Did you like GTA IV's plot? Do you think it is really epic, very realistic, dramatic, filled with events? How can you compare it to previous GTA games stories? Is it better or not? Which game's plot did you like the most? I really want to know your opinion.

I dont think it had as many surprisin turns as you could kinda see were it was goin but there was a few surprise there and still very enjoyable to play through.

But my fav GTA plot is VC.

Well, isn't it nice that IV's plot's base is completely new, not a movie rip-off? I mean. Vice City was based on Scarface, San Andreas — on some early nineties movies, but the latest GTA is absolutely stand-alone, though some details are borrowed from movies. And doesn't latest GTA plot really make you think? Doesn't it have moral? Isn't there more psychical pain than physical?

the main character still didn't have a consistent thread through him. just some vague concept of honor and loyality while continually doing work for opposing factions while expecting no reprecussions for it.

the hillarity in the original GTAIII, was that you were a silent nihilist who attacked opposing factions who would then hire you to fix problems that you initially caused anyways.

Vice City suffered from too much hollywood nostalgia and the double cross was too obvious with little investment into the character of your buddy who double crossed you.

San Andreas got weird with the whole CIA plot line which felt like a different game from the turf wars Los Santos. though the gameplay experience of being exiled from Los Santos and starting from scratch, was epic... a good storyline it did not make.

So, GTAIV has a better storyline than the rest, but rampant with character flaws and inconsistencies. I mean (SPOILER WARNING) Packie should be after you for revenge by the end of the game but instead he's holding a pitty party with his mom.

About Packie: I think that what is going on in the last mission is going on some hours after wedding, and Packie wasn't invited.

inconsistances will always appear in a game with such a tight story which allows you to make these moral decisions.

about packie why would he be after you? packie isn't a big gangster he's only young (younger than kate, who i'm guessing is mid-twenties).

apparently you can check her profile on the police website, she got sentenced to like 250 years for 25 counts of cocaine distribution or something like that.

The final storyline mission, I spent a half hour or so driving around wondering which decision to make. I thought it was genius.

Can someone tell me why Packie would want revenge on Niko? I might have forgotten something, but I can only remember 2 things you do which would anger him.

1. You kill one of his brothers. Both wanted you to kill the other. I don't think Packie even knew you did it anyway. He actually thinks more of Niko because he came to the funeral and was there for the McRearys during their loss.

2. If you chose the revenge option then Kate dies indirectly due to her asscotiation with Niko. Niko couldn't have stopped it. While I can understand a brother irrationally blaming Niko for it, it's just as likely this tragedy would bond them further.

As for the topic, I did like the plot. It made sense. It revealed itself overtime. There were messages and we had some active role in certain decisions. I was honestly moved by some moments and it even made me put the controller down, just to consider my final choice. I got to know Niko and feel like I was guiding him.

I've heard that some people really hate the "friendship" element of the game, but I think it really added to the whole experience. Not only do you get lots more dialogue that reveals parts of Niko's past or information about others, but I do feel it connected me with the other characters in ways the other games haven't done. Sometimes I felt bad about declining an offer to hang out and I can remember once thinking "I haven't heard from Roman for a while. I wonder what he's up to." Having this bond to the characters (both like & dislike) causes certain plot developments to impact much more.

There's very little plot in GTAIII and Vice City, which is not necessarily a bad thing in games. Some great games have succeeded with nothing more than 'girlfriend is kidnapped. Must travel through varied levels, fight big bad kdnapper and rescue girl'. San Andreas almost had too much plot (or too many loosely tied together plots). I think GTAIV got a good balance. In terms of plot I'd say it's the best of the bunch.
