is gta4 REALLY the worst gta?

Wouldnt say it was the worst. Just think San Andreas was more fun.

Also didnt Rockstar say that they didnt want to give away all the features in GTAIV so we could find them out for ourselves? I dont think I've found one yet that wasnt spoken about in reviews/previews. Some of the features in reviews/previews aren't even in the game confused.gif

I know. And I thought we would be able to do a lot of climbing, even climbing tel poles?

I can't get him to climb anything. Has anyone been able to park under a fire escape and then jump up and grab the ladder and climb up random buildings?

its missing SA features

every GTA has expanded & added to what came before it

now with IV , some features have been left out

But those features were completely useless, and to have them in GTAIV would make a mockery of the Niko character which R* attempted to preserve for the credibility of the storyline.

I can't finger a worst one. I just know that IV is up there with III as the best.

It's not bad because of less features, it feels good because you don't have bunch of useless crap thrown in your face and well the overall gameplay is more entertaining thus making it longer, I hate to sound like I'm defending this game to death but in all seriousness SA was my least favorite GTA.

lol at the "completely useless' comments

such is the way with fanboys

i bet every single one of you was praising SA for building on what VC had added to III

GTA is a cartoon crime game . your trying to say its realistic with the phoney physics it has ?

give me a break

I have to say that pretty much the only thing that i am greatly disappointed in is the lack of traffic/peds present in Liberty City. I mean c'mon when you're driving down whats meant to be Times Square and there is literally no one to be seen and it's 8pm on a Saturday you cant say you weren't a little disappointed.

I mean check this out

Some of you might say it was because it would be too annoying having to maneuver through intense traffic. Well id rather have that frustration then the extreme loss of immersion that underpopulated streets gives.

Rockstar could probably achieve this by making the peds less detailed perhaps? I wouldn't mind that at all as quantity is alot more important than witty one liners imo.

My only other frustration would be that they haven't eliminated that annoying glitch when the car you are currently in seems to spawn like crazy... no matter the logic behind it. I was just playing before and driving down the streets of Bohan in my freshly stolen Turismo and they were everywhere! There was literally ten all lined up parked on the street. Isnt Bohan meant to be based on the Bronx??! I dont think youd be finding many Ferrari owners in the Bronx. Also this glitch really makes you feel sh*tty cause of all the effort you go to acquiring sweet cars only to have them become common as hell.

BUT that is pretty much it for my disappointments with IV. I recently finished the story which is definitely the best i have experienced in any GTA title... perhaps even video games fullstop. Most fun i've had in a game in years.

This is really the only thing that disappoints me.

Ped placement is quite scarce is some areas. Happiness Island has more peds, then most parts of the city?

That's all I can really say.

Other then that I inlove.gif GTA IV.

My List Worst to Best.

10.GTA London

9.GTA 2

8.LCS

7.VCS

6.GTA Advance

5.III

4.GTA

3.SA

2.VC

And the best GTA I've ever played!

1.GTA IV

I hated London and GTA 2. They both felt weird and wrong. LCS put me to sleep. VCS was a little more interesting. GTA Advance was better then the stories. III beat all of them combined but the original GTA beat it. San Andreas was to big and had some of the most annoying characters. I hate that gang crap that their putting in kids brains now days. Vice City was brilliant as it had the best soundtrack and a kick ass character to lead the story. GTA IV beats them all as not only is it a step toward reality but it also has given me more reasons to think about the city. Hell sometimes I feel like just watching TV in game. Can never get enough of that TV show based on Halo.

Now I'm off to go play more of that game so many of you hate.

As I post this I am watching the credits roll up on my TV. Just finished the game...absolutely amazing ending. I couldn't be happier with this game. Of course there are things that could have been done better but I personally think the list goes like this:

1. IV

2. Vice City

3. San Andreas

4. III

5. Vice City Stories

6. Liberty City Stories

I understand people being upset about certain things with IV b/c I feel the same way about some of those things too. For one, I wish we could do a bit more customization with clothes and cars. I don't care I'm not able to make Niko fat or muscular, b/c I like him the way he is. However both of these things could become available through downloadable content.

Either way, I think that with IV as a foundation for whatever R* comes up with next, we'll see a lot of the customization features returning...and now I'm just going to keep my fingers crossed that they announce another GTA: Vice City set in the 1980s.

The features were taken out becuase the game was getting stupid and childish, if they added anymore from what SA contained then it would just be stupid. GTA4 brings the series to a much more mature stand point i reckon. Yes, the humour is still there, but in many cases i think it's a lot more subtle, and really concentrates on a deep, gritty storyline that makes 4 so f*cking aweosme.

People who hate it becuase they expected San Andreas part 2 have only ever disappointed themselves as Rockstar didnt mention SA's features once to any previewer.

I feel VCS was the most lacking of the series becuase the formula was jsut getting stale and needed 4 to point it in a fresher direction.

EDIT: Rushed? Three and a half years and a 6 month delay is NOT rushed. You clearly have no idea how long it takes to develop a good game from scratch.

right on kippers

GTA IV is easily the best imo, i couldnt care less about the stuff that people whine about on this forum is pretty childish. I play the game for what it is and tbh im glad they removed alot of the pointless things they added in SA as GTA was never about getting fat or thin, going to the gym ect ect if you want to do that stuff your playing the wrong game.

GTA IV has imporved what it needed to and now we have what i think is a perfect example of what a GTA game is and should always be.

My favorites come in a tie between San Andreas and IV. I haven't finished IV yet, but I'm guessing it'll be my favorite since Niko is so badass and other obvious factors. San Andreas really was a great game, though the missions did get a little weird after awhile..Green Goo? I think R* ran out of ideas and got too attached to The Truth.

Oh yeah, after those two in first, I'd have to say III is next, and then VCS (haven't completed, but I do like it).

He makes a fair point here and in my opinion the latest game reflects the originality of the first game but with a more modern releastistic influence. Thus making it my favourate so far:1/gta IV, 2/SA, 3/gtaIII, 4/VC.Out of all IV has the most engrosing plot with characters and niko is bad ass despite peoples disliking to him maybe thats just american anamsoity towards easterm europeans. colgate.gif

Spot on mate!!

Capricornus

IMO, LCS was the worst one for me. I got bored with it before I made it to the second island, and it was the first GTA game that I ever owned and felt that I wasted my money on. And Toni was a pretty boring character, IMHO. I still beat the game, and quickly traded it in. I never played VCS, but I don't hear too much about it. Here's my favorite 3D GTA's in order.

1. GTA IV

2. GTA SA

3. GTA VC

4. GTA III

I love GTA IV, very superb game. I'll admit that being that this is the new generation in gaming, they could have added a bit more to GTA IV, but for me it is superb, no dissappointments with GTA IV here. Then at the same time I wasn't over expecting anything. From past experinces with being dissapointed with games, I don't get hyped up over games, no matter how big and popular they are.

.Up&Coming.

Here's my list. I haven't posted in this topic for awhile. wow.gif

1. GTA IV- It's the most realistic, obviously. The story-line so far for me is absolutely amazing. The voice-acting is the best so far, and the way you can look at a cut scene (take Roman's Sorrow) and actually feel bad really says something. Oh, and Niko...This one just explains itself. The best game character I've ever seen.

2. GTA: San Andreas: This, in fact, was the first GTA I've ever played. I remember back when my brother just got the game...I saw it and said, "Wow, that looks awesome." I played for myself. The reason this comes in second is because it didn't blow me away as much as IV did. When I played IV I thought, "Wow. I'm actually playing this game." SA had some interesting plot twists...and some stupid ones. WTF is this green goo, and a jet-pack? Was R* running out of ideas? The story was good. A lot of people didn't like it, but I loved it. I also loved the wide areas, especially the desert. But, SA didn't give me the feeling like IV did. I felt like I WAS Niko in IV, while in SA, I felt like I was just controlling CJ.

3. GTA III: This game was just f*cking great. A silent protagonist seemed stupid at first. But, wow. I related to him almost as much as Niko. He was completely insane. He wanted revenge, and the atmosphere of the game just seemed so..deathly. The voice-acting sucked, and the short delay of the game caused many questions like the disappearance of Donald Love...etc. The plot was great, and I loved the end mission.

4. GTA: Vice City Stories: Yeah, I know. A STORIES game? Well, I liked it. I felt like this game had more atmosphere than Vice City. The character seemed sane. I felt for him in some parts. A lot of people disagree with me on this, but I liked Vic Vance. There were too many glitches, though. And the combat system just sucked.

5. GTA: Vice City: This is the favorite of a lot of people. I had no connection with this game whatsoever. It had a great soundtrack. Some missions were all right, I guess. But, in true thought, I hated this game. I couldn't relate to Tommy Vercetti in any way. Well, yeah I don't kill people ruthlessly, but I mean I felt like he was just another character. He didn't seem like the best character to play as. He had no emotions when he spoke (Sorry, but I think Ray Liotta sucked at this one). R* even said they were done hiring such famous voice people to do the voices of these games, because apparently Ray got all mad when he found out how big the game was, and he wanted more money out of it. Samuel L. Jackson did do a great job though in SA. A lot of people thought this game had a great feel to it, too. But, I found Vice City empty and boring. Just my opinion.

6. GTA: LCS: I only played a few missions of this after getting bored. I thought this game just truly sucked. I resorted to III after that. lol.gif

Sorry for my long rant, but I felt like explaining why I chose this order. I've never played the 2D GTA's by the way. But, I almost downloaded one. turn.gif

Well, here's mine biggrin.gif

1. GTA IV: Most real, and I really liked Niko. Many reasons why I like GTA4 The best. rolleyes.gif

2. GTA SA: I really liked SA, I really enjoyed the new features, such as car modding, etc, and I really liked it. And many other reasons. But I like GTA IV better.

3. GTA 3: GTA3 Was f*ck*ng amazing, and Imo it had the best storyline, and good characters, and I would just never get bored of it, and loads to do after completing GTA3 100%

4. GTA VC: Ok, but I didn't like the cartoony graphics, and the pink health. But I didn't really like the storyline for some reason. I really liked Tommy, but I guess it was because after I completed the game 100%, I found it to get a little bit boring. But the soundtrack was excellent on Vice City. But I just find it to be a little bit boring.
