Runcorn92
For some reason when i load up GTA 3 the opening screen comes up with that "RAM OK ROM OK" thing, but after that it crashes to the main screen. I have no mods on, i am running it in windows 98 mode, and i have tried reinstalling it. I have looked on other forums but nothing seems to work. Please can anyone offer me some insight into this problem? Ok i now know what the problem is, but i still don't know how to fix it. When i install the game the files: gta3.set, TXD.DIR and TXD.IMG are not there. Again i have tried reinstalling it but i still get the same "Gta3.exe" is not working problem. Thanks. Your in VISTA, so turn off the user account control in control panel, and run in XP mode.

gtamodder
I myself have tangled with this error with Vista. Thats why I switched back to XP SP3. Me too, I can't believe how I couldn't get GTA3 to work on Vista, but I could on my brothers PC. Although it took about 1 week and I still couldn't fix it, so I went back to XP. It's weird how it works fine on some people's PC, And not on some's, even with all updated drivers, and no hardware problems.
