and are more convenient.

 

nothing wrong with european cities though, which I love. but that's how they build our american cities.

In the U.S. there was basically nothing but fresh new land to build on, Unlike London where roads are built upon centuries and centuries of other structures beneath it. So the U.S. did like London originally did about a thousand years ago and went with a Roman Empire inspired grid layout. Correct if i'm wrong though.
