thebritishbulldog
Enabling upnp completely crashes my router and cause a constant drop every thirty seconds. I disabled it just to be able to use my PS3 online at all. Now I have to enable it just to play a whole 15 seconds of gta4 multiplayer before I get dropped again? f*ck that. UPnP should make port forwarding or DMZ'z irrelevant; it is meant to open ports on the fly. I find the fact it doesn't work most likely the fault of the UPnP software on the PS3 being incompatible with standard UPnP rather than a problem with the router... however I would strongly suggest upgrading your firmware on the router to the newest version (if it isn't already) as most router manufacturers will be actively aiming to mae their UPnP work with the PS3's "version" of it. Other ways to solve the PS3 dropping the connection is to reduce your MTU setting to 1400 on the router. Most routers have 1492 or 1500 as the default but not all ISPs support it well (although they should) Edited May 16, 2008 by thebritishbulldog
