rubberglenn
I inserted the disk for the first time, watched the opening credits and the game seemed to freeze. The 2 characters were sitting in the car and the camera kept spinning around and I was unable to move the car, exit, etc. I restarted the game..now it shows the opening blubs and the screen goes black. There is a message that says I am not signed in and my progress will not be saved. It says push "A" to log in or "B" to continue without logging in. Thats all that happens. I cannot press either of the buttons and the game just sits there, music playing, waiting for input that for some reason I cannot give. I can exit to the XBox media screen and navigate there. The "A" and "B" buttons work fine there. In addition, it shows I am logged into my 360. I have no such issues with any of my other 360 games. Any ideas how I can get this game running? Thanks in advance, Glenn Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/340441-wont-start-on-xbox-360/ Share on other sites
fraggyy
Strange indeed... Maybe stupid of me, but you do know that, to move the car, you must use 'RT'? For the singing-in thingy, maybe you have to disconnect you internet cable? My disc is scratched which also sucks, have the game 6 days... rubberglenn
I have been able to fix the problem. I was reading on the Microsoft Xbox360 website about compatibility problems with various input devices. I unplugged the guitar from Guitar Hero 2, restarted my machine and GTA4 ran with no problems. Mabye I just got lucky, but it might be worth a try if anyone else is having a similar problem. Also, my machine is not hooked up to the internet...I've been reading that some people are having freeze problems with machines online. Just wanted to clear that up for other users. Hope this helps, Glenn Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/340441-wont-start-on-xbox-360/?do=findComment&comment=1058014104 Share on other sites
shenaniganz
Pft, noobs. JK To fix it.. Take the disc out, restart console. Main dashboard, slide over to the right, go into the memory settings tab. When selecting whichever memory source (harddrive), click the one you use, obviously. Hit Y to enter somethingsomething settings. It'll say format, and something else. Go ahead and format it. Just kidding, don't. Just hit XX, LB, RB, XX. Another screen will pop up. If you don't get it at first, do it again. I did it like 5 times at different speeds before it worked, I was starting to not believe the person telling me this, I've never seen this screen before. It's either yes or no, click yes. That's it. It manages the memory cache or something. Works fine for me now.
