eeelie
I have a xbox 360. I have never had any problems with running discs prior to getting GTA IV. After about 10 minutes of game play I get an error along the lines of ' Disc unreadable clean disc and restart console' this is now getting well annoying as it always seems to happen half way though a mission. I have tried other games in my xbox and they work alright, with no reading errors. I have taken my copy back to BlockBuster where I brought it from. They do not have another copy for me to swap. Even worse the manager there is trying to tell me that my xbox is faulty and it is not the disc. They put the disc in a cleaning machine, but his has not cured the fault. dose anybody no if this is a common fault ? and if so how can I cure it ? BigBalls
If you took 10 seconds before posting, you would have seen at least 5 other threads on this exact topic. Here is what I did to fix it. Go into XBox dashboard, Scroll over to system select memory press X X LB RB X X it will ask you if you want to perform maintenance select yes. this will clear the cache Restart console

IHEARTGTAIV
that guy has no idea what he's talking about. clearing the cache with not help doing anything it just cleans up really minute files. it does nothing. i've tried.
BigBalls
I have no idea what i am talking about? I did that after getting multiple UDEs and have now gone almost 20 hours without one. May also want to double check the disc. Breath on it, mine looked clean until I fogged it up then it looked like it had an oil coating on it. Athedian
Or it could be that your CD drive is dying (just a guess).
eeelie
Well clearing the cache has not worked, as for cleaning the disc BlockBuster put it through a cleaning machine and told me to use my console lying flat and not upright. This has not worked either. As for my Xbox being faulty, I find this hard to belive as I have no problems with any other game and there appears to be far to many people on this site with the same problem. I dont know what to do, just forget about GTA IV and class it as a rockstar balls up and a sh*te game. Or go and trade my Xbox in for a PS3 and give it another go on that. eeelie
Ok I have phoned Rockstar games support UK. Although they were reluctant to addmit that this was a common problem they took my contact details and are sending me details on how to obtain a replacement copy. They were very quick to assure me that it was a disc issue I was experiencing and not a software issue. So leave the toothpaste in the bathroom where it belongs and get on the blower to rockstar support UK. Hopefully this will work !!
eeelie
There details on obtaining a replacement is not that exciting. Just somthing to print out to show the place you brought your disc from that it is faulty. At least BlockBuster can stick there stupid suggestions right up there DVD return slot now !!!
