DeeperRed
About 35% through the game and basically it is damn good. Though now I am getting slightly bored, I mean sure the missions rock but GTA is a free roam game, but there is not much to free roam. I have been round the city at and well Its straightening to get boring. I mean, sure I can go out for dates and sh*t but it isn't exactly Grand Theft Bowling is it. My main complaint is the lack of interiors. There are so many major shops that have awesome exteriors but just a low res picture as their interior. Robbing stores is boring and well useless. The weapon choice is mediocre at best, all the crap you pick up seems to have the same weight, I through a brick at a guy and he had the same reaction when I through a coffee cup at him. Baseball bat feels light and flimsy and the knife really is a harder punch with different animation, serious 3 slashes to the face and not even a collapse. I know its unrealistic to have an Chainsaw but so is it to pull weapons out of a tardis pocket in your jacket. You may say San Andreas weapons felt the same but least there was choice. There should be more melee: chainsaw, katana, machete ect. Vehicles are good in the way they all feel unique and diffrent from each other but they should have kept bikes, not having bikes is less realistic then having them! Planes but a harrier would of been fun. I think the car handeling is awesome! much better then the older GTA's as are the cop chases and shootouts It is a great game but not a revolution. It is the best GTA in terms of physics, looks and realistic feel and story but fun wise doesn't quite reach San Andreas. ..... I will however reject Rockstar if they just rehash the whole seiers again, i.e the next game being in Vice City. To me its just lazy, even though I love Vice City I want a new fresh city. There is no need to flame me but I guess some still will.
Ebass
I kind of agree with you on some points. Less weapons is a bit of a kick in the teeth, I won't say "less is more" or anything like is, but it really doesen't make too much of a difference. I mean mostly in San Andreas I just got the "best" weapons in class and stuck with them. (Large Calibur Handgun, Mp5, Combat Shotty, M16 etc etc) and most of the weapons were just a slightly different way to do the same thing. As to the stuff you can pick up and throw, I don't really care because I've never used it even once (aside from the mission where you have to) I would have liked a silenced weapon and a flamethrower though. Thing is you can make a lot of points about stuff removed from San Andreas and I'd probably agree with you. Parachutes, yea why not have them in. Bikes, yea why not More weapons? Sure can't hurt. But almost all things you could complain about from SA are just toppings, though I would agree it doesen't hurt to have them, their abscence really isn't a big deal to me. San Andreas to me was a case of more stuff, less focus. It was complexity trying to masquerade as depth. All of the core gameplay elements, and many of the more minor ones (such as humour and radio stations) are done far better in GTA4, hell they were done better in Vice City in my opinion (VC is my 2nd fav of the series after 4)
