Hanging from vehicles!

theres been so many screenshots/videos showing Niko hanging from helicopters etc. but whenever you try in the game you just fall off

 

anyone know if they kept this in the game and if they did then how do you do it ??

 

heard you do it in a mission so this might be the only time it works

I think if you hold or X on xbox you can hold on to stuff, Im pretty sure i held onto the side of an ambulance like that....I think, it may have knocked me off..i would try it but im at work, see if that works for you

U can and u can't. U hafta grab the door just when the feller is trying to drive away. that way our boy niko holds the door and is getting dragged around and stuff. If ur timing sucks, u just end up taking the guys vehicle and so on...

the search function doesn't work

and niko is hanging on the side of a vehicle when you try to enter it while it is driving away from you

The search functions works just fine, I just tried it. In the past, there have been times when it was a little glitchy. Works fine now.

I think it's pure luck, except a single quest where it's forced

 

 

In a few attempts (2 or 3) I've grabbed onto the top or side of a car and gone quite a bit. There are actually controls on hanging onto cars but they might have been for a certain mission.

This is really the only thing about gta 4 that disappointed me. I've tried numerous times to hang on to the sides of trucks and subway cars, etc. You can jump up and grab on, but when the vehicle moves, you are thrown off.

 

Also, if you manage to climb up on top of a truck, when it moves, you lose your balance and fall down on top of it and you take damage. This will continue until you die unless you jump off of the truck.

 

I really wanted to be able to hang onto vehicles. In multiplayer, it would be fun to have a teammate drive while you climb out and jump onto an opponent's vehicle.

Yea, one of the best things to do in any GTA was to sit on top of one of those cars with the flat back bit, shoot it so it drives fast then shoot everyone as its driving along.

 

GTA IV though...another feature down the drain

I'd hardly call an abuse of the rudimentary physics of previous titles a "feature."

 

Ever actually try standing up in a truckbed going faster than 20 in RL? It's dangerously hard. Ever done that while it's whipping around a turn at 30+? Yeah, no, not happening. I wouldn't even try.

*laugh* You make a really good point. It would still be fun if Niko could at least cling to the vehicle and move around on all fours.
