Anikin714
I got a little board with people guessing the problem behind GTA's legendary crashing issue, from faulty disks and the best yet, word spread Virus, so I called Take2's customer support (thank you Skype!) The guy on the other end of the phone had obviously heard the problem MANY times, as he didn’t seem too enthusiastic telling me the possible solutions BUT when I asked him what the problem was he got excited! :S No idea why, I guess its because people just want a fix, and aren’t bother about why its broken all of a sudden, but here’s the response '' GTA IV has been having a few technical issued at the moment from frame rate to crashing while loading. The frame rate issues is a bug that is known to affect PS3 systems that have ps2 smoothing enabled, the problem your having (loading my last game) is not a GLTICH, but I problem with our servers, You see when you play GTA IV it constantly send back your Statics DATA to Rockstar and the Social Club, So when you start up your previous game, its attempting to connect, but failing to do so, yet the game should just load regardless whether the server can or can not be connected to, but the problem here is that the game, is not disconnecting from the server after failing, it carries on trying to connect which results in a crash, the way to over come this issue is to disconnect from the PSN network and start GTA IV again, We have heard of a MASSIVE success rate buy doing this, and this problem is being dealt with'' I asked about a possible patch? '' A patch is in progress to amend any glitches in the game and the frame rate problem'' but he was unable to tell of a date for this! The last thing I asked was about the 100% key to the city. And how would the crashing affect these scores? He replied '' We are working on how to keep this fair'' (that’s all I got but I guess keeping the competition open longer?) Slamman
Mine loads like a charm and always has since the HDD load initially. I am curious did the 360 version offer an HDD load if you had one, and could it detect a HDD present?

carlweathersarm
Damn, if only I had read this topic before I deleted my save. Anyways, I deleted my save and still couldn't load the game. Read this topic, signed out of PSN and it loaded fine. Time to start over, but thanks to the OP for the very helpful topic.

Baher131
some people say that the freezing problems will stop if you sign out of the psn before you enter the game. I think that's true
