Wilddtd
I don't think it should matter how much false hype there was surrounding this game. The internet is filled with more B.S. these days, and that's why anyone with a computer can make up false information and post it. Problem is - the hype was created by R* and the game journos, not by some dumb f*cker writing a blog from his bedroom. There are so many things left out of IV that was, at one point or another, "confirmed" features by various gaming websites through their previews of the game or interviews with major R* staff. That's what created the hype. Was it all just marketing ploys after all? Have R* "sold out" as some would say? f*ck yes. R* is, as any games developer out there, a business. They have to make money to survive and the best way to do so is to hype their product. Unfortunately I think they may have overhyped this one. I know I won't pre-order the next one in the series (if there ever is one) nor will I purchase the DLC for the 360 without knowing exactly what I'm getting (ie. waiting a week or so after release). Do I think it's a good game? Hell yes, but it's not a perfect game and under no circumstances deserve the 10/10 marks it got pretty much everywhere. Was SA better? Tough call, they're so completely different (yet very much alike). Obviously the graphics are heaps better in IV, but as we all know, graphics ain't everything. Controls... to be honest, I think they're more or less the same - sure, the cars handle differently in IV, but once you're used to it you can still go full throttle down the wrong side of the freeway without much problems. I dunno... personally I think it comes down to size, and SA is much bigger than IV (no matter what R* tries to tell us about building vertically - f*ck that, as long as I cannot enter [m]any of these vertical buildings I don't give a sh*t how tall they are). Also, in IV, friends/relationships are too big a deal if you ask me. For once I'd like to be able to walk slowly from the north of Middle Park to the south without my phone ringing five times asking me to go drinking, playing pool or whatnot. Shieet, if I wanted that sort of gameplay I'd play the Sims or go create something in Second Life. Finally, WTF is up with the in-game internet? Sure, it's fun (to begin with) but I would have preferred R* spending the money this cost (in terms of manhours) on polishing what they already had and not releasing what feels like a premature game. Again, you are merely talking about hearsay. Someone heard from someone else, who heard from rockstar about certain features? The game was delayed multiple times, and when game media was allowed to finally play the game (IGN and others) they posted the real features and nothing more. Still, this is the internet, and even if something is posted on a legitimate website, doesn't make it true. From now on you are going to be disappointed if you keep reading websites and thinking that everything that is brought up will make it in the game (just wait for all these new generation games, bet they have the same problem). That is why the internet is stupid sometimes, what should have happened is you just play the game and find out. And don't even say most of this stuff wasn't created from a guy in his bedroom, lol, most of these websites that posted false info are run by people who sit at home reading the internet all day and are lame, also they live in a false reality that the internet has created. It's almost as similar to conspiracy websites who back up what they preach with false information, or only bits of real information that suits their purpose (same in this case).
