For me it works not soo good. I have directX and all that. AMD Athlon XP 2000+ @ 1650mhz

Epox 8KHA+ mobo

512mb PC2100 DDR RAM

eVGA GeForce4 Ti4200 128mb (OC'd to 285mhz core & 500mhz mem)

30.82 Detonator, couldn't fix refresh rate in 40.41

120gig WD Special Edition-8mb buffer 7200rpm HD

Aureal Vortex 2 (old I know, getting a Phillips Acoustic Edge)

Windows XP Pro

Had to turn on Frame Limiter and Frame Sync, game ran choppy at [email protected] runs perfect limited to 30fps. I used GTA3 Advanced Options 1.1 to set the view distance to 125 still runs smooth. :/

P3 1.0 GHz

Xfx GeForce 4 Ti4400 128MB (default clocks 275|550)

512MB PC-133 SDRAM

Asus CUSL2-C BP - i815EP

Quantum Fireball Plus AS 20.5

7465 3DMarks

Windows xp Pro / Me (dual-boot)

Smooth as ever on mine at 1024x768 with quincunx antialiasing. I would use a much higher res if only my monitor supported it :( Sometimes its choppy for a few seconds when reading sound from the CD-ROM probably because of my CPU.

Hi

I havent had the game for very long and I didnt really worry about the lag untill I got onto Stauntons Island now the game is virtually unplayable just as I started getting somewhere. I downloaded a fps tool to see what I was running like and on the options screen its around 190 - 220 but ingame Im lucky to get 10 -12 fps  :(

My specs are (please excuse any that arent quite spelt right or seem a little odd as im not to good at the technical jargon to do with PC's)

Duron 1.8 processor

Geforce 2 mx 200 Graphics card

612 DDR memory   (I think DDR is right)

30gig Hard Drive

Sound Blaster 116 (Summing like that, Ive been told

                        its crap anyway)

DirectX 8.1

I have my settings set at:-

600 x 800 res

256 colour

Everything in-game that I can turn off or have down low I have done and my frame rate is 6 - 14

Think thats all i got to submit.

If anyone can help me out with any FPS boosting tips or something  that would be great.

Its great to see so many people posting in the forums and helping eachother out especially illspirit, Been searching through alot of these forums to find something to help me out and your name has come up loads, Nice One

GeForce 3 Titanium 200

It runs fine...Although its a bit choppy due to only 126 ram but this is disturbing only on 2nd isle otherwise its fine

btw it runs the same on 640 as on 1024 -its that damn RAM only the problem

I've got a pentium3, 866mhz

Geforce4 mx420 64megs

the rest of the factors don't really matter, except for ram:

I started off with 256megs, and the game would chop every so often while driving for example.

Then I upgraded to 384, and suddenly it got a lot smoother everywhere.

I'll be upgrading 512 very shortly, and that should have the game running perfectly. I believe the main lag issues that occur with this game have to do with reading the audio from the cd's.

AMD Athlon XP 1700

Panasonic 16x48 DVD ROM

Creative Soundworks Digital 3piece

Altec Acs41 2 piece

Sound Blaster Audigy

The catalyst 2.2 drivers had occations where the framerate would dip every now and again.  Now with 2.3 its all smooth.  The only things is that I have to use miles fast 2d audio even though I have an audigy because eax hd3 causes feedback between my speakers (which were bought separatly).  The amplifier turns into an oscillator and makes loud ringing just like you get with a microphone on the stage.  I don't know if I can control the amplifier, obviously I set it to a volume I want.

733mhz

PIII

526 Ram

20 GB HD

Nvidia Geforce 256

Sony Trinitron Monitor

Cable Broadband Modem

Dell Dimension XPS T750r

It works okay with my GTA3, just a bit laggy sometimes, like in Staunton Island the most....

Here are my specs

2.2 ghz P4

332MB of RAM

Geeforce 4 44MX graphics card

60GB hard Drive

Windows XP

Augidy Player sound card

It runs well, no lag at all when background programs are turned off, but the graphics are a bit blocky, and i dont have a clue why, even when i turned the trails off.

AMD Duron 1200Mhz

Abit KT7A

512MB RAM

Ati Radeon 9000 pro 64 MB overclocked core 290/mem 300

SB Live! 5.1

Windows XP

I get the best results with 800x600x32, but it's still quite unplayable.

I used to have Geforce 2 MX in this same machine before (but it got busted) and the game ran a lot better, even though I had to use 640x480x16. There was no lag with GF2MX but there is with Radeon.

Seems like Rockstar doesn't like Ati?  :pp

my Spex:

XP1700 @ XP1900

KG7 RAID MB

512 MB DDR

2 x 40GB 7200RPM Deskstars on RAID 0

SB AUDIGY

ATI RADEON 8500

22in Lacie Electron blue Screen

Yamaha speaks + Sony cans

:die: Can run it at 1024 no probs - lower reses look skank

1280 can be jumpy - hopefully they will actually make the 3d engine properly for vice city - cuz mafia runs 1600x1200 all detail to max without probs, and it looks better than GTA3

I'm constantly playing on 640x480 and it runs well. But my video card is the bottleneck here. My cpu and ram easily accomidate this game but my vid card is just far too underpowered. Do yourself a favor. Don't get a hercules card. Unless ur getting the Game Theater XP, that thing roxors.
