No more mission icons (Possible Spoilers)

I tried finding answers to this else where, but couldnt find anybody with a solution.

 

First of all I have a Xbox 360 with HDD.

 

Now I usually do all of one persons missions before I move onto the next icon. and usually who ever is closest.

 

As I remember when you do some of Packies Missions, you unlock Ray's missions. But instead of doing any of Rays missions, I chose to finish as much as Packies Missions as I could, and then I would move on.

 

However, after finishing Packies mission, my Ray icon disappeared. This left me with Derricks, Gerry, and Francis missions left. I thought maybe it was a procedural thing, so I proceeded to finish up my remaining missions. After I finished every available mission left, Rays icon is still gone.

 

When I pause the game and go into stats, where it shows Mission Progress %. Ray is not even listed. I tried calling him, and I always get sent to a voicemail "This Cell Phone is switched off" or something of the like.

 

I tried calling everybody on my friends list. Most of the time I will get a voicemail. But no mission will open up and Rays icon will not show up.

 

Autosave is on, so its not like I can go back to an earlier save. When I do though, through the menu, it still the same. I tried dieing. Killing myself, getting arrested. Even so far as going to where, Rays icon WAS. But I have no yellow arrow, and no icon. I even cleared my Xbox 360's HDD Cache. Still nothing.

 

I am a little over 50% done. With absolutely no mission icons on my map. All islands have been opened, and I have unlocked all the special abilities of my friends and girlfriends, that are available up to that point.

 

This is a possible game breaking bug. Is there any sort of thing I can do to continue my game? I dropped a lot of hours into it, and am 50% done. Id hate to do everything again. Why is this game so buggy for so many people?

 

BTW: I noticed this happened several times before, where earlier in the game, Michelle called me to go out and when this happens the "Heart" Icon usually shows up on the map, but there wasnt any icon, and I even went to her house, but no yellow icon. I had to call her up to Cancel the date, and call again the next day. Same thing happened on my 2nd date with Kate. Where her icon would not show up, and I had to call to cancel. It was weird at the time, but I didnt think a whole mission tree would disappear.

 

Any suggesstions? beyond what I already tried

I have a similar problem. I have just finished the mission which unlocks the second island, when you drive Playboy X to his house. The only missions I had left over were Brucie missions so I've done all of them. Now I have no missions left to do. I've searched the internet and apparently Playboy is supposed to text you and then you get missions from him. This has not happened for me so I cannot proceed in the game. Help!

At 35% and I've got to restart the game because of a stupid broken mission I'm gutted.

 

Basically the lawyers don't call you back after you apply for a job. I've gone around 10+ ingame days now and I've got nothing left to persue. Emails, calls everything has dried up. Great sodding QA Rockstar, wasted a ton of time for nothing

Same things happened to me. Problem is, I'm in the last few missions. And now I have to restart the game.

 

 

..Sweet.

 

 

It seems to happen when you turn off your console before you have a chance to get a text message asking you to restart.

 

Stupid glitch.

I restarted last night As painful as it is I remembered that "Rockstar don't really do patches" for their GTA games. From what I remember on the PC, Vice City had one small patch for nvidia owners that didn't fix much, and San Andreas had the single patch to remove Hot Coffee functionality.

 

I'm sure they will do a patch for this game BUT you've got to look at the overall picture - the patch has to get past MS's certification process, which always takes ages...

i have a symalar problem. i just compleeted gerrys second mission and after i compleated it i went off a jump. but the second i went off the jump my phone starded to dial gerry. i compleated the jump but my phone atomaticly canceled on me. now i cant do any of gerrys missions. im like 20 missions away from compleeting the game too. now that a whole mission branch is gone i cant progress. i have my safehouse, assasin, and gun shop on my radar but thats it. and im playing on a 360 with a hard drive. it also automaticly saves so i cant go back... ill just open another file and restart, but ill keep my original game just incase R* makes a patch... this is pisssing me off.

damn i guess im gonna have to restart then. luckily im not that far in on account of screwing with innocent civilians
