fiddolbrfrho
i noticed something amazing after playing for about 15 hours and getting in some REALLY bad wrecks. the damage is truly unique every time and generated realistically by the impact itself! have you ever gotten a wheel bent which made it difficult to turn? that isn't just a "WHEEL_BENT=0" to "WHEEL_BENT=1", that wheel has actually been bent by the physics engine, and the way your car handles after the wreck is generated by the new position the wheel happens to be in! we're all talking about Euphoria but to me this is just as amazing. here are some shots of a cab i hit with a firetruck. it was very hard to drive after this, but it was still drivable. you can see that the right front wheel is completely bent out of shape. the purple lines illustrate the different angles of the 2 front wheels. the cops got to me unfortunately and i couldn't smash it up anymore, so i got a 2nd taxi and firetruck. here's what i did step by step: 1. positioned the taxi against something pointy and unmovable (in this case the guard rail at a freeway on-ramp split: 2. get firetruck in position. 3. back up so you can get the firetruck up to speed before the smash. 4. BAM! i'm only able to take pictures with a camera so i cannot show you the impact, but here is the taxi afterwards. still driveable but not it doesn't perform so well anymore: 5. let's try it again, and get the other side this time: more in next post... fiddolbrfrho
6. LOL!!! 7. that CAN'T POSSIBLY be drivable, can it? OH sh*t IT IS! 8. i smashed it again from the front... not as satisfying but did mess up the front and rear of the car in a peculiar way: 9. it BARELY MOVES but it can still be driven... it will go about 5mph forwards or 10mph in reverse. it can't steer at ALL except a little bit to the right (but then it steers to the right when you try going straight). here it is next to an undamaged cab for comparison. again i've drawn lines to illustrate just how far the wheels have been bent inward: is this amazing or what? i have never seen realistic damage generated on-the-fly so well in a game! you could play for hours upon hours and never see damage like this, because it takes SO much force (just as it would in real life). dlx
yeah the damage is awesome...yesterday I spent some time crashing the faggio into stuff around Middle Park... hah that was awesome... the bloodspattering is also realistic, after a while the entire front of the scooter was red...haha

vettefan88
tonight I noticed something that actually impressed me. I was flipping around in a car, and I landed at an angle on the front of my car, and the wheel had smashed into the fender. and the wheel actually stopped moving because it was smashed into the fender. and the fender of the car was molded into the wheel rim. I've been impressed with the damage in the game.

However my cars never seem to last as long as yours did but thanks for taking your time to put these on to the topic interesting read if you can believe it, i actually had a sports car (i forget which one, infernus?) the other night in multiplayer smashed up even worse than this cab. both of the front wheels were smashed almost back into the windshield, and they were facing opposite directions from each other! this was the result of flying off a bridge at speed and slamming into a low wall on the way down. i also have a crappy cell phone pic from yesterday of a police cruiser which was bent completely out of proportion:

singemfrc
It is amazing. I damaged a car today where it just bent in the wheel well, and I could drive the car but the one wheel skidded the entire time.

GeneticallySuperior
It's pretty funny to be crossing a bridge and see someone's trunk completely compacted in or hitting a pole head on and seeing the actual circle in your hood. Anyways good demonstration, haven't seen a car quite that compressed

I noticed this vehicle damage too, and I was so amazed by it I had to do a google search and found this thread. I think the reason why he doesn't believe it is I'm pretty sure the game dynamically increases the diffuculity as you keep playing. I am positive that when you first start the game the vehicle damage is only cosmetic and the tires never get messed up, because I was in some pretty serious accidents and the car was messed up looking, but always still drove normally. Then all of sudden around the time that the unknown contact calls you on the pier the vehicles start taking real damage where the tires bend and everything. I wanted to do a search if what I thought is really what is happening.
moggle333
I wonder if you can take a helicopter atop Liberty city's highest building, spawn a sanchez using the cheats and drive off of there? lol what would happen? would the sanchez be a ball of clumped up metal? lol
Mihai
Quick question, can you damage the roof of your car? Say if you flip over and hit a pole with the roof, does the roof get bent or does it stay perfectly flat? I'm hoping it can bend, that would be really cool. Arron17
I think the damage system on this game puts most racing sims to shame. I managed to lodge my sultan RS under a flatbed and after the wheels wouldn't turn and the whole top caved in.
unoleian
The dynamic vehicle damage, along with the fact that you can actually cause automotive fatalities and kill other drivers in their cars really makes random crashes brutal to witness. The aftermath of a pile-up in this game is the closest emulation to a real-life traffic disaster that I've ever seen. I'm blown away more and more by the level of detail invested into everything we see and do...

Yarbo
btw cars get dirty too? Yeah they do get dirty, and there are ingame car washes. So when your car gets dirty, you just go up to them. It costs a few dollars if I remember, and after a few moments in the car wash, you car will emerge all clean and shiny...
