And I've seen people with similar freezing on the newer 60GB and 40GB models too. I have a "newer" 40 gig ps3, and the problems are gone. Is it definitely not the autosave? the only time my ps3 locked up, was the only time I loaded a game from an auto save. it froze (the ps3 had to be switched off and back on again) around every 5 to 10 mins untill I re-saved at a hideout, I've had no problems since and autosave is now switched off. Yea I can play PS2 games, but I think the uk model relies on software emulation for playing PS2 games. hmmm I think the gta problem has everything to do with the emotion-chip, and its activation when you put the disc in. (unconfirmed, but lets just say its rumoured in the rockstar hallways) Thats why mostly the launch versions of the ps3 break down. The software emulation could cause problems, but I havent seen any evidence that it does. Remember, some 60 gig models run perfectly with gta IV. According to google, the uk 60gb PS3 uses a combination of hardware and software emulation, only the EmotionEngine chip is removed, and the Graphics Synthesizer chip is still there. Well you could give it a try, mine hasnt failed on me yet...but mines a different model and has no backwardcomp. at all. I haven't really played IV long enough since the patch came out, but before IV used to freeze randomly when logged into PSN , but it never froze when my PS3 was disconnected from the internet. You do realise you should be on version 2.3? If you don't have an internet connection, you can download it here and transfer it to your PS3 via a USB stick or similar. I'll start downloading it, and it will stay on 0% for about 4 minutes before getting an error message and kicking me off the PSN. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.
