• Victor "Vic" Vance - GTA:VCS (Vice City Stories)
• Nikolai "Niko" Bellic - GTAIV

I think, so far, Niko Bellic is my favourite, with Tommy Vercetti coming in second, and CJ coming in third.

 

Niko is pretty much an insane, yet loyal hitman who gets the job done. Plus all the moments in the game when he feels guilty about killing someone show a different aspect about his character. Without going into too much detail, I think he's one of the most complex and interesting characters in the GTA series.

 

What about everyone else?

Its hard to call between Niko and Tommy Vercetti. Tommy was a complete badass, but Niko is much more believeable and a more realistic badass.

 

CJ doesn't even make it in my list, personally. He was just a pussy.

niko could whoop all they asses in a fight, first off his counter attacks are f*ckin unstoppable by any of those characters, second, if he took cover while CJ ran about firing like crazy, he would take him out in only a couple shots...so Niko is the best fo'sho

Claude Speed, by a country mile. He fits the persona of the quiet sociopath to a tee, and so in retrospect, is the ideal anti-hero.

 

Niko is growing on me as the days progress, and I must say, aside from Claude, he's the best protagonist the series has introduced yet.
