HELP! game freezing at load screen xbox 360

someone help me, i just bought a brand new gta 4 game. havent had any other issue with any other game. even though i am already signed in, when i load game it tells me i must be signed in to save games and it freezes on that screen. wont let me sign in or exit. i have to shut off console. please help

ok, sign in before you enter the disc (sign in then enter disc)

this happens to me sometimes, but not on gta iv

 

if this dosnt work the delete your cache by:

 

1.Turn on your Xbox 360.

 

2.Scroll across to the system tab and select the storage devices option.

 

3.Highlight the hard drive option (it should say "Hard Drive, 12 GB free", for example).

 

4.Enter the following button sequence: Y, X, X, LB, RB, X, X. The following message should appear: "Do you want to perform maintenance on your Xbox 360 storage devices?"

 

5.Select "Yes".

 

6.Restart your console. You have now cleared your hard drive cache and your Xbox 360 should run faster and have improved game-play on certain games (The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion, Halo 3, or other games).

 

deleting the cache only delets the updates to your console and other games, not your savefiles, or anything saves in your HDD
