R* Removed So Much Stuff

Personally I think this game was brilliant, and I could not have expected more from it.

 

I always expect more. Even after it's given to me. That's what makes me a good consumer and good for the marketplace.

 

 

The point I'm trying to make is that GTA IV is probably going to be like GTA III. The start\building block of the trilogy. You cant really expect R* to push every little feature they have into the game, for the simple fact if they did do that then the next GTA would just be all the same stuff, just in a different location. Which quite simply would just be sh*t.

 

Yep, the whole "This is akin to GTA3 and more will come in sub-sequels" theory is pretty predominant. It's R*'s obligation to try to bilk us out of as much money as they can and it's our job to squeeze every feature we can per dollar we spend. The key to any good trade is that both parties feel like they got a 'deal'.

im slightly dissapointed with gtaIV. its not because of the features they took out. most of the features in SA were rubbish anyhow.

 

getting fat and skinny (especially when you had to do it to date the bitches (who by the way also gave you the same benifits they do in IV) ) was annoying. really annoying. you had to find a burger joint and just keep buying sh*t and throwing up. and then you had to burn it all off by tapping the same two buttons over and over again at the gym... retarded.

 

changing clothes is a waste of my time as well, but if thats your thing at least its not forced on you or gets annoying. i wouldnt miss this feature if they removed it from IV either.

 

casinos minigames were ok because you were in las venturas and it seemed like if they didnt put it in it would be missing it, even though i doubt anyone spend a long time playing video poker... dont miss that at all especially since there is a bunch of other minigames here.

 

ambulance? who cares? didnt you all get sick of doing it in the last 5 gtas?

 

workout? i wont even go there.

 

car costumization was kinda fun especially when you can save your hot pink limo with hydrolics and hydro boost. do i miss it? not at all.

 

here is what my problem is with gtaIV.

the graphix are OK (ok they are kinda good) but you cant even compare them with some games that came out in 06. all the signs as so blurry when you are moving that to read anything you need to come to a stop. (even vice city on pc had sharper sh*t)

people and cars still dissapear as they f*cking please just like in gta3 and this was always my BIGGEST problem. try to pile up some cars together... as soon as you turn a corner they are all gone.

a ped grabbed on to my car so i dragged him for a while and smashed him against an oncoming car, went back to look at him and he was gone.

every time i enter the diner some people sitting inside dissapear. wtf? is this next gen or ps1? everytime you exit an interior the world takes a couple of seconds and changes brightness and colors...

 

AI is still COMPLETELY RETARDED. every time i hail a cab or call roman for a cab they end up crashing into a tree instead of stopping next to me.

 

escaping from cops is better then before but still sucks balls. it made much more sense in bully. and if you have a wanted level and finish a mission or drop somone off they cops just say "eh f*ck it" and leave?? then why make it so that you go to paynspray without them seeing you?

 

people calling you ALL TIME TIME and wanting to hang out with you is driving me crazy. even if i want to hang out with them, they only give you one hour to get to them and if you are in north bohan, you are just not going to f*cking make it in time to hove beach, and then they get all pissed off.

 

i havent gotten too far yet so i cant say this for the rest of the game but so far from what ive seen of cut scenes and missions, its pretty much all the same sh*t as before. i dont know why rockstar said the cutscenes are so awesome. sh*t clips (like when you go to a show and that bluesy chick sits with her legs crossed and sings, her legs clip through eachother.) its distracting and disgusting that i still have to see sh*t like this on a next gen systems.

 

all the store fronts are just pictures of windows with stuff inside. wtf is this gta3?

 

im upset because the whole hype was it was suposed to be as big of a leap as from gta2 from gta3. and its more like a leap from gta3 to vice city.

For me my whole thirst for GTA IV has been has been quenched. I personally have the feeling that every penny I spent on the game was well worth it.

 

And don't get me wrong, I know everyone wants as mush as possible in a game. But its the folk moaning about daft wee things that really would not make the slightest bit of difference... fingerless gloves like mentioned in the first post of this topic for example, for me thats just being bloody daft (Though before someone jumps in with it, I will say they could have put a better range of clothing into the game).

 

Anyway, think part of the reason I don't really have many grumbles is cause I know we are getting the extra content for it (well folk with Xbox 360). Though should really look into what the extra content actually is

There's two solutions for this.

 

1: If you don't want to hang out with them, accept the invite then call them back to cancel the plans. This wont affect the relationship in any way. Negative, or Positive.

 

2: If you do want to hang out with them, but have to get to Hove Beach from Bohan (For example) just hail the nearest taxi, and trip skip.

 

As for the graphics, well it's not as good as alot of PS3/360 games, but to be fair this game has ALOT more content then what most games do.

 

Considering GTA has never had amazing graphics, I think GTA IV's graphics are superb for the game that it is.

I agree with this anyway. I was blown away with the graphics in this GTA. Not for the fact that the graphics were completely ground breaking (which they ain't), but for the fact it was GTA. And driving around the city seeing you are closed in by buildings instead of just seeing a fog in the distance feels amazing.

 

Think most games as open (or sandbox, whatever the right term for it is) as GTA don't really have top end graphics due to the amount of things it shows at once. Not like some FPS with amazing graphics because you are walking in corridors or other confined spaces all the time.

 

Mind you would be interesting to see a GTA with something like the Unreal Engine behind it

I do believe that Niko would learn from xperience after gone through the windshiled 100 times that taking 2 seconds putting on the belt is clever.

Wrong, None of what he said was useless. Every day I come to these forums I find out another feature that was cut from GTA4. It's amazing that Rockstar removed that many features, even San andreas had way more features. I was greatly disappointed that they removed the ability to listen to the radio using your cellphone. Remember it the little things that count and if all the fun features are removed from the game it just becomes dull and boring.What happened to the ability to open trunks? or how about taking photos and sending them to your friends? You can't tell me that the storyline is the only thing that makes the game great. Other then the better graphics which have been destroyed by the blur in the background the game just gets boring. I mean how many times are you going to play bowling with Roman? After you beat the storyline there's not much else to do, it feels boring which kills the replay value of the game.

R* HAD too include multiplayer in this game.Almost every weird little other underdeveloped game have a online mode slapped on.Im happy R* did there multiplayer so serious and looks to be a big super+not like a fast slap on online mode but gameplay worthy to compete with titles BASED on that.

 

Tho as much as i heard the quote"rags to + rags" used i not heard the Chiefs quotes "The gta series basic gameplay experience never have been online play and never will" here before.

 

Looks IV is amazing as a game now, im just into seeing it develop even more getting even more dynamic and open,adding more gameplay material a for every new title and DLC they create for us OFFLINE and ONline

I firmly believe R* will be rolling out more options as series IV continues, but they will certainly face competition this year especially, as Saints Row 2 will be more customizable than ever. So you will be able to pimp your cribs and cars there. Honestly, I really do miss the weapon upgrades though. There is nothing like double clutching two semis, smg's, or sawed offs!

 

Although this episode of GTA seems not to have all of the bells and whistles of previous GTA's, everything has been redesigned for the next gen systems to great effect. Also the level of personality in the game is a great improvement. After you beat the game in SA, you never hear from your brother or homies again. The best you can do is replay, date the girls, or pick up random dudes from the hood to roll around with. With IV, they are incorporating more personality and I expect this trend to experience continued growth from here.

 

I do feel like I got my moneys worth though. And my excitement to play it hasn't died down terribly much either. I Play after work (Told my GF in advance it was gonna be a long month for her, lol) and spend a big part of my work day on these damn forums.

Hopefully they'll put all of the stuff they took out of this one into the next one. Which should be here in two years hopefully. It shouldn't take them as long since they have GTA4 as a foundation to build on.
