gtamodder
Do you have a lot of processes running when you play? If so, go into Task manager via CTRL+ALT+DELETE, And end all running processes, that you don't need running when you play, and take up a lot of memory (e.g. Firefox, etc)

Girish
p.s. do you think my specs are ok? Your specs are fine. Try updating your video and audio drivers and delete the set file from the User Files folder.
ssoRRoss
I deleted the set file and have all available update for my nvidia driver (169.21) I redefined my controls and the set file came back. It didnt seem to do anything. I use a Logitech dual axis controller and when i got the game it was version 2. i then downgraded and upgraded to version 1.1 patch. does that make any difference? Why does my game say minimum 512 ram when other games say different?
Girish
when i got the game it was version 2. i then downgraded and upgraded to version 1.1 patch. Why would you want to patch the game after downgrading? More importantly, how did you manage to patch a v2 game? The patch is supposed to be for only v1. Downgrading does not change your version to v1, so as I see it, there was no need for the patch. Anyways, instead of confusing you, I'd suggest to reinstall the game and this time, only downgrade. No patch.
ssoRRoss
i downgraded to version 1.0 and it didnt work so i got the version 1 patch (1.1) to see if it worked.

Well, if the game works fine without the downgrader, then there's nothing wrong with your game or your system. So, I suggest you reinstall the game. As for the downgrader, we don't provide help with it over here. Sorry.

crazyanurag
please people, help me out here! 103 views and 2 people have helped! Probably because among yourself and the two that have helped, you guys chalked up 100 views. Anyway, are you running any third-party softwares like trainers, save-game editors, etc.? if you are, turn those off. Also, try lowering the hardware acceleration for both the video and (especially the) sound. Finally, have you tried a clean install yet? Uninstall the game, delete the GTA SA User Files directory, delete all other GTA-related files and folders, then install the game - sounds asinine, but it works for many people. Girish
yes but all it does is takes away my display and control settings. It puts display to high and it lags, and when i change it the set goes back so it doesnt really work The set file stores a lot of things other than just your display settings. So, deleting it after a reinstall is always recommended. I still don't see how the game deos not work. Are you sure that before reinstalling, you had deleted all SA folders and that there was absolutely no trace of the game anywhere on your HDD? Make sure that your anti-virus does not interfere with the working of the game.
Naseem Srour
Did you install any mods ? And tell us exactly when does your game crash.
ssoRRoss
I had mods installed and they were working fine. i reinstalled and got back to version 2. My game crashes about 10-20 mins in and only the static picture shows. I'll try a clean install and video and sound card acceleration lower. Also deleting the set thingy. p.s what is in the set thing except from controls and settings for display.
ssoRRoss
Thank you so much!!! It was the sound acceleration. i tried putting driver and sound down, (when i put the driver acceleration down, the game didnt start) and it works great at basic sound acceleration. Thanks to everyone who answered and tried to help. P.s what is sound acceleration, nothing sounds different and am i meant to end this topic because my problem is resolved?
