I don't know how many times I have to say this because It makes the most sense, Vice City and San Andreas will be remade In downloadable content form. This Is why there wll be two DLC's for GTAIV. This would then give Rockstar the opportunity to make an entirely new game come GTAV or whenever they decide to throw out another sequel. Mark my words It will happen come August or when they feel It's right to announce It. This Is the most logical DLC and Is worth fifty million dollars for sure. I don't know what they'll do for PS3 users, maybe give It to them later on In the year or something. Rockstar stated that this game Is meant to last and surely It's not going to last with just one city and a few downloadable missions to add to the story. They need a few new cities that give a new feel to GTA like GTAIII did to Vice City, enough said.

No. Just no.

If you watch the TV, or even look at certain pictures strewn throughout the game you can see footage/images of Vice City and San Andreas (clearly mentioned as such as well).

Why the hell will they remake those locations, then say "Oh, those locations you saw on the TV aren't really Vice City and San Andreas anymore" and have two of the same locations next to each other in the same game. Watching footage on TV of the old San Andreas in a new San Andreas? There is no way Rockstar will ever do that.

Plus they did the two locations pretty damn well. Liberty City in GTA III was a mixture, with no true identity of what it was supposed to represent. It was just... a city. A damn good city, but it wasn't New York. They wanted to do New York properly, hence why they remade Liberty City. What could they do to Vice and Andreas except shuffle everything around? It would completely suck. Maybe a few opportunities to visit these locations in a "Saint Marks Bistro"-esque style mission, but they sure as hell aren't going to be completely remaking them.

No, it wont. As the guy above just said, there'd be no point. The only thing to do would be to shuffle everything around. I'd hate it if GTA was set in a city it's already been set in before. Yes, GTA III was set in LC as well but the IV LC is a completely different city, a concept some people still haven't got their heads round yet.

How about a city that we've never played in any of the GTA's but was mentioned on the radio in GTA3 and I think referenced to somewhere in an airport in GTA4.. CARCER CITY?

GTAIV: Mars 3012

Set in the future with much HIGHER and more powerful and bizarre technology, on Mars after terraforming it, 1000 years after the 2012 prophecy came true and we were attacked by outside forces. tounge.gif Now you can go to several planets and commit crimes in a FUTURE setting, where there are far more things to do that are illegal, instead of being stranded in one place. tounge.gif That would set an awesome platform for a lot of conspiracy stuff and sci fi, and I bet Rockstar could even make it seem fitting, interesting, and "hip" even when compared to current times.

nobody would f*cking play that sh*t lol.gif

I can see what you mean because San Andreas was a pretty good representation of California and Nevada but Vice City on the other hand wasn't exactly Florida or Miami, take your choice, It had the Miami feel though. They could defiantly re-make Vice City because one the original Vice City was pretty small for a GTA game even though It was my favorite on the last generation consoles, two It may have fealt like Miami but there wasn't any particular landmarks that stuck out like In San Andreas and IV. Rockstar sort of kept the same idea for Vice City as they did for III. I can tell you this right now, the downloadable content won't be a few small features and missions, It Is going to be something big I obviously don't know what exactly It could be but It the logical thing Is to re-make what they had In the past. Why would Microsoft pay that hefty sum of money just to have some small package? It's not just because they wanted to keep Sony far away from this because you and I both know Sony Is a much smaller company compared to Microsoft when It comes to the almighty dollar. I hope you get my general point and hope to see what Rockstar really has In store for us.

London is already being used in the game call The Getaway so I doubt we'll Rockstar use that location in there next game. Liberty City was done because they felt they never represented New York City they way it really is when GTA3 was released. I highly doubt that they're going to do a trilogy and do Vice City, then San Andreas over again. In the next GTA I would love to see either Chicago or Detroit and focus much more on the gangs and crime aspect.

I'd like to see it set in Cuba, it'd be quite good, you play as an American guy sent out for a deal, but then f*cked over

Personally I would like to see Sydney done, it has some well known landmarks and has a bit of variety in its makeup.

My second choice would be London circa 1980 "Anarchy in the UK!!" devil.gif

The DLC will be big, but not That big. $50,000,000 is a big chunk of change, but next to the money Rockstar makes from releasing GTA titles, it's really rather paltry. A whole new city with the scope of Vice City or San Andreas will not happen, not in DLC form. Rockstar would lose money by having accepted Microsoft's 50m exclusivity deal because of all the profits they would be forfeiting by not releasing it on both the 360 and PS3.

The GTA III series was a re-imagining of the original GTA. I hope this time they remake all the classics this generation. Vice City should be reserved for GTA V on the next generation of hardware.

Liberty City represents GTA/III cities (present)

London 1969 (past)

Anywhere City 2023 (near-future)

I liked how Liberty City on the GTA III trilogy was its own city. To me, it seems lazy to just recreate a real life city. I'm all for recreating the FEEL of a city, like they did with VC and old LC, but I want R* to create their own. That's one of the reasons Saints Row had me interested - it was its own city.

Yeah, but Stilwater (city in Saints Row) is boring as hell.

They're making 2 downloadable packages, both apparently "boasting over 10 hours of gameplay each" i think they'll have these two, then it's on to GTA V

By your logic no other video game company would dare make a game in new york or california, would they?

The Getaway is an appalling game in every sence. I've never seen such poorly crafted, boring, lifeless and dull un-interactive environments in all my years. It's just not in any way fun. You can't actually do ANYTHING. There's nothing to see, do or visit. The peds all spawn the same, little to no dialogue or involvement, absolutely no activities or side-missions or mini-games, no radio, no essence of culture-or personality or sense of being in any particular major city. It could be anyway, they would do new york just as poorly. The main story is horrendous, the over-acting, the cheesy stereotypical cockneyfest is so outdated and uncharacteristic of london, generally. London has never been done properly in a video game, ever.

Have to agree. I got that game expecting something more like Driver 2 in London, what I got was a weird piece of crap that had terrible driving and directions (how the hell am I supposed to get around when I'm focusing on which way my indicators are pointing) and, worst of all, tried to make out the Bethnal Green Mob types are the biggest thing in London.

They'd have gotten away with it if they set it in the 70s and played it as a lighter version of Get Carter. But as it was, it was just stupid. I didn't even bother with the second.

Haha, that works, only this time when you pick up something you can smoke, you better be able to actually smoke it. And they could have the special kind of coffee shops, which have customers spouting cheech and chong one liners, lol.

I think anywhere in the upper and eastern midwest would be good. Especially Detroit or St.Louis. I mean especially with Detroit it's just a bunch of people pissed off because their economy is sh*t and has been, same with other midwestern cities where manufacturing was the principal employer. Chicago would be tight too, just because it's a really big city and still has that American feel that they could satirize. St. Louis because it's basically crime capital of the U.S. in homicides.

Someone mentioned Kansas City a while back in this thread. I live in Kansas City and while it would be cool to see my city in a videogame it wouldn't be that cool for everyone else. First off KC is spread out, it takes forever to drive somewhere unless you live downtown or near there. Second, it isn't even that big of a city, it'd be a lot of sh*t going on in the suburbs and more rural areas which wouldn't be that fun. Maybe Denver? I was also thinking maybe somewhere in Texas like Houston or San Antonio. Houston is one of the biggest cities in the country with quite a criminal portfolio. Plus, think how much fun they would have making fun of Texas biggrin.gif

What you guys think of something along the lines of a GTA Europe kind of thing? This could comprise the best aspects from London,Rome,Paris,Berlin,Athens n such. Each of these cities is truly unique from one another in a way that Broker isn't different from Algonquin n such. These cities are as diverse as you will ever see. Personally I think Liberty City is too good just to toss away which is why I'm expecting some fairly big things with the DLC but not Vice and SanAn, as was pointed out, this would be a financial disaster for Rockstar.

Character wise, Niko has to stay in my opinion, as well as some of the others, no matter where they take the game or what they do with it.Absolutely immaculate performances with the characters. Whilst some people may disagree that the gameplay is amazing and that some features have been left out, the quality of the story, voicing, cutscenes and city itself are incredible, which is why they will have a very hard time bettering this game.
