[PSN] TURF WARS

I'm done with turf wars for a while, I can't seem to get used to it. I spend the entire time walking around aimlessly, getting into maybe 10 shoot-outs per game, of which I win half. And if I sit there and camp like 3/4ths of the players in TWs do I'm bored off my ass.

 

Kudos to all you people who actually run around and do stuff though.

Highlight of night: Riko chasing me with a knife.

 

Me, caught by surprise, just run away from him, even though I was armed with a RPG. Riko gets a couple of slashes in, I recover with a medi pack and this goes on for a minute or two. Then noname arrives by car. He parks, gets out, and starts to run in my direction. At this point I think: "I can blow him up with the RPG. Better do it quick. He's getting close. Really close. Oh man... what the hell, here goes" *Caboom*

 

At that point some of you might have seen the text on the corner accounting for 3 deaths.

 

 

Other events include me and Twind annoying each other, in the fight for the same turfs.

I know, it's just that I find it boring to camp, because it takes forever for anyone to come. I don't mind that others camp - you're supposed to anyway in a TW, that's the whole idea - it's just that I can't imagine how boring it must be to sit there and wait. My problem is that because of camping not many people are on foot and taking turfs and shooting people, which is what I like most about the game. The intense shootouts, taking cover and letting loose a few shots at a time and all that.

 

TDM is my favorite mode - you have people to cover your back, and everyone is out running around killing something. In Turf War, it takes too long before something happens. That's the part that bothers me. I spent a lot of time lately just running around without crouching to try to attract fire so I could shoot back.

 

Soooo... I'm gonna be spending time in TDMs from now on. The only problem is nobody with brains organizes those often, which means most of the time it's 1s near respawn and AA on, so I have to host my own, which takes ages and people try to kick me if I don't want to play with only 4 people in the game. But this is a thread about TW, so I'll stop complaining. I might start some TEAM DEATHMATCH - PSN thread to copy this one.

Seriously. That's how you win turf wars. Hiding, being strategic..Not running and gunning.

 

Suit yourself, though.

 

The point of TW is not to kill people, it's to hide to an extent that somebody trying to get a turf can't get you. It's the best when you hide close enough so that the message will appear that an enemy is nearby, hold turf and make money, and distract enemy attention into finding you.

 

Running around and shooting is just..not TW.

 

But whatever. Have fun killing people..over..and over.

 

YOU need to get CoD4. Now there's some intense shoot-outs.

Moment of the night for me was the last Bohan TW i found an excellent new hiding spot at the waterfront turf. So good infact I was able to start the game, find a random spot turn the tv on SpongeBob Squarepants, my daughters nite nite show, for 10+ minutes, come back and no ones found me. sat there for the rest of the 20 minutes. Ended with an 0-0-0.......NICE. I spent so much time today just sitting at a turf without getting any action, kinda boring but fun at the same time, always on the edge of my seat.

 

Sorry Doc for all the quick exit stuff I promise it will not happen again. I'm now putting the controller on the end table and letting the timer tick down before i pick it back up. Is it normal to set time to midnight for all matches?

 

Oh and Anti we've got unfinished buisness lol

 

This DTW Cup can't come fast enough for me.

I think I'm starting to catch on a little more now though & starting to get the hang of how to play it since I play more now. I've officially played 30 games total now.

camping is god's way of proving that he doesn't like you very much, the second i lose consentration or the phone rings or i go off to get more ammo or a snack the invasion begins after 10mins of no-one coming close!

 

also that's explicit in your avatar, about 3 seconds before i ram him into hilary's bush with my copter

 

edit: i really can't concentrate anyway, i'm supposed to be writing a personal statement for uni and so far i have no-lines and 7 words (ahh screw it i'll just be a post-man or something!)

My concentration often goes when I'm in hiding. I get too impatient.

Sometimes I'll go on the attack, take a few turfs, then when my team has the majority I'll defend.

Most times I'm sat waiting for ages, I see people attempting to take the other turfs, so I'll go have a bong hit or something, make a cup of tea or roll a joint. Suddenly I hear gunshots, rush back and I'm being shot at or worse, I'm dead.

 

I only try to hide and defend nowadays when I know my team has the majority of turfs, or I've been killed too many times for my liking.

 

5 more days til I'm back on the PS3. I'm gonna try and introduce my friend to TW's, the way its supposed to be done

@erados: I hope you stick around for some more TW's and find your way to have fun in them, erados. For me, the situation seems almost the opposite. The TW's are the only thing now that's really keeping me playing GTAIV. If it hadnt been for those TW's, I'd done what I always do: move on to the next game (currently knee deep in an "Oblivion" addiction)

Anyway I see your point, recently I got bored in some of the TWs when I was camping in defense.

Nobody came and the action was always somewhere else. But then right when I leave the turf someone comes A lot depends on the turf you choose to defend. Some turfs get more action than others. It's also true that nowadays everybody wants to defend a turf (and everybody wants the sniper rifle ). Sometimes 3 guys are willing to stay in the same turf, like yesterday me, M and toot... but to tell u the truth I was the first one to assume the defensive position ; in this case, like yesterday, I leave; me and M went to another turf, he stayed there but Twind was there too.... So I left again and went to Algonquin north turf to gain it... I had a nice battle there with the sniper in the house, Mr Tjbcosmic. He got me twice then I stole the turf from him and blew him up before the end when he was trying to get it back. My opinion is that yes, camping can be very boring at times but it becomes very exciting when u engage a 20 minutes duel with someone from this topic. These duels happens to me all the time. I.e. yesterday the one I had over the same turf with M in Algonquin North... After that I tried to slice up the german and failed M found a spot from where he owned me. I died like 3 in a row and I couldn't find the man even scoping all of the place with the sniper rifle. That's what I like and I find challenging. Then we continued our sniper duel in a TDM in Charge Island... Quite a duel!

BTW M, why u tried to kick Mike?

@ german: u are some lucky sneaking german... I was in the bush and u didn't find me when u passed there, then u started to point your weapon to the bushes and I had to react with the knife

But before that let me tell u that u stayed alive only because I sniped a random in front of u... That's why u went for a search in the bushes... I should have sniped u first

And now a question for everyone: how come that when I run over someone at full speed in my car this person NEVER DIES in 99% of the times? I swear, I killed someone like this maybe twice in 4 months. It doesn't matter which car I drive nor the speed I'm going. I never ever get a kill like that. And on the opposite I die everytime someone ran me over. What's the deep secret of steamrollering??? Fck in this TW I tried to steamroller 5 different people and nobody died... I was always at full speed. AntiChristo, enlighten me on this... Enough said in the above posts... Double deadly sniper and so on... I can say that I got that turf before and I lost it like an idiot when I left my first hiding spot (a great bush..). When I left Double came and killed me while I was on some steps... Then someone killed him right after that so I came back and went to another bush. Then the explicit bit happened and after that nobody could find Double... Anyway I didn't noticed that M sniped me while I was fighting with the german... Yeah, it's very hard to kill someone with a car head-on... I've never really done it myself either, but I've been killed plenty of times by a single well-placed car to the head.

 

People also seem to get up faster than me when they're hit. They fall and immediately they're up and shooting again, but when I'm getting hit it takes me ages to get up. Maybe that's just an adrenaline thing though.

This is so weird,i sometimes I hit people with a turismo at full speed and they won't die,on the other hand couple of days back someone killed me hitting me while i was on a bike!!! wtf,i had full health and i just died (and it wasn't even full speed)
