Claude's bio, for the ignorant people...

 

 

Claude Speed - The first ever 3D protagonist of the series. Not so popular like Tommy, or CJ, but is still the greatest character in the trilogy. Why? Claude is a sociopath, a person who doesn't care about himself, or people surrounding him. He strives towards one goal. Revenge. His silent type makes him even more admirable because it really shows how a person doesn't need to talk to get things done, he's a man that lets his actions speak for him.

 

Character bio: Claude Speed, born in San Fierro, owned a run-down garage in Doherty and probably bought it to pull off a real estate scam, which he did on CJ. He met Catalina in '92, while she was still Carl's girlfriend, whom Carl had neutral feelings about. Claude lost to CJ in a street race, which gave him the opportunity to pull off a scam on CJ, giving him a pinkslip to his garage in Doherty. The couple were allegedly roaming the US pulling off various scams, robbing small time banks, liquor stores and such. In 2001, 9 years later, he and Catalina were robbing a bank in Mainland Liberty, where Claude was suddenly double crossed, shot in the chest and left for dead by Catalina, who left him for Miguel. He was treated for gunshot wounds in Liberty state Penitentiary, and was sent to a transfer to another prison. He befriended an explosives expert named Mullan, also

known as "8 Ball" in prison. As the routine transfer was taking place, the Colombian Cartel stopped the convoy in an attempt to kidnap an old oriental gentleman, who was also being transferred along with Claude and Mullan. The Cartel bombed the bridge, damaging it tremendously, and accidentally gave Mullan and Claude a second chance. Police HQ was hacked, so their bios were deleted along with their criminal records. Mullan had some ties with the local Mafia, the Leone family, who Claude began to work with. As he slowly got to the top, becoming a made man, he again, was double crossed by Salvatore Leone, the don, who Claude later killed. Running off with Maria, Salvatore's wife, to Staunton, Claude now started to work with

the Japaneze Yakuza, who's co-leader, Asuka, Claude had something more than just a business relationship. Claude was later introduced to Ray Machowski, a bent cop who Claude helped to clear his name. Ray introduced him with a psychopatic rich businessman named Donald Love, who asked Claude to kill Kenji Kasen, the leader of the Yakuza, disguised as a Colombian, so he'd provoke a war between the two rival gangs. Asuka thought that Miguel killed Kenji, her brother, and after a chain of events, got hold of him and tortured him. After doing a series of jobs for Asuka, which were mainly attempts to foil the Cartel's plans and ruin them, Claude found Asuka lying dead, and with a note saying that Maria, now Claude's girlfriend, got kidnapped and that Catalina wants 500,000$ if Claude intends to get her back. Claude went to the deal, and again got cheated over, and next moment, had a gun pointed to his head. Claude punched the gunman in a flash and started to chase Catalina, who had captured Maria on a dam. After killing hordes of Columbian gunmen, Claude managed to shoot down Catalina's helicopter, and rescue Maria. After a few moments, Maria started nagging and boring Claude, and he shot her in the head. Claude was allegedly captured some time later, and was cryo-frozen. He was released from the cryonic prison and woke up in Anywhere City, in the year 2013, with no memory of his past actions. Claude did various jobs for the local gangs, and soon, again got double crossed by them, and killed the leades, which gave him the title "King of the city".

Yeah Niko by far, and then Tommy.

 

Thirded, Niko is the only character so far I can actually relate to or have any real sympathy for.

 

Claude was just an immoral thug

Vercetti had his goals and motivations and had some shades or virtue in him, such as Loyalty to his friends but was still a really bad person.

CJ was the first real attempt to make a character who people might feel empathy for, but for me it totally failed. He seemed to be trying to justify his actions through the Nuermburg defence and more to the point was just kind of a douchebag.

 

Niko was just a great character.

i never finished VCS, but i liked vic. he's pretty similar to niko in some ways, a straight up guy who resorts to a life of crime because eventually, that's all he knows how to do.

 

i think R* was aiming for making niko our favorite though, and it's not something they've really been hiding. they always talk about the depth of character and story the new consoles allow them, and there it is, you become more invested in the characters since they look more real and have deeper backstories.

 

as far as claude speed goes, i like him, too. i sympathize with most dudes whose women f*ck them over haha

 

edit: yo claudegta3, no one knows for sure who got shot at the end of the credits. i've heard theories that claude himself was shot, maybe even by a sniper. but making it happen with no video like that was the whole point... excellent

I completely disagree. Most of the time Tommy has been the favorite character (he was mine), and when other people came out like CJ (who was/is widely hated), Toni and Vic, there was never really any wavering from people's preference for Tommy and Claude. Niko is different. Never in a game has there been such a deep character who you actually care about like you do for Niko. He's a genuine character who you want to win, but he's also a scary guy at the same time.

 

*Spoiler for those who have just begun the game*

 

In the mission where Roman has been kidnapped and being held in a warehouse and you need to save him, it sent chills down my spine when Niko is screaminig "YOU SHOULD HAVE NEVER f*ckED WITH MY FAMILY!" (or something like that, i don't think that was the exact quote). Listening to Niko's angry yelling during intense battle situations really shows you just how crazy he is. But at the same time, when you're getting pressured into a mission that you don't want to do

 

*spoiler for those who haven't played through Playboy X and Dwayne's missions*

 

like when Playboy and Dwayne have turned against each other, you can see just how conflicted Niko is by the situation, and in turn you become conflicted by it aswell. When it came time to make my decision on who I was going to kill, I drove around Algonquin a couple of blocks in between Dwayne & Playboy's houses, trying to figure out what I was going to do. I went back and forth so many times, I would start driving to one of their places with a firm decision in my head and then I would change my mind halfway there. (I ended up killing Playboy and cannot wait to replay the game to see how things change if I don't choose him)

 

No matter how you look at it, there has never been a GTA character with this much depth, personality, or likeability. Niko is the perfect character for this game and I couldn't be happier. Everything about this game has lived up to my extremely high expectations. I was a little nervous when the game was coming out b/c I thought there was a chance it wouldn't be as good as I was hoping. Not the case, R* has really outdone themselves. Bravo. Can't wait for the next game to come out, but until then I'm more than happy to cruise through Broker, causing trouble.

I dislike Niko because I never got an insight into his personality, and his accent is soo goddamn fake. I just don't like the fact that I'm playing with a 50 year old Serbain or whatever, also the fact that he's Balkan irritates me.

To be fair, what you typed in for the Claude profile didn't give any real insight into his character, just his actions. I mean, to be fair, Niko has more character in one finger then I have seen for Claude anywhere. Niko is 30, not 50(Which makes him younger than Claude is at the time of IV) and I'm not even gonna comment on your Balkan comment.

 

You like Claude more? Sweet, you have your reasons, but don't use character personality or development because Niko has that about fiftyfold on Claude.

And if you just like the fact he is a sociopath, awesome. I just found it funny that you typed this massive bio for Claude and it really didn't contain anything that strengthened your case.

For NPCs it has to be Roman. I think he's a idiot, but a likeable idiot. He's quite funny.

I will tell you in two months, and I'll tell you that I found Vic Vance to be lamer than lame. I never even liked him. TC? I don't mind him.

However, in GTA IV alone, my favorite character is Brucie.

Yeah, Tommy is my favorite, then cj, then Claude, then Niko.

 

In GTA IV, I like Brucie too, but I also like Little Jacob. I love how he talks.

niko could whoop all they asses in a fight, first off his counter attacks are f*ckin unstoppable by any of those characters, second, if he took cover while CJ ran about firing like crazy, he would take him out in only a couple shots...so Niko is the best fo'sho

 

Your just forgetting a couple minor things. Niko is the slowest 3d GTA char by far, and once he gets knocked down it takes him forever to get back up. Also, incase you forgot CJ was able to do instant kills with a knife and katana. Speed + Instant kill = win.

 

Now go cry home to mommy, Niko isnt that tough. must be hard for a fanboy to hear that.

 

Tommy is my fav with CJ and Niko tied for second. they both have a smartass sense of humor that i like but Tommy is more of a icon then anyone else.

That is extremely true, I didn't like the idea of Niko before I got to play the game but now I think he's a great character thanks to the new game engine.
