Has anyone had any difficulties with this mission? I've been trying it over 45 minutes. It ticks me off because of the long drive all the way to Packies (or screaming for a cab) after ever re-load of the game save to fail again anyways.

 

I have full armor, lots of m4 ammo.. and I'll go throughout the whole mission up untill some stupid reason I fail. Usually I won't get touched at all untill the subway scene where we are running down the tracks to go up to the street I'll get shot and killed (when I had full hp before this part) or they try running off to early in the first parts... It's always something stupid. My last try I was walking backwards down the tracks shooting the cops (to keep my hp full for the next shootout so I can live this time) and a train comes and runs me over... it ticked me off because I was expecting to to come later in the mission like it did the 5th time before..

 

lol I'm just really ticked off..mainly over the fact of reloading my save, going all the way to packies, go through everything i already did...i wish it was like SanAndreas when the last mission had 5 different parts you could trip skip too.. (i would use the phone to skip to packies hour but since i get a failed mission number i take a cab but i still have to go through the same crap i already did a million times)

 

it seems like I have odd bad luck with this mission... great name for it too

I did this mission second time. Probably my favourite mission so far. Just basically stay in cover until Packie makes a move and it will give you a hint at the bottom of the screen saying 'Follow Packie' (and whoever else there is forget his name).

This is a good strategy for most massive crime missions. Shoot a few and f*cking RUN. In a further mission you gun a certain person down in a 3 or 4 story building. SWAT are all over it (and every other bloody cop org.) so you jump from the second story. But back to 3LC, gun a few and ALWAYS USE COVER.

I feel your pain man. All i can say is well placed Grenades. in the subway when your running down the track turn around and toss one right to where they are jumpin down at. Saved me from failing. I finished it on my second go. First time i got pulverized by shotguns running down into the subway station by those two cops. Prolly woulda been fine after that but i dropped a grenade beside me and it went off and killed us all in a splendid explosion. TO be honest i love dying in an explosion of some sort.

Great mission! Loved it... i nailed it in my 4th try.

 

The way i did it was not to follow Packie and the other m8, but simply using the city's alleys to make shortcuts getting closer to the Police and sometimes getting behind the Police.

 

Next you hit the subway - throw a grenade (u have min 5) at the 2 first cops. Pull your M4 and nail the 4 downstairs. More cops will come up the stairs - free aim with M4 and you nail those 4 - 5 cops very easy.

 

Hit the tracks and shoot the 2 allready down there. 3 more comes running down the stairs and you can manage to shoot them before the train comes and you run to the tracks. Walk backwards up against the wall and shoot 3 cops - turn arround and run.

 

When you get to street level - get a car and hit for the Pay n' spray shop - you will loose the cops before getting there. And now - simply just go for Packies house nice and steady.

So I beat this mission tonight after a few tries. The key is to kind of lay back and cover and fire away at the cops. Get headshots as well it makes them go down faster. Be sure to find good cover and just basically fight your way through. I know how you feel cause I had to try the mission a few times and I was kind of frustrated. Once I was in the car getting away then it died and I got shot by the cops. But just take cover a lot, and use your shooting skills to get through it.

The cover system is easily the best way to go about it, especially when you get in the subway. It took me 3 tries. Once you immediately go into the subway, two cops will be hanging down the hall and to the right. So take cover on the wall immediately facing you then either nade or shoot them out. From there just kind of law low, use cover, and aim for the head.

I managed to do the mission first time, you need to take full advantage of the cover system on this one otherwise you will get shot to hell.

 

Use the M4 you have and try to get head shots with all the targets it's the best way to do the mission. But make sure you use cover like no other otherwise it will come back to bite you in the backside.

I loved this mission. I beat it on the 4th attempt I think.

 

Anyway, at the beginnnig of the tracks if you're under heavy fire (like I was too), turn around quickly and fire a few rounds at each cop quickly by swiftly hittin' the analog stick to auto aim on each cop. They're unable to fire because they've all just been hit and are recoverin.

 

Then run for it. That was my tactic anyway.

First try I forgot to heal up so I had basically no life and no body armor.

Second try I died when coming out of the subway

third time the second I came out of the subway I ran right across the street and hopped in a car, luckily the cops where just coming around the corners so I gunned it to packie's house and done, the wanted level went away after I completed it.

real epic mission.

 

after getting out of the subway i found a car to escape, but the cops rammed me and it flipped over.

 

i had about 50% hp when i hopped into a cop car with the guys, then got shot to about 10% health while manouvering out of the parade of cops (my car was shot up to hell, bullet holes all over). after a crazy car chase for 5 minutes i managed to lose the police.

Anyway, this is my favorite mission thus far. You don't have enough epic gunfights in GTA games(In the missions, anyway) and when you do it always delivers. So far, this game has had several of these moments and they are all epic.

Definitely one of the harder missions, but probably my favourite as well.

 

I didn't actually find it that hard. On my first go, I died just about when I went into the Subway. Second go, I did it, with about as little health left as I had ever had it. The only real hard bit was taking the tracks under the tunnel, fighting off the cops behind you. Getting away was the easiest part, though. Keep trying is all I can say.

For the part in the subway: When the other guys run down to the platform, immediately run past them and take cover behind the third column (They will take the other two). Shoot a few cops on the other side and reload when the train passes. When they suggest running down the tunnel, go for it but stay just behind one of the other guys. Watch him, and he will soon turn and start shooting. As soon as he does, you do the same. I use auto aim, keep the trigger held down, and press left and right a few times to stun multiple enemies so they cant get a shot off. As soon as my gun needs a reload, I turn and run.

This mission is actually pretty simple, as long as you constantly use the cover system, I expected the mission to be very hard when driving to the bank but ended up finishing it the first try with minimal hits. Just take cover every time the other guys announce new cops and follow them when they say so, once you enter an actual subway tunnel turn around and cover the other 2 guys every few yards since cops do come after you.

This mission is actually pretty simple, as long as you constantly use the cover system, I expected the mission to be very hard when driving to the bank but ended up finishing it the first try with minimal hits. Just take cover every time the other guys announce new cops and follow them when they say so, once you enter an actual subway tunnel turn around and cover the other 2 guys every few yards since cops do come after you.

I never used cover in this mission and I beat it first try lol. Annoyed me that there wasn't any build up to it though.

It took me two tries. Grenades are the answer to every shoot-out. You can carry 25, which is more than enough for any mission. Free-throw them, though, because if you aim at someone who's ducking behind something, they'll hit that and bounce back and not do as much damage.

It was hillarious, my bro was throwing grenades from cover and one hit the cover and blew up at his feet.

When you finally have to lose your wanted level, get to street level so it reduces it to 3 stars, then go back down tot he subway and go along the tracks until your out the search area and lose the level. Then go to the street level and run.

I don't know how many tries it took me but it take take me a good two hours to get past it. The main reason being, on certain tries, a cop that had to be killed (represented by a red dot on the radar) was way out of the way which meant I had to go find the cop and kill him before Packie would give the order to move. While I would agree that this is the mission that will define GTA IV in terms of scale and in terms of almost forcing you to utilize the use of many different facets of the game (grenade tossing, firing from cover, firing while moving, etc.) I can't help but think how much more awesome this mission would have been if you had squad mechanics allowing you to control the movement of your team rather than the movement being determined by killing a certain amount of cops in a certain section. It is for that reason that I almost prefer the solo shooting missions since you are in direct control of the movement of the action.

Yeah. I dont see what people are on about. As long as you use auto aim efficiently and get headshots its really easy. I still had full health towards the end.

Once your out of the subway there is a SUV to your right.

 

 

P.S. This mission is epic. Not only is it one of the funniest missions in the game, but it also has the most intense firefights.

Maybe if you tried reading the thread before replying, you would see several people have finished it on their first try.
